As I watched Gabe looked down at the sponge in his hand. I could tell he was seeing it in a totally different light. He'd probably never look at soap the same way again.
When he started slicking himself up, I spread my legs a bit further to get at a little lower level to make it easier for him. After what seemed like an eternity but was more likely only a few seconds, I felt his slick hands on my ass.
His hands lathered my ass again, paying special attention to the crack in the center. I closed my eyes, imagining how the entry would feel. It surprises me every time.
He was still hesitating. My asshole wasn't going to get any slicker.
"Please, Gabe," I pleaded. "Haven't you tortured me enough?"
He grunted. "Huh, I guess I'm not the only one hurting here then?"
“Take me now, Gabe, or lose me forever.”
Sighing, I felt the head of his cock press against my hole. Slowly, too slowly, he started entering me. Gabe was larger than Joshua and filled me completely, but he was taking it far too slow, so I took matters into my own hands.
Or rather, my own ass. Pressing my hips back into him, I forced his entry faster. My breath quickening at the sensation of his hard length ramming into my very center.
Gabe growled, then started his rhythm of in and out movement. The friction was hotter than anything I'd ever felt and I reveled in the feeling that straddled the fine line of pain to pleasure. At this point, both were the same to me.
As his thrusts started to quicken, I knew he was getting close to cumming. Releasing the bar with one hand, I wrapped my fingers around my own hardness and started to match his rhythm, stroke for stroke.
"I'm going to cum," Gabe warned. And in the next heartbeat, he did.
A heartbeat later so did I.
We stood there in the spray of water until it started to lose its warmth. Then Gabe pulled gently from me, quickly lathered himself all over and then rinsed himself off before wrapping a strong, wet arm around me and turning me in the spray to rinse all the soap from my body.
Then he turned off the water and helped me step over the small ridge that was the shower's border. Grabbing the towels off the hanging rack, he wrapped me in one’s soft warmth, then wrapped himself in the other.
We dried off quickly as Gabe kept his house on the cool side. Goosebumps covered my body, and I tried to suppress the shudders that came next. I’ll admit I’m a wimp when it comes to the cold. Especially after I’ve just had mind-blowing sex.
Stepping into the bedroom, we paused. I was listening for sounds of movement in the house, and I figured that Gabe was doing the same. All was quiet.
Good.
Gabe led me to his bed and helped me lie down, then he tucked me in.
“Aren’t you coming?” I asked.
“Oh yes,” he said. “I just want to check on the boys first.” He pressed a quick kiss to my forehead and went out the door, returning less than a minute later.
“All good?”
He nodded. “Sleeping like the babes they are.” Moving the covers back, he climbed in next to me. I was lying on my side with my back to him, hoping he’d be willing to spoon for a while.
That’s when he noticed my extra pillow. Until my back regains its strength, through time and therapy, I’ve been instructed to sleep with a pillow between my knees for support.
Gabe grunted. “I’ve got a better idea,” he said, moving the pillow out gently and replacing it with his knee. It was the perfect balance of height and firmness that I needed and I snuggled back into him totally content.
We lay there in silence, but my mind wouldn’t rest. “Gabe?”
“Yes, Colin?”
“Thank you,” I said, my mouth dry.
He gave me a squeeze. “For what?”
“Everything. Bringing Becca home, getting justice for her, giving us a place to stay.” I paused, the words catching in my throat. “And for just being you.” The last bit I whispered. “I hope it doesn’t scare you, but I think I’m falling in love with you.”
I felt his lips press against the back of my neck. “That’s good,” he said. “Because I’ve been in love with you ever since that day in court.” His hand ran down the length of my arm, bringing back my shivers, but in a much better way. “In fact, I’ve been thinking maybe we should make it permanent.”
My heart leaped to my throat. Was he saying what I thought he was saying? And was I, the total commitment-phobic man, ready to answer the way I was considering? I held my breath and waited.
“Colin? That doesn’t scare you, does it? I’m willing to wait...”
“No,” I said, breathlessly. “I’ve been yours from the very start. All you have to do is ask. The answer is yes.”
“It will always be yes.”
Epilogue: Five Months Later
“DO WE REALLY HAVE TO wear suits?” Zane asked, wrinkling his nose to show his distaste. Matt was okay and on board with the dress up, but Zane was holding out on us.
Gabe shrugged. “Wedding party members have to wear suits.” He looked over at me, standing across the room rummaging through my closet for my favorite tie. Then he lowered his voice and bent down to Zane. “Your dad lost a lot of good pictures in that fire, and I thought we’d replace them with some photos from today. Just think how good we’ll all look dressed up in our finery.”
I smiled and pretended not to hear their whispered conversation. I loved the fact that the title of Dad was now mine officially. Judge Freeman had paid us a visit last week and taken away the provisionary status. It seems the last inspector’s report had happened without our even knowing it.
We’d all been playing a gentle game of touch football in the front yard at the time of his visit. Yeah, I’d come a long way in five months. I still wouldn’t be running any marathons, but I could hold my own with Zane... and Matt too, which is saying quite a bit.
Snapping on Zane’s tie with a flourish, Gabe sent him and Matt downstairs to check and see if Molly needed any help.
The insurance company hadn’t messed around with getting our house rebuilt, and since it was pretty much a ground up build, we had made some modifications to the design. The main one being the small apartment added on to the back of the house. Nothing fancy, just a small bedroom, a sitting room with kitchenette, and a small bathroom with shower stall.
It was Molly’s for as long as she’d have us.
She had options now as she had completed her GED and had a diploma of sorts. Most likely, though, Molly wouldn’t be working for anyone else anytime soon. As it turns out she has a way with words. Of course, the stories she writes are very different from mine, but money-wise, she’s starting to slowly build her following. She just may pass me one day. And I love the competition.
Finally finding my favorite tie, I pulled it out and turned to Gabe. He took it and motioned for me to turn around so he could put it on me.
“You know,” I said. “This day would be perfect if Becca were here to stand with us. She would have loved you, you know.”
Gabe kissed the back of my neck gently and then smiled at me in the mirror. “Hey, what’s not to love, right?”
He was trying to make light of it and distract me from my morose train of thought. But something else had been bothering me.
“I still don’t understand why Michael was trying so hard to take Zane. He just never struck me as the kind that would want kids.”
Gabe finished with the tie and turned me back around to face him. “He never really said, but I think he saw children as a status symbol of some kind. All the ones above him on the corporate bank ladder were family men. Maybe he thought that was what was holding him back.”
I nodded. With Michael, that little thought would have been enough.
Good thing for him, I wouldn’t have to see him for a very long time. Gabe and Joshua had seen to that.
According to Michael, Becca’s death had been an accident. She had fallen down his basement stairs to her death. Of course, we disproved that th
eory with the broken taillight containing Becca’s blood. She’d come to in that trunk and had been at herself enough to kick out that light. If he’d taken her to the hospital instead of running to his dad...
Gabe finally managed to break my morose train of thought. A kiss from that man can do that every time.
“Hey you guys, the guests are getting restless, and these little guys aren’t going to stay clean for long,” Molly called up the stairs.
It was enough to get us moving.
Hand in hand, we walked down our staircase and into our festively decorated back yard. As we left the house, the music started playing. We had decided to go non-traditional, so it wasn’t the wedding march playing. Instead, we went with one of our favorites, Bon Jovi’s I’ll Be There For You. It kind of said it all as far we were concerned.
The boys were standing beside Judge Freeman at the end of the rose petal path, and my mom was sitting in the front row, smiling back at me. It was as perfect as a day could get.
We took a deep breath and started walking into the beginning of our new life.
As a family in the eyes of the law.
