Cowboy Confessions Page 21

by Gail MacMillan

“Hell…heck, that’s not until February!”

“Yes, but we do want Shelby and Jake and Katie Rose and maybe even Grady, if he’ll agree, to be able to come.” She grinned at him. “And we can’t ask them to leave their family over Christmas. They told me they have a big party planned at the farm. So Valentine’s is the next holiday…and the most romantic.”

“Ah, now, baby girl.” Her father used his pet name for her as he leaned back against the counter to wait for the coffee to brew. “That’s a long time to ask any fella to wait.”

“It’s okay, Jack.” Ross was grinning. “I spent a lot of time already with this lady driving me crazy. I’m pretty damned…darned sure I can wait a bit longer.”

“What’s all this stumbling over the cuss words?” Jessi looked at him.

“Not good language to use around kids. I’m trying to cut back, just in case…”

He didn’t finish. Jessi’s lips had stopped his words.
