I lifted myself onto my knees and slowly flicked open the button on my jeans, hearing her catch her breath when I slid the zipper down. She ran the vibrator over the thin strip of hair on her mound and whimpered. “Hurry up, would you?”
Figuring that I’d made her wait long enough if she’d been on edge before I’d even gotten here, I shoved the pants and my underwear off at the same time and kicked them off the bed. Sitting back down on my knees between her legs, I brought my hand to my throbbing cock and groaned when I gave it one, long stroke.
“Okay, I get why you wanted to do this.” Elyse’s pupils were blown so wide now that I could hardly see the blue of her irises. “It’s fucking hot. Keep doing that. Don’t stop, okay?”
“I’m not coming like this,” I warned her. “Maybe later I will, but the first time I come tonight, it’s going to be inside you.”
Her neck arched and her eyes closed. She let out a loud moan and finally brought the vibrator to her clit. “I can definitely live with that, but I don’t know if I’m going to be able to stop again.”
“Do you want to?”
She half nodded, but she seemed too far gone to be able to form proper thoughts. “I want the first time I come tonight to be with you buried deep inside me.”
“Then that’s what you’ll get.” I lowered my head and nipped at the soft skin on her stomach. “Just let me know when you’re ready.”
Chapter 18
Elyse
The vibrations from the vibrator I’d hastily stashed away when I’d heard Jordan knock the first time traveled through me, sparks of pleasure shooting from my core. It was all I could do not to surrender and let go, but I really did want to wait for Jordan. If he wanted to wait until he was inside me, I wanted that too.
I wanted to give him whatever he wanted, including this little show. It might just kill me, but it was obvious that he was enjoying it so I would just have to deal with it.
My clit pulsed and pounded, so close to the edge that I could already feel those first wisps of my orgasm licking my insides. Jordan’s fist was around his thick cock, stroking slowly and squeezing every time he got to the tip. It was already wet and glistening, making it that much harder for me to hold back.
Another moan slipped from my lips, but I wasn’t even sure if I’d stopped making the sound since he’d wrapped his hand around his dick. My hips rocked into my hand, pressing the vibrator harder against me.
I was so close. So damn close. I wanted to wait, but—
Suddenly, there was a strong hand on mine and it lifted the toy away. I cried out my protest, but Jordan just gave me that sexy smirk, and his heated eyes raked down the length of my body. “You said you wanted to wait. I’m helping you do that.”
The haze cleared from my mind enough to nod. “You also said to tell you when I was ready. I’m so fucking ready. Now, Jordan, please. We can do this again another time, just not right now. Not anymore.”
“All you had to do was say the words. If you’re ready, I’m ready.” Jordan dropped the vibrator to the bed and moved into position above me immediately. He twisted his body to the side momentarily to grab a condom, ripping the package open with his teeth.
Sheathing himself in fast, sure movements, he brought his mouth back to mine and kissed me senseless as he sank into me. Jordan didn’t make me wait any longer.
His thrusts were hard and fast, the sparks of pleasure the vibrator had given me not a patch on the lightning bolts shooting through me now. There was nothing sweet or slow about this. It was fucking. Plain and simple old-school fucking.
More sounds were ripped from my lungs and I was quickly lost to the world. Jordan drove into me time and time again. He was rough, but it was exactly what I needed.
He nipped at my lips between kisses, his callused hands seemingly everywhere. Minutes later, I exploded into a million pieces and soared among the stars.
Jordan held me tight and gentled his kisses as I came back down, slowing the pace of his hips. When my eyes blinked open, he smiled at me. “Better?”
“Much.” I lifted my head and planted a chaste kiss on his lips. “I may have gotten carried away while getting ready.”
“I love it when you get carried away. Please feel free to keep doing it.” His words were light, but his voice was coarse.
“What about you?” I asked, my limbs feeling like jelly as I nuzzled his neck.
He let out a soft moan. “I’m far from done with you.”
Starting up his movements again, he set a much more relaxed pace as he peppered kisses over every inch of my skin he could reach. I admired the way the muscles in his arms bunched and released as he rocked into me, his expression focused and tender.
His pelvic bone rubbed rhythmically over my sensitive clit, and soon enough, it all got me again. Jordan didn’t increase his speed when I started clawing at him all over again, slowly driving me higher and higher.
I didn’t know how he kept such a tight leash on his control, but I sure as hell wasn’t even going to try. “Fuck me, Jordan. Harder.”
He lifted his head from where he’d been pressing kisses to my pulse, arching an eyebrow at me. “Already? I thought I might be imagining things.”
“Already.” I thrust against him, rolling my hips to get some more friction on my clit. My inner muscles fluttered when I did and Jordan cursed.
“Fuck. If that keeps happening…” The column of his throat moved as he swallowed and his gaze darkened, so I did it again. “You really want me to lose it?”
I nodded. “Come with me, baby. Please, come with me.”
A low growl ripped from his chest and he slanted his mouth back over mine as he finally started moving the way he knew I needed him to. Both of us chased our releases with ferocity, teeth and hands nipping and groping as we drove each other to that ultimate peak.
