A Touch of Spring: Spellbound Series Book 1 (The Spellbound Series) Page 5

When finally he snuck his hand up her skirt, she gave a soft moan as she held on to his arms, afraid her legs would give out. With one sweeping motion, he spread her legs apart. Jane threw her head back and cried out as he slipped a finger inside her.

“Does it feel good?” he asked. She nodded, biting her lip. She met his eyes, and he drove it in deeper and faster. Her moan echoed in the cave. He stopped to pull down the skirt, and she saw he was taking in her naked form.

“Wow,” he said admiring her, and he took her hand, guiding her into the pool. They were half submerged when he laid her back. She floated but noticed that she didn’t have to put any effort into it. It was as if she lay on a surface rather than on water. He stood over her side, his lips finding her again.

When she felt a tickle on her feet, she noticed the water from the pool was gliding over her somehow. It went up her legs, over her breasts. She knew he was manipulating it. When a gush of water sprayed between her thighs, she was reminded of her shower attachment and felt herself close to the edge of climaxing.

  But he had other plans.

  Axel

He couldn’t believe it. He’d half expected her to say she didn’t remember anything that had happened the day before, much less confess to it being the truth. Now he had her gloriously naked in the water. Her tits were such perfection he had to constantly handle them to revel in their plump flawlessness.

Every time he looked at her ass, now hidden from his view under the water, he felt his hard dick throb. He ached to be inside her, but he wanted to give her a hint of pleasure before he took it himself.

Each time she moaned he felt it reverberate inside him... all the way to his cock. He loved hearing her, the way she expressed herself when he pleased her. When he could no longer resist, Axel pulled her under with him. When out they came, their bodies slick and wet, he grabbed her by the waist and drew her to him. She was ready for him, he knew, the look in her eyes a quiet desperation. He wanted to feed that hunger, and so he did.

She wrapped her legs around him as he carried her to the wall of the pool. At last he found what he’d been desperately waiting for as he entered her. Her moans were more than he could take, and he held her close for a few seconds. They rested their foreheads together as their united bodies grew accustomed to one another.

While Axel didn’t want to read her mind, images came to him anyway. He saw her watching him sunbathing, her in the shower as she thought of him, the way he looked to her now. Jane squeezed her legs around him, and he gave in. Axel withdrew and then filled her again and again, urged on by the whimpers of pleasure she emitted. In fact, the sounds seemed to charge him with even more energy and hunger for her.

He sensed her impending climax, and it brought him closer, the idea of making her come all the more scintillating. He pushed on and on, kissing her messily wherever he could. Jane threw her head back so he could kiss her neck, and she paid him with the sex noises he’d heard when she slept the other night. Feeling himself ready to let go, he thrust harder still, her body taking each and every single one with euphoric cries.

Axel knew she was almost there, and he tried to hang on, difficult as it was. She brought her head forward and leaned it on his shoulder as she cried out. He felt her spasms around him, and he pushed her into the wall, his own release so magnificently powerful his legs started losing their grip. His grasp around her entire body tightened, and he let out a fierce groan.

When he finally regained use of his muscles, Axel pushed off of the wall.

“Are you okay?” he asked, afraid he’d hurt her in his roughness.

“More than okay,” she said, catching her breath. She reached up to touch his face, and he closed his eyes, marveling that she was still touching him. He pulled her in and hugged her, pulling up the water around them too. He didn’t want to let go.

“You’re something else,” she said, sounding content. He was happy to have put her in this great mood.

“You’re the special one,” he said, hoping he wasn’t overdoing it.

“I think we’re clean enough,” she said, now shyly swimming away from him. He grinned at her attempt to return to the proper woman she normally was. But he’d always know what it was like to have Jane trembling at his touch.

When they left the tree, an awkward silence settling between them, the last thing he wanted to do leave her side. “Let me show you something,” he said, and they walked off towards the forest.

He wasn’t sure why he hadn’t thought of showing her this hidden spot before. Now that she’d been... receptive to him, it was the perfect surprise for her.

He watched her face as it glowed with awe. He tried to see it from her Earthbound perspective. Lavender willow trees surrounded them, as did fields of tulip-like flowers in every direction. A babbling brook ran directly through the tulips. He lay down on a patch of grass, and she followed suit. They watched as butterflies and dragonflies flew past them. Birds played a springtime jig up in the trees.

Axel turned to his side, hesitated a moment, and then caressed her face. Her smile made it all worth it. Then she looked at him, and he saw her eyes were smiling too.

“Why would you leave this place to go to the city?” she asked.

He explained how he had been looking for a human wife, but his search had not gone well. He reminded her that human wives provided stronger-minded children.

“So kind of like a marriage of convenience?” Her eyebrows came together.

“I hoped not, though it turns out that way for some. I want to marry someone I at least like, and that’s what’s been so difficult for me,” he said, avoiding the other L-word. He leaned to kiss her, and she readily accepted him, her full lips soft and pliable to his.

