“Make us,” Emily asked as she stood in front of Melissa with her arms crossed.

“Come on, Alex. We all know that those guys who attacked the school were here for you. The whole school was talking about it. So, why don’t you tell us what’s really going on?” Derek said.

It started to feel like the voices in my head were getting louder, and I was having a harder time ignoring them. I clenched my fists and started breathing heavily.

“Back off,” I said softly as I stood in front of him with my chest out.

“Or what, huh?” Derek asked as he grabbed my shirt.

I immediately heard one of my trainers to shouting at me to get him, and I grabbed his hand and twisted it off my chest, and then I grabbed him by the neck slammed him into a locker and started to choke him to death. All the anger and rage left over from the bathroom fight came rushing back to me like a wave. I could feel every bit of the rage going through my body.

“Let him go, dude!” one of his friends said as he tried to break Derek free, but I stopped him by hitting him in the stomach. Another kid came in to try and release Derek, but I back kicked him away.

Derek tried to escape by punching me, and it knocked my head a little bit.

“I...can’t…breath!” he said as he gasped for air.

As I strangled him, I could begin to hear my trainers screaming at me to kill him. I started to increase my grip as his face began to turn blue.

“Alex, stop it! You’re killing him!” Sarah shouted.

I quickly snapped back to my senses and let him go. He collapsed to the ground gasping for air, and a large group of students surrounded us, watching in horror. Almost all of their jaws were dropped open, and they couldn’t take their eyes off of me.

“Stay away from my friends, you understand me?” I replied. I turned to Emily. “You too.”

I pushed some students aside and walked to class.

After class, and throughout some of the day, I saw some students bunching together, looking at me and whispering about me. Some kids even walked away from me.

When I got home, I logged onto my computer and got to work on cracking the password to the Union file I downloaded the other day. I spent at least an hour trying to figure out what the code was and had no luck. After spending hours typing, I then remembered what the one assassin said just before he died on the day of the bathroom attack. I typed in “longlivetheunion” in, and it worked. When I opened the folder, there were five documents in it named one through five. I clicked on the first file and then went through the others.

The first file contained a lot of information on the Union. According to the file, it said that was founded at the beginning of the Cold War. Apparently during World War 2, Nazi spies infiltrated all of their major enemies during the war, wiped their records completely, and replaced them with fake ones. After the war ended, they then infiltrated the highest levels of power from banks, to positions in the government. They then spent the next ten years uniting the world’s rich and powerful to form the Union with one goal in mind: to rebuild the world as they see fit.

Their plans did include a plan for the rich and powerful to rule the world, and the poor to be enslaved without knowing it. It also said that they were indeed behind many major political disasters throughout the Cold War and beyond. Many people tried to blow the whistle on the Union but wound up dead in apparent suicides.

I searched the file, and found something else. It contained vague information on who exactly uploaded the files. The only personal information that was listed is that the person was a man. The man who uploaded the files did work for the Union. The file said that this person was in huge debt, and that someone from the Union approached him, promising to help the man pay it off. They accepted and began working for the Union. Their work mostly consisted of destroying information.

One day, the man grew tired of the jobs that he was doing and wanted to leave. The Union forbade it and said that if he did that, he would be killed. So, in retaliation, he gathered all the information he had on the Union and attempted to leak it. They had planned to leak not just one, but multiple files, online. That was all the entire file said about him. Whoever this person was, they must have been killed before they could release the other files. I searched the web for anything about who this person was and found nothing. He didn’t even leave a name, or any other personal information.

  Chapter Thirteen

I skimmed through the rest of the Union files. In one of the files, there were links to other sites that contained information on the Union, some of its employers, and some of its activities. However, it was nowhere and nothing near enough to bring the Union down.

One employer named Albert Jackson got my attention. He was one of the heads of the Union and the head of the bio-weapons division.

I also found a lot of information on the Unions bio-weapons division, including information on the Type-1 and the new but experimental Type-2 serum. The Type-2 serum can supposedly cause mutation in cells. As I looked at his blog, I heard something outside of our house. It sounded like someone moving around outside, possibly an intruder.

I got a call from John.

“Alex, listen up. We got word that the Union unleashed bio-weapons on your town. Stay put. Jack and Harper are on their way,” John said.

I took a peek outside my bedroom window. I didn’t see anything at first, then I saw a figure that looked like a person, but it was so dark I couldn’t make heads or tails of it. I rushed to my parents who were sitting in the living room watching TV.

“Go to the basement and lock your selves in. Something is wrong,” I told them.

“Alex, what is it?” Dad asked.

“I saw something outside, and I got a call from Mathis saying that bio-weapons were spotted in town. I need you both to get into the basement, and don’t let anything in,” I demanded.

“What?” Mom exclaimed as she and Dad got up.

“Just hide down there for now, okay,” I said as I walked them to the basement.

