“You have a beautiful baby girl,” the nurse told them.
“I hope she looks like her mom.” Derrick kissed Elise’s cheek.
“The women in your family are all good-looking women,” she told him, fighting to keep her eyes open.
“Yes, but they aren’t in your league. Our daughter should be gorgeous like her mother is.”
“You won’t be saying that when she’s a teenager and boys start wanting to date her.”
“No, probably not,” he agreed.
The nurse showed them their daughter.
“Oh Derrick, she’s perfect.”
“Yes, she is. Exactly like her mother.” He kissed her and softly thanked her for giving him another child.
“I just checked the time,” the nurse told them. “It’s 12:04. You have a Christmas baby. Congratulations.”