She put her arm around his neck, and they pulled each other in, their kiss deepening. Then he saw a vision through her eyes, and it was not of himself. He pulled back, catching his breath and seeing her confused. Why was she thinking of Andrew while kissing him?

“I… um. I’m getting a message about a group of dangerous men out in the forest. I have to meet with Darick to discuss it,” he told her. He’d said it as an excuse, but the meeting with the men was also something he couldn’t keep putting off.

“O..K...,” she said slowly, and they walked along the brook on their way out of the forest. “You will be safe, won’t you?”

He looked at her, surprised she thought of his safety. He took her hand then, trying to forget that vision. Andrew’s face was a reminder of so many things. The secret he’s keeping from her. The love she feels for her fiancée. He wondered if she felt cold now as she usually did when he was feeling jealous.

“Yes, I’ll be fine. We’re only planning right now. We’ll probably send out a small group, since these men aren’t numerous. I’m hoping it will be a quick and painless mission.” He was counting on it. He was also hoping those men were not part of a larger group. Axel left her by the big tree so she could do as she wished with the rest of her day, and he headed to meet with his brethren.

  Jane

Jane wandered around the village, talking to the locals that approached her and trying to ignore her guilt at still being engaged to someone and having slept with someone else. Then she recognized the old woman who had given her that drink.

“I see you made use of what I gave you,” the woman said with a knowing smile. Jane thought she might really be a witch. Why not? She was in a land of fairies after all.

“Why did you give me that?” Jane asked.

“To show you what you really wanted. I could sense your hesitation.”

Jane got closer to the old woman, “Yes, I certainly haven’t hesitated since. Is it a spell? Does it last forever?”

The woman laughed. “It’s not a spell. I actually got it from your land. Some drug they use over there. Anyway, it leaves your system after a few hours. Anything afterward was all you.”

Jane thought about what she said. Yes, she kne
w she’d betrayed Andrew and that she’d made that conscious choice, but in her heart she knew she could not have married Andrew. Not after feeling this way for another man— so fast and intensely. Axel had been so wonderful with her, and he was so caring with his family. It’s not that Andrew lacked all of this. She wanted all of that and the sensual side.

Axel had proven he was a passionate man, and she hadn’t realized how necessary that feeling of sexual attraction was. With Andrew it had felt... obliging. With Axel, it had been raw and liberating and so freaking amazing! She felt herself getting flushed just thinking about it. She stored away the memories of earlier that day for future enjoyment. If only she could find a human man back on Earth with all of these qualities…

“I have a request. Axel says you do know of certain spells. Is there a way to get a message to my land?” Jane asked the woman. She wanted to tell Andrew something and figured if Genevieve could receive the message, then she could relay it to Andrew.

“It has been tried, but unsuccessfully. Would you like to try again anyway?” the woman asked.

“Me try? I can’t do that,” Jane said.

“Come inside.” The woman stepped into her cottage under the hill. Jane followed her in, seeing a much simpler setting (a table, two chairs, a bed, and not much else) than what Axel and his family had up in the branches. On a shelf was a collection of small, unlabeled bottles filled with all sorts of ingredients.

“What are we going to do?” Jane asked, not willing to drink anything else this woman gave her.

“I will try first to reach out my mind, see if anyone over there picks up my message.”

Jane watched as the woman closed her eyes and brought her hands up to her forehead. After about a minute of this, the woman started hyperventilating and Jane helped her to a chair.

  “Are you okay?”

“I’ll be fine. I was able to sense Princess Genevieve, but I couldn’t make out what she was trying to tell me.”

“Is she the only one of you that is in my world right now?”

“Oh, no. There are probably another handful of men searching for their wives.”

“Oh. But none of them answered?” Jane was disappointed. Anyone over there could have picked up the phone and given Andrew her message— at the very least to let him know she was alright.

“Genevieve seemed to have a message of her own, so she must be open to receiving. But I lost her.”

“Were you able to get anything from Genevieve?” Jane asked.

The old woman looked grave and answered, “Maybe this will make sense to the prince, since he was just there with her. She said, ‘They’re alive’.”

Jane crushed her brows together, unsure what it meant, but she would tell Axel anyways.

“Thank you for trying,” she told the old woman, and made for the door.

“Don’t you worry, my dear. You’ll soon be married to the prince and have no need to send messages to your world.”

Jane gave her a half smile and left. She had forgotten for a moment that she was the fake fiancée to the prince of this land. What would it look like for him to be dumped by a human woman who wanted to return to her world? Axel was definitely giving up a lot for his father, and she admired him all the more for it.

She returned to the big tree and found Dori sitting outside and singing.

  “That’s very pretty,” Jane said.

“Thank you,” the girl replied. Then she whispered, “It’s my mating song.”

Mating song? “I don’t have a mating song in my land. What does that mean? How old are you Dori?”

