Matchmaker's Guidebook Page 4

  I think that would depend on the person. I mean, if it seemed like there could be something there, but there just wasn’t the immediate spark, I’d give it more time, but if we don’t have the same values and interests, AND there is no spark, then I would move on.

  First off, I’ve been treating this entire application as a confidential document between me and the agency, so none of this is to share without my permission!

  I grew up with four sisters and I am the second to youngest. My parents moved to Colorado from Canada because my dad works in the Oil & Gas industry. My mom is a high school math teacher. We were well-taken care of, no money worries or anything, my parents put me through college and helped me with vet school. I went to CU Boulder and was on the alpine ski team.

  I’m close with my family (we all still live in Colorado), but we’ve all gone in really different directions. I know I can count on them if I ever needed them. It’s actually a bit strange that I turned out to be such a tomboy because my sisters are all super girly girls.

  I think part of the reason I’m overlooked is due to being the fourth of five daughters. My parents were kind of “been there, done that” by the time I rolled around. My littlest sister was the baby, so she got a lot of attention. Truth to tell, the few times I’ve liked a guy, my little sister always flirted like crazy until she got his attention. She’s engaged to the one guy I thought I could really fall in love with, but I realize now we were not right for each other, so I’m actually kind of relieved. Anyway, she tells me I don’t have a sexy or romantic vibe and guys can tell. Maybe they even think I’m gay, which I am not! I drive a huge truck (which doesn’t help my image) to carry all my dogs, bikes, kayaks, and skis.

  I’ve always loved animals and I knew I wanted to be a vet from the age of ten. I have been a high achiever because I had that dream and knew it wouldn’t be easy (vet school is more competitive than med school!) Now that I am doing what I always dreamt about, it’s time to challenge myself in a relationship rather than the friendships I’ve always had with guys. I have one “permanent” dog, Jinsha, and three rescue dogs that I train and find homes for. When one goes, I replace it immediately so there are always animals around. If I had a house instead of my condo, I’d have more dogs at any given time.

  You might want to give me a makeover before you send me out there! I’ve got a rockin’ bod and a pretty face but I don’t know how to make myself look like dating material.

  As for my ideal partner, I want a real masculine kind of guy who is very sure of himself but has a warm and fuzzy side of himself. He must love to be outdoors and works in a job he is passionate about.

  Okay, I think that’s about it!

  Why are you using a matchmaker?

  I’m using a matchmaker because I’ve never had a boyfriend! I’m not even sure I’ve been on what a person might call a real date! I’ve been told I’m pretty, but I’m definitely “one of the guys” and I hang out in a big group of friends.

  FAITH

  Do you belong to any religious organization, sect, or cult? Please list your denomination below.

  * * *

  DENOMINATION:

  I’m more of a spiritual person than religious. So I am more a pagan. Love the whole nature stuff, especially when dancing naked around a bonfire.

  1. How often do you go to church, synagogue, or other?

  I only go to church if it is a family thing, and only if I can’t come up with a good excuse to miss it.

  * * *

  2. Would you be willing to date someone outside your faith?

  Maybe, if he is willing to dance naked with me sometimes

  * * *

  MARRIAGE

  1. Are you seeking a life partner?

  Yes maybe…I want to have fun first.

  2. Do you want a family? How many children?

  No kids. I am fine being Aunt Lyddie to my sisters’ kids. Too much responsibility.

  * * *

  FAMILY

  1. How would you prefer to spend your holidays?

  (Mountains? Beach? Hotel/amusement parks? Camping/hiking/backpacking? With family?)

  Am I alone? It makes all the difference in the world. Mountains and camping would be great only if I have a guy to keep me entertained. Beach if no guy, so I can find some hot man to go to the mountain with. No amusement parks…too many kids. And as long as my sister Mary isn’t going, I might go with family. Mary preaches at me too much.

  * * *

  2. How do you feel about relatives visiting?

  For a day or two? Most of my relations, no problem

  Longer is okay? Maybe, especially if it is Kitty.

  They could live with you? Are they footing the bills? If not, no way

  * * *

  3. How would you manage family order? (i.e. Who would be in charge of what? Money/finances? Kids? House?)

  My future family? I am in control of the money. There better not be kids. My husband had best realize from the start, I’m not the maid. He can hire a maid, or do the housework himself. He best have someone to tend the yard as well. My car had best be in good shape, as I have an image to uphold.

  * * *

  WHO ARE YOU?

  1. What is a motto or creed that you live by?

  Life is short, enjoy every minute

  * * *

  2. What is your ideal rest day?

  A spa day, with mani/pedi, massage, the whole treatment

  * * *

  3. What is your most embarrassing moment?

  When my sister Mary decided to tell my last boyfriend that he was going to hell for having sex with me, as we weren’t married. The worst part was when she held her bible in the air, calling for lightning to strike him for fornicating.

  4. Do you believe that you are a fun person?

  I am extremely fun. Just ask my friends

  * * *

  5. Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten? Twenty?

  Australia

  I barely have a bank account.

  * * *

  FAITH

  Do you belong to any religious organization, sect, or cult? Please list your denomination below.

  * * *

  DENOMINATION: No denomination, but I believe in God and a higher power that guides us all. I mostly believe in love and kindness toward our fellow man and animals. If we can’t show charity to others, especially those most in need, then what are we here for?

  * * *

  How often do you go to church, synagogue, or other?

  Twice a month. And I do service work at least one Sunday a month. I visit the assisted living apartments, Azalea Estates, where I play bingo with my friend, Rose. Or I’ll spend an afternoon helping Jimmy at the humane society, Angel Paws, to feed and wash the strays he’s taken in.

  * * *

  Would you be willing to date someone outside your faith?

  Of course. But he must be a man who believes in charity and kindness toward others, not in how big his bank account is or how expensive his car is.

  * * *

  MARRIAGE/FAMILY

  Are you seeking a life partner?

  YES

  Do you want a family? How many children? I would like at least two children.

  * * *

  How would you prefer to spend your holidays?

  (Moun
tains? Beach? Hotel/amusement parks? Camping/hiking/backpacking? With family?)

  Mountains, Camping, Hiking, Biking

  * * *

  How do you feel about relatives visiting?

  My family could live with me if they wish.

  * * *

  How would you manage family order? (i.e. Who would be in charge of what? Money/finances? Kids? House?)

  I believe in an equal share of responsibilities. I want a man who isn’t afraid to change diapers or wash the dishes. I’d especially like a man who could cook breakfast for me and the kids. I don’t mind managing the house and expenses, but work should always be divided equally. This is the 21st century, after all.