I went to turn off the lights in the house, and then I went outside through the back door to investigate. I heard what sounded like someone breathing heavily. I turned left and saw what could be only described as giant, muscular, mutated-man with a dual-bladed chainsaw. His face was covered with a sheet of metal with holes where the eyes and nose were. The creature saw me, revved his chainsaw up, and attacked.

The mutant took a swing at me but missed. I retaliated by doing a 540 spinning hook kick to his face, but that barely did anything.

The mutant attacked me again, but I dodged again and retreated to find a more formidable weapon to use against him.

As I searched the house, I found my Dad’s chainsaw in the shed to use against the mutant. The mutant followed me to the shed. Once he got close, he took a swipe at me, and I blocked with my own blade. He swiped again, and I blocked and countered by hitting him in the chest.

The mutant swung at me and destroyed my chainsaw before kicking me into a wall. I slowly got up and backed into a corner, and immediately heard gunfire go off. Bullets struck the creature, taking it down. When the mutant drooped to the ground, Jack and Harper stood there.

  “Are you okay?” Jack asked.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Showing up sooner would have been nice,” I replied.

“Got stuck in traffic,” Jack said.

“What the hell is going on?” I asked.

“The Union unleashed bio-weapons throughout the town. We need to secure the area,” Harper said.

“How many are there?” I asked.

“Right now, we’re tracking two. There may be more, but we need to get to the police station to inform the National Guard in case there are more,” Jack said.

“Right. So where do we begin?” I asked.

“Follow us,” Jack said as we walked to their vehicle.

“Wait a second,” I said as I turned around and went back inside the house to get my parents. I opened up the basement door and called o
ut to them.

  “All clear,” I said.

  “Are you okay?” Dad asked.

“I’m fine. We need to get to the police station now,” I replied.

We all proceeded outside, got into the vehicle and drove off.

“What the hell is going on exactly?” Dad asked.

“Bio-weapons are attacking the town. The Union is after Alex, and we need to protect him and take out the bio-weapons in the town,” Harper said.

“Why does the Union want Alex dead so badly?” Mom asked.

“He’s the sole survivor of the Omega Project. He’s trained and engineered to destroy. He poses a serious threat to the Union,” Jack said.

“Well we need to get him to safety then!” Dad said.

“No. I can handle myself. I’m not afraid of these guys,” I replied.

“It does not matter if you’re not afraid, you could get hurt or killed,” Mom said.

“Look, I know you guys don’t want me to get hurt; but trust me, I know what I’m doing,” I said.

We arrived at the police station where Jack and Harper notified the cops there, and they called the National Guard. The station was going crazy with people calling saying that creatures were attacking. My parents sat on a bench near the front desk.

“Okay, just stay here until the ‘all clear’ is given,” I said.

“Are you crazy? I’m not letting you go out there!” Mom said.

“Look, I know what I’m doing. I can handle this,” I said.

“I don’t care. You could get killed.”

  I paused for a second.

“Look, I know you don’t want me to get hurt. But if I can find these guys, I may be able to get some answers on what they did to the Omega Project. Please let me go after them.”

My mom folded her arms and took a breath.

“Okay, just be careful,” Mom said.

I headed outside and back to the truck. An STR truck drove into the station loaded with many weapons.

“Help yourself. We’ve got all the good toys,” Harper said.

I inspected all of the weapons. Using them was easy for me mostly because I was trained to operate and maintain hundreds of firearms since I was ten. As I examined some of the weapons, I came across an assault rifle with a grenade launcher. It was slightly bigger than a sub-machine gun, but it felt perfect for me.

“That’s an LR-300 assault rifle. It is light-weight and good for speed,” Harper said.

“I know what it is. ZM LR-300ML assault rifle, 5.56x45mm rounds, I’ll take it,” I said as I prepped the gun by putting the clip in and cocking it. I also pulled out a pistol.

We proceeded to eliminate the bio-weapons in the town. There was still one more that we knew of: a giant seven feet-tall creature that resembled what was once a human. He was very muscular. He had dark gray skin and a muzzle over his mouth. There were reports by police that more bio-weapons were being deployed into the town.

We found the creature at the town square attacking civilians. People were running away screaming and panicking with the creature attacking and throwing people around into cars and nearby shops. Cops shot at it with their pistols, but it barely hurt the creature; it attacked and killed them. I saw Derek and Emily being chased by the creature. They tripped on a piece of debris and fell. The creature was walking toward them slowly while they tried to get up.

“Open fire!” Jack shouted as we started to shoot at the creature. We shot at it with everything we had, but it didn’t seem to do much. The creature charged into us, but we quickly dodged it, and the creature slammed into a wall. I quickly ran over to Derek and Emily to help them up.

“Come on, get up!” I said as I helped them up.

“Alex, what are you doing here?” Emily asked.

“Don’t worry about it just get out of here,” I said as they ran off.

  Derek turned around toward me.

  “Thanks,” he said.

  I nodded at him.

As Emily and Derek ran off, I turned around and opened fire on the mutant, but the bullets were doing almost nothing to him. The creature turned and attacked me by knocking my gun out of my hand and kicking me across the lot.