Jordan’s kisses were possessive and almost bruising, so much more intense than they had been earlier. He meant business now. That much, I was sure of.
I pushed my chest up to mash it somehow even closer to his, locking my ankles behind his toned butt and using every muscle I had in my legs to keep him from stopping. He bit out curses between kisses, and when he made me come again, my orgasm was so powerful that my ears rang for a solid minute afterward.
Jordan followed me over the edge with a shout, his hips twitched, and I felt the swell of his cock deep inside me when he found his release. He quivered in my arms, his body collapsing on mine as we lay there panting together.
“Fuck,” he whispered eventually. “I must be crushing you.”
He started to move, but I tightened my arms around his neck and my legs were still around his hips. “No, stay. I like having you here.”
“I like being here.” He let his head fall back to being half on my shoulder and half on the pillow and turned it to face me. Our mouths were only inches apart, but we didn’t kiss.
For a long couple of minutes, we just lay there staring into each other’s eyes. A growl from my stomach broke the heaviness of the moment passing between us and Jordan’s beautiful lips were tugged into a smile. “I think we’d better get some real dinner into you.”
“Yeah, that’s probably a good idea.” Reluctantly, I untangled my limbs to release him, then sat up and reached for my robe. “I made some roasted chicken and vegetables earlier. I really was planning on actual dinner all along. I just had a few other plans for before.”
“And after, I hope.” He climbed his naked ass out of my bed and disposed of the condom before putting on only skin-tight black boxer briefs. No matter how many hours I’d now spent with him naked, seeing him in his damn underwear still made my mouth water. A smirk touched his lips when he caught me staring. “Well, I guess that answers that question. Let’s get you fed first, huh?”
I sighed but nodded when my stomach growled again. “Yeah, okay. Let’s go do it.”
Sliding my arms into my robe, I tightened the belt and padded to the kitchen on bare feet having lost my r
ed stilettos in the throes of passion. Jordan followed after me, still wearing only his underwear. He put on the radio and poured us each a glass of wine from the bottle I kept in the fridge on Alice’s advice while I warmed up some food.
We made our plates and carried them with the wine to the small dining room table. I’d turned on a few lamps earlier, knowing it would probably be dark by the time we got out of the bedroom.
Their shades dimmed the light though, giving the room an unintentionally warm but romantic feel with the soft music flowing from the kitchen. Jordan took a few bites and a sip of his wine before he spoke.
“How were your first couple of days at work?” he asked, cutting another piece of chicken and spearing a carrot with his fork while he waited for my answer.
“It was great actually.” A smile spread on my lips as I thought about the kids in my class and my new friend. “I think I’m going to be really happy there.”
“That’s good news.” His mouth cracked into a wide grin. “I thought you’d like it. You always did used to talk about working with kids one day. To be honest, I was surprised when you told me you’d gone to college for Fine Arts. I’d have thought it would have been for teaching.”
“I considered it,” I admitted before chewing and swallowing a bite of my own food. “But I was already wrapped in the art world when I had to register, so I decided to go for it.”
“Do you think you’ll go back into it?” he asked, lifting his wine glass by the stem and taking a small sip.
I shrugged, the corners of my lips pressing in. “Kole wants me to go back to school to finish my last semester, but I haven’t decided yet. I told him I’d think about it.”
At the mention of my brother, Jordan tipped his glass and poured the rest of his wine down his throat. I frowned and cocked my head. “Do you think what we’re doing together is wrong, Jordan?”
He dragged in a deep breath, forest-green eyes filled with so much affection. They searched mine for a minute. Then he released the air in his lungs and reached for my hand across the table. I gave it to him willingly.
“Let’s just enjoy the moment together, okay?”
“Okay.” It did seem like the best idea. Letting go of the serious conversation we’d almost had, we chatted while eating and then somehow found ourselves naked on my kitchen counter after doing the dishes together.
I screamed through another release and went limp in his arms. Then he carried me to the bedroom and made me do it again. When he finally followed after me, he rolled to his back and pulled me into his arms.
Sated and with sleep not far away, I blinked up at Jordan. “Are you going to be able to stay tonight?”
“Do you want me to?” The look in his eyes told me that it was completely up to me.
I snuggled deeper into him and nodded. “Yeah, I do want you to. Unless you think it’s too risky.”
“Kole has to be on the base early on Thursdays,” he said. “There’s a party going on somewhere on your block, so I couldn’t find parking right outside your house. We should be okay.”
I laid my head down on his chest and planted a soft kiss just over his heart. “Stay then, please. I’ve always wanted to know what it felt like to sleep next to you.”
“Then I guess that’s one more thing you’re about to find out.” He kissed the top of my head and stroked his fingers through my hair. It made me so drowsy that I was already drifting off when he said, “Sleep now, baby. I’m not going anywhere, not ever.”
Chapter 19
Jordan
Mauli’s ancient boat rocked beneath us, the lawn chairs we’d set up on the deck creaking slightly. Our feet were propped up on the edge of the hull and our fishing rods were mounted in front of us, not that we’d had any luck whatsoever so far.
He yawned and stretched out his legs, kicking them out ahead of him. “Maybe the fish aren’t biting because we’re too quiet. We should talk more.”
