Marley smiled at her two men.
“And lively like her two dads,” she complimented.
Pride shone in their eyes as they gazed lovingly at both her and the baby. At that moment, Marley knew that although it had been rough breaking up with them all those years ago, and even rougher being away from them for so long, the distance had been necessary to make them grow and to become confident in what they wanted in life. The separation had made them strong because now they treasured every moment since being back together.
The men showed their thoughtfulness and caring by taking turns in making her breakfast in bed during the last couple of weeks before she’d given birth. They showed it in the way they looked at Marley, their gazes filled with adoring love. And there were so many other little things too. They put the toilet seat down in the large three bedroom apartment bathroom they’d moved into together a couple of months ago. The two men took turns cleaning and dusting the place. They made the grocery list and did the shopping and were her sounding board for the stories she wanted to write.
She loved them dearly. It was as if they’d never been apart. It was as if time had just mended their hearts and allowed them to move forward without any bitterness. It was a miracle and she’d never been so happy in her life.
Marley gazed at her baby. Her newborn was a miracle too and Marley knew she finally had the family she’d always longed for. Not a traditional family as she’d hoped. This one was better. And she wouldn’t have it any other way.