I got back up and landed a spinning hook kick to its face, followed by a side kick, and then I punched it several times in the face. It didn’t seem to have much effect on the creature. In fact, it seemed to piss the creature off even more. He threw a punch. I blocked and punched him in the stomach several times, then followed with an uppercut to its face, which didn’t faze him. He kicked me again, sending me flying into a wall.

Jack shot at the creature with the light machine gun he brought, drawing the creature away from me before he could attack me again. Harper started to shoot at a weird growth on its back; it was round, green, and looked like a giant pimple. The shots to the growth seemed to weaken the creature.

“Aim for the growth on the back of its neck!” Harper yelled.

Jack continued to fire on the creature to distract it, so we could shoot the growth on its neck. The creature came at Jack while I took my rifle and shot at the growth. The growth exploded, and the creature went down.

  “Nice shot,” Jack said.

  “Thanks,” I replied.

We continued on with the patrol. We found a convoy with five armed guards, all dressed in black, and a truck just outside of town. We took cover out of sight.

“Union mercenaries. No markings on their uniforms,” Harper said.

“We need to find out where they came from. It can’t be far from here,” I said.

“One of those guards must have a map on them. We should check it out,” Harper said.

“We’ll sneak up and take them by surprise,” Jack said.

We approached the Union patrols quietly. I took out two guards by kicking one in his leg and elbowing his face. I grabbed the other guard’s gun, kneed him in the chest, ripped the gun out of his hand, and shot him and the other guard just before he could grab his gun. Harper did a simple take down by slamming the guard’s head into the ground; and Jack simply broke one of the guards’ neck and kicked the last guard in the face, knocking him out. I searched the guards, and one of them had a map in one of his pockets. We examined the map to find out where the Union may have kept the bio-weapons.

“This looks like a map to wherever the Union has the bio-weapons stored,” Harper said.

“It should be about a couple miles from here,” Jack said.

“Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go,” I replied as we got into the jeep and drove off.

  Chapter Fourteen

We reached the Union base and prepared to infiltrate the facility. The map led us to an old, abandoned meat packaging warehouse that the Union was using as a staging area to unleash bio-weapons onto the town. The parking lot was filled with the same trucks that we found in the town with armed guards patrolling the area. As we arrived, we saw the Union loading up the bio-weapons in some kind of metal containers and shipping them out by truck. We took cover in the nearby woods.

“Yep. This is a Union outpost all right. We should infiltrate the area,” Harper said.

“We can attack from different angles. It will throw them off if we’re detected,” I said.

“Right Let’s move out,” Jack said.

We infiltrated the facility. There were three entrances: one in the front, one on the side, and the other at the back. I took the side entrance while Jack took the main entrance, and Harper took the back. I have received more than enough training to do a tactical sweep of a facility, which meant to clear the area of all hostel forces. Clearing the area was second nature to me.

As we approached the warehouse, I took cover behind a crate. I grabbed one guard and broke his neck, took his pistol, and killed the other two guards nearby. The guards at the facility immediately caught us and came at us.

I entered the warehouse and killed the first three guards I saw. Blood spattered from their bodies as I shot them.

  I entered th
e next room, which had a staircase leading to the next level. Two guards came down spraying bullets toward me and spewing debris everywhere. I took cover and shot them. Three more guards came in from a nearby door, and I sprayed my rifle at them, killing them and spreading more dust and bits of debris everywhere. I went upstairs, and I was immediately attacked by a guard. He grabbed my rifle. I countered by head butting him, kneeing him in the chest, throwing him over my back, and shooting him once he hit the ground.

I reached the back of the facility where I meet up with Jack and Harper.

“All clear. Nothing here,” Jack said.

“Yeah, and it was way too easy. They must have loaded all the bio-weapons,” Harper said.

“So, are we too late, then?” I asked.

  “Possibly,” Jack said.

“I don’t understand. The security is too light for a staging area,” I said.

All of a sudden, the power went out. I thought it was a malfunction, but then I heard something crawling up the walls.

“Did you guys hear that?” I asked.

“Sounded like movement up the walls,” Jack said as we turned on our flashlights.

I sensed something moving up the walls. At first, I thought it was my senses playing a trick on me. But then I slowly moved the flashlight attached to my gun toward the wall and spotted a bio-weapon.

The creature pounced toward us as I moved the light onto the creature. He was gray, really skinny, and at least six feet tall. His eyes were completely black.

I picked up my rifle and opened fire on the creature. Jack and Harper opened fire also. The creature climbed up the walls and attacked us from the shadows by hiding and then striking by pouncing toward us.

The creature managed to disarm us by using its tongue to knock our weapons out of our hands. The creature lunged at me, and we wrestled for a while.

Jack and Harper had recovered their weapons and tried to shoot, but they could not get a clear shot.

I got back up and pulled out my pistol. As the creature came to attack, I dodged and shot him. The creature attacked again, but I countered by shooting him two more times. Finally, I shot the creature three more times in the chest and twice more in the head before it went down. We regrouped.