“Don’t people usually say the opposite?” I asked, catching the yawn from him and wondering if I could just take a nap right here. It wasn’t like there were any fish requiring my attention.
Mauli chuckled and shrugged his big shoulders. “Okay, then maybe it’s too hot today. There has to be some reason we haven’t had a bite.”
Early afternoon sunlight glinted off the water, the currents calm. I peered at him over the rim of my sunglasses. “Maybe we’re just shitty fishermen. Next time, we should try laser tag or something for a guys’ day out.”
His chest puffed out. “I’m not a shitty fisherman. I’ve spent my life out on this water and I will not give up and move onto laser tag.”
“You’d get to shoot at me,” I reminded him. “That could be pretty fun.”
He tilted his head, the corners of his mouth edging upward. “Yeah, you’re right. It could be lots of fun to shoot at you, but we’re still not doing it. We’re fishing and I’ll be damned if we don’t catch anything.”
“I hate to break it to you, man, but we haven’t caught anything, and it’s been hours.” We’d come out just before sunrise and it was already after noon. “I’m perfectly happy to sit here staring at this view, but I think we should accept our fate. We’re not bringing anything home tonight.”
“At least we’ve got beer.” He lifted his out of the makeshift wire cupholder attached to his chair. “So there’s that.”
“There’s that.” I raised my own bottle and clinked the neck of it against his. “And we’ve got good company. Who needs fish?”
Mauli laughed. “Me. I need fish. I’ll have to stop at the market to get one to take with me to my grandparents’ for dinner. I’ll never hear the end of it if I show up without one when they know I’ve been out on the water.”
“How are your grandparents?” I asked.
He lifted a hand and dipped it from side to side. “So so. One day, they’re so strong I think they’re going to live to a hundred, but then the next day, something happens and I just don’t know. Thinking about it is too depressing, though.”
He sighed, quiet for a moment before he shook himself out of his thoughts. “Let’s talk about happier things. Tell me about your dinner date with your lady friend. How did it go?”
“It wasn’t a date.” Hell, it had been a booty call more than anything else. Once again, it had ended up being one of the best nights of my life, though. Especially since I’d stayed the night and got to wake up next to her in the morning. It had been a first for us—and definitely something I wanted to repeat.
It didn’t hurt that we’d gotten to christen her shower before racing through our morning rituals to make it to work on time. I’d been a few minutes late, but it had been worth it.
“What do you mean it wasn’t a date?” he asked, a frown pulling his eyebrows closer together. “She invited you over for dinner. That’s called a dinner date.”
“Not when you only eat the food three or so hours after you get there and only because she needed the fuel.” I smirked when he paled. “You regret asking yet?”
“Yes.” He nodded firmly. “I really didn’t need to know that.”
He took a long sip of his beer, then turned to face me. “Three or so hours? Really? You’re not exaggerating?”
“Nope.” Every minute of those three or so hours had been a struggle for me, but I’d managed it in the end. “I’ve got staying power. What can I say?”
Muttering something under his breath, he downed the rest of his beer. “I don’t know what you can say, but I know I can say I think you’re full of shit. If you’re holding on for that long, she’s not just some old fling or girl you used to talk to.”
I’d have preferred a punch in the throat to that reality check. Partially because I’d already known it was true. Lying to myself by pretending that I’d ever be able to just be a friend to her was stupid.
Elyse didn’t mean nothing to me. She wasn’t someone I could just fuck and walk away from. In all of the scenarios I’d run in my head, I hadn’t been able to run
one where I just ghosted her, just disappeared from her life yet again.
It just wouldn’t be possible for me to do it. I’d tried it once already, and it hadn’t exactly worked out for me. And not only because Kole had already asked that we all do something together over the weekend.
Elyse was the one woman I’d never be able to put behind me and not look back. Which meant I was in deep shit. Deep shit that, for the first time in my life, I didn’t have my best friend to turn to for help getting out of it.
Guilt had been eating me up as it was, but knowing that Kole was the person I would usually be turning to in a situation like this? There was only one answer I could think of.
“I need to tell Kole about us,” I said to Mauli, speaking the words I’d been running over in my head since I’d left Elyse yesterday morning. “It’s time. I’ve already betrayed him in the worst way possible. I can’t keep doing it.”
He sucked in a breath, pursing his lips and moving them around before he answered. “Any chance you can just end it and stay away from her? Seems like that would solve all your problems.”
“I can’t.” It pained me to admit it, but it was true. “I’ve tried, and I can’t stay away from her. Not without hurting both of us.”
That much, I’d already decided.
I couldn’t stay away from her, not unless she asked me to.
Which she hadn’t.
In fact, we texted back and forth all the time now and she’d already asked when we’d see each other again.
Maybe she wasn’t the girl I used to know. Maybe she was just a woman who was remarkably like her. Either way, having her father walk out and her brother walk away for years was more abandonment than one person should ever be subjected to. I couldn’t add to that, not again.
I don’t want to.
“I can’t stay away from her, Mauli,” I repeated in a quieter voice. “If she wanted me to, I would. I don’t think she does, though. I have to tell Kole. That’s my only option now.”
