Trina laughed. “I don’t know about that,” she said, and Reno laughed too.

Then he frowned. “Have you been drinking?” he asked. “You haven’t been drinking, have you? And you can’t go back into the casino. Not around all of that smoke. And when’s your next doctor’s appointment? I’ve got to clear my schedule. How far along are you, anyway? Are you out of the first semester, or whatever it’s called? Are you at least out of that danger? Or is it dangerous the whole time? I don’t remember, Tree. I don’t remember! Maybe Sal can give me pointers?”

All Trina could do was smile. What she thought was going to destroy their bond, just might make it stronger. Because Reno was all in. He was onboard. Even to where he was actually considering accepting fatherhood pointers from Sal of all people. Sal!

“What about you?” Reno asked. “Have you been getting your proper rest? We’ve got to put you on a rest diet, Trina. No more overworking for you. I’m going to see to that.

“Yes, Reno,” Trina said, and shook her head.

And now it began, she thought happily.