“I’m 15. We marry much younger here than you do in your land. Mother was 18 when father brought her over, and that was already rather old.”

Jane laughed. “I’m much older than 18,” she said, thinking of how ancient she must seem at 27. Dori gave her a funny look.

“Then you will have to have your children quickly,” the girl said. “A mating song is what us girls sing to the men we want to marry. If the man wants to marry the girl, then he must sing the song in at the gathering place on either the Night of Eternal Light or the Night of Eternal Dark. Those are the only two nights in the year a marriage can take place. I have three months to perfect my song and choose a husband. If he does not accept, then I must wait until winter for my next choice.” She said it all so matter-of-factly, and yet Jane couldn’t help wonder if her own social mores were influencing her opinion of these too-young girls getting married.

“Do your parents wish you to marry?” Jane asked, more curious by the second.

“Of course, but it is my supreme wish, so I can have many children as soon as possible.”

“So then Genevieve broke with tradition?”

Dori’s face fell then. “Not only that. She left us to go to the other land to help Axel, and now he says she is stuck there because of the shattered portal. I miss her terribly, but yes, she broke with tradition and hasn’t sung her mating song to anyone. Well, except when she was 15. Mother says that when he did not sing it back to her on the Night of Eternal Dark, she was very distraught. Since then she merely plays around with the men here and has told me many times that she doesn’t care to marry. I think her heart was broken.”

“It sounds like it,” Jane said, trying to absorb all of this information. She had learned so much today about this place. She was sure there was much more she couldn’t even imagine.

  Axel

Meeting his men at the gathering place happened much quicker than expected. As soon as Axel sent out the message, they all dropped what they were doing and headed to the spot. Looking around, he recognized everyone, but there were a few faces he was surprised to see. Some were boys when he had left his homeland. Now they were men, standing ready to protect their families and friends.

“So Darick tells me that these men have been camping out deep in the forest and making threats, but to whom have they spoken?” Axel asked loudly.

“I have received a message from one of them telling us to leave our homes and never return or they will burn everything,” said a man, stepping forward.

Another man by the name of Gord stood to say, “I, too, have had a message, but it was more personal. They knew my wife’s name, and said they would burn the house, with her still in it.”

“And nobody knows these men? Or why they threaten us?” Axel said.

Darick stood in the center now. “I’m afraid, brother, that your return has increased the number of threats. I received a message telling me that the next time I step through a portal I should stay there. If you think about it, Gord’s wife is a human. The threats grew when you brought back another human woman. This is their motive.”

“You believe they’re anti-human?” Axel asked, wondering if such a thing could be true. Why? Humans increased the strength of their people. He looked around at the men, many of them nodding.

A young man of about 17 years spoke up, “I was sent a message that said they would burn my house down if I even thought about leaving through a portal. It’s like they knew what was going on in my mind. How can they do that?”

Axel responded, “It is odd how they’re targeting specific people with specific threats. My guess is there’s a spy, which would be treason. Even worse, the other explanation is that their minds have capabilities ours do not, and they can read a mind that has not opened itself.” The men looked gravely at each other.

“How do we know where their camp is?” Axel continued his interrogation. The men gave various accounts of being shown in messages exactly where these troublemakers are staying. Probably to instill fear. Maybe as a trap.

“If we go right where they’re waiting for us, who knows what will happen. We need to approach them in a way that would surprise them,” Darick said.

“Agreed,” Axel said. The men continued their discussion through the evening. Many broke off into smaller groups, shifting around until Axel formed a large circle again to bring together all the ideas. They v
oted on a plan, each man raising his right hand, making it unanimous. The next day would be Day 1 of their attack.

As Axel returned to his quarters the stars lit his path, but inside his bedroom it was pitch black. He walked in by feeling himself around. He did not want to light a candle or torch so as not to wake up Jane, but then he heard her stirring.

  “Axel?” she said groggily.

  “Yes, I’m home,” he said.

“What’s going on with those men?” she asked. Axel lit a candle by the bed, and told her everything he’d learned in the gathering place, even the suspicions about the threats being motivated by prejudices against humans. He didn’t want to keep anything else from her.

“But don’t you worry,” he reassured her, “We will start tomorrow, and I’ll keep you safe.” He wanted to hold her tight and tell her he would protect her from anything at any cost. But he didn’t. He was scared she would back away if he said too much, too fast.

“I have a confession,” she said, changing the subject. He looked at her, wondering what secrets she held. “I went to see the woman who gave me the drink.”

Axel’s face grew hot as he joined her in the bed, and his tone deepened, “The witch? Are you crazy? Did you take anything else from her?”

“No. Calm down,” she said, her hand on his bare chest. She slid it down to rest on his stomach as if it was the most natural place for her hand to be. As if it wasn’t killing him to restrain himself from pouncing on her that very moment. She continued, “She was able to contact Genevieve.”

His face lit up then, and she told him what the old woman had received from her.
