  HOLLYWOOD GAMES

  Brace yourself, Scotland. Hollywood’s coming…

  * * *

  Rory’s found the love of his life but can he be sure Zoe feels the same? What can he offer her when his job’s on the line, and his mother’s out to destroy her? When Hollywood superstar, Brad Bauer, shows up wanting to film Braveheart 2 at Kinloch castle, it seems like the answer to all his prayers. However, there’s a catch.

  * * *

  Zoe’s had a crush on Brad since she was a teen. Now he’s here, hotter than ever, and convinced he was married to her in a past life. As Hollywood descends on the tiny village of Kinloch, it’s not just the castle that’s under siege.

  * * *

  A mystical holy man, a sexy starlet, an intense megastar and a couple pushed to the edge. Can Rory navigate the glitter storm and keep his eye on the prize, or by saving the estate, is he about to lose the best thing that’s ever happened to him?

  Acknowledgments

  Even though Highland Games is dedicated to Pash Baker, I’d also like to thank her here. This book, and in fact the entire Kinloch series wouldn’t exist without my amazing friend. In the summer of 2019 she helped me extricate myself from a situation that was crushing my soul. Once out, she told me I had to write for half an hour a day and send her what I’d written. I started in June, and by the end of October, I had two hundred thousand words that became Highland and Hollywood Games. Pash is my alpha reader, my sounding board and my ultimate cheerleader. I could not have done it without her.

  * * *

  When I wrote the words ‘The end’ in the autumn of 2019, I should have ended with a question mark, not a full stop. The Highland Games you’ve just read is verrrrrrrrry different from my first draft. Helping me batter it into submission in the nicest possible way, has been an army of truly wonderful readers and writers. I am indebted to my first beta readers. They taught me so much about writing and how to hone my craft. Thank you especially to Julia, Kelly, and Margaret, who have been with me from the start, and become such incredible friends. Margaret deserves a medal for reading this book at least fifty times over the last two years, and spending far too much of her precious time making me laugh and helping me fix the seemingly unfixable.

  * * *

  Thank you to my outstandingly supportive friends, in particular Ali, Dilara, Jacqui, Linden, Sarah and Satz. Thank you for reading my early drafts and always believing in me, even when I don’t believe in myself.

  * * *

  A huge thanks goes to my editor, Aimee Walker. I am truly blessed to have her. She is an incredible editor and a phenomenal human being. She has my back and keeps me steady, steering the good ship Evie in the right direction, no matter which storm I have accidentally blundered into.

  * * *

  I’d also like to thank two Mikes. If you ever want an absolutely brutal assessment of a romance novel, then you need to send it to ‘Indent’ Mike or ‘Storage Yard’ Mike. One is a six-foot-six, skinhead, ex-copper crime novelist, and the other is a six-foot-two, professional copywriter who writes novels about the horrors of World War One in his spare time. Neither of them had read a romance novel until Highland Games… Their comments and suggestions were not always easy to hear, but they made this book infinitely better and I am incredibly grateful to both of them for their insights.

  * * *

  My team at Emlin Press: Victoria, Mandy and Taryn. Thank you for doing everything I can’t, won’t, or don’t have time for. Thank you for tolerating my foul mouth, and laughing at my unfunny jokes.

  * * *

  To my cover designer Bailey McGinn, thank you for designing the perfect cover for Highland Games. I love it!

  * * *

  My family of course gets a special mention, in particular the two people who suffer the Evie Experience on a daily basis. Husband, you are the best decision I have ever made. Elway, you are the best luck I have ever had. I love you to the end of the universe and back.

  * * *

  And finally, before I dissolve into an emotional puddle, I want to thank YOU! Yes, you the reader. Because, really, at the end of the day, every word I write is for you. So thank you for letting me introduce you to Zoe and Rory, and I can’t wait to bring you more adventures with them and their friends in 2022!

  Ps - I love love LOVE hearing from my readers so please get in touch via email or social media to ask me anything or just tell me about your day!
