For a couple of weeks now Abbey wondered how this moment would unfold. She envisioned several scenarios but not this one. An apology was the last thing she expected.
“Come sit down and bring us up to date on your life. What the hell have you been up to?” Adam ran his fingers through his hair and moved to sit in his chair behind the desk.
“Nothing compared to what you two have been up to. How do you explain all this?” She waived her arms.
“To make a long story short, about a year and a half after you left, the club we frequented was going on the market and the owners, our buddies, made it possible for us to buy it. We now own four.”
“Wow! Lucky for you.”
“Yes. It was a lucky break. When this one came on the market, I had to have it.”
“Why? What’s so special about this club?” She eyed the man curiously.
“It’s very profitable.” Jeromy supplied.
“Unbelievably so,” Adam added.
“Do you fellas know what happened to the previous owner?”
“Yes. Poor bastard was shot through the head right here in his office.”
“You seem to know all the details yet this club was still appealing to you. I don’t understand
how that can be.” “Abbey, in this business money talks.” “Or shuts you up.” She added quickly. “That too, unfortunately. And there are only certain individuals willing to take that risk.” “You’re telling me you two are among those individuals?” “That’s right. When we found out how much dough this place was pumping I saw our names on
the deed. We made it happen.” “You made it happen?” “Yea.” The pair eyed each other. “When you want something bad enough, you make it
happen.” “Did you guys know Lorny?” She didn’t miss the exchange of glances. “Our paths crossed a few times.” “Crossed? That doesn’t necessarily mean in a good way. What aren’t you telling me?” “Abbey, Abbey! You haven’t changed. Relax. We know a lot of people in this business, good
and bad. Listen, since you’re now related to the boss, you can pretty much dictate your own hours. When you get it figured out, let me know and I’ll arrange it.”
Abbey’s senses triggered at what she heard in his tone. Something about them she didn’t trust. In essence nothing had changed and she was as shocked as the two of them when the next words came out of her mouth. “That won’t be necessary because I quit. There’s something too weird about me working for my step-brother.”
“Don’t be silly. You don’t mean that. Look, take some time to get used to the idea, and...” “No, Adam. I won’t be coming back.” She rose and began to retreat. “I wish you fellas luck. I
think you’re going to need it.” “Abbey, don’t make any rash decisions. I hate when you do that. You may regret it.” “Goodbye Adam...Jeromy. I’ll see you around.” “Wait, Abbey. Let’s talk about it. We’re doing some re-organizing, maybe a manager’s job
might interest you or we could pull you in as a partner in this place. You can work and pay off your shares. Yes. That would be an excellent idea.” Again the duo eyed each other. What do you say?” “No. Oh...I accept the apologies. Better late than never. Thanks. But I will not work for my step-brother,” her eyes encompassed them both, “or have my step-brother pimp for me.” All the way back to the apartment Abbey nursed an uneasy feeling. There was something rotten about those two and the stench was following her. It wasn’t anything she could put
her finger on, just an inkling.
That stench made itself known the moment she walked into the office. In fact, it was an astute reason why she quit. Before seeing them she had no idea what she’d say. When the words tripped out of her mouth, she was astounded. But now that she had time to digest it all, she felt relieved, like the weight of humanity had been lifted from her back.
Where the hell was Rick? She checked her watch. It was shortly after two. He’d be working for a while yet. The apartment was empty when she got back. Mandy had gone out and didn’t leave a note. When the shrill of the phone cut through the silence, she jumped. “Hello.”
“Hi, honey. Did you just get back?” “Yes. I thought about calling you but figured you may be busy.” “I am. Just wanted to make sure you’re okay.” “Rick...I quit my job.” “It went that well, did it?” “I didn’t plan that to happen. It just went down that way. Those two gave me the strangest
feeling. I don’t know how else to explain it.” “Well, then...you did the right thing. You know what they say about gut feelings.” “Yes. They can leave you jobless and penniless.” “You don’t have to worry about that. Trust me. Louise is leaving me at the end of the month.
You can be my secretary slash housekeeper...if you want. If you don’t, I’ll have to interview a few
gals.” “You won’t need to interview,” she laughed on the outside. “Good Anyway, I wanted to let you know we’re leaving a day earlier for our trip. Be ready day
after tomorrow.” “No problem. Am I going to see you before then?” “Yes. We’re doing dinner tonight. I’m cooking. I’ll pick you up at five thirty.” “It’s a date.”
Rick was right on time. When he pulled up in front of the building she jumped in and snapped her belt in place. She saw the grocery bags in the back seat and smiled. “What are you cooking tonight?”
“Steak, baked potatoes and salad. Will you give me a hand?” Abbey clapped her hands and waited for his rebuke. “Of course I’ll help.” Rick unlocked the front door and motioned Abbey inside. He set down the bags and pulled her
into his arms. “Hmm, you smell good.”
“Thank you.” Her lips trailed the nerve in his neck.
“How hungry are you?” He knew what he could do to keep her mind off food.
“Why? Are you reneging on your offer to cook?”
“No. Not at all. I’m debating what to do first, the stakes or you. Can you help me out?”
“Well...if I have a choice I’d say me.”
“Wanna use the magic room?” He pulled her in that direction.
Before she could answer, he pulled her with him, taking her off guard. She landed on top of him in he hallway. “I don’t think we’ll make it that far.” She laughed, holding him tightly, loving every inch of him.
Rick’s legs shackled hers while his hands pressed her thighs. “You’re right. I don’t need magic where you’re concerned. I just need you.”
Her intake of air trapped in his throat. She closed her eyes letting the words sooth to her soul “I need you too, Rick.”
His brow inched upward. “Right here...right now?”
She swallowed. His hands squeezed, demanded, inching over her like hot brands. He rolled her over and slowly pressed her legs apart. This wasn’t exactly what she expected but she had no complaints.
She felt his gaze shift to her crotch, hot in its inspection. Her reaction was instantaneous. The throbbing pulse between her thighs, the one already out of control, became voluminous. She could hear it pounding in her ears. Her panties filled with liquid heat only to scorch her from the intensity. She had to get them off.
Rick made it simple. He pulled off her pants then ripped the lacy shreds in two. The rest was easy. Her shirt pulled over her head and her bra snapped open. “There’s my girl.”
Abbey needed the love, the dick and she wasn’t feeling it yet. There was still a barrier of clothing between them. With both hands, she took hold of his shirt and ripped it open, dodging flying buttons.
The laughing felt great. Rick growled then helped with the rest of his clothes. This specimen was her man. He turned her on like no one else. Never had she felt what she felt with Rick. He ignited a torch within that quickly consumed her entire being. His fingers found her inner thighs and teasingly inched upward. “You are so beautiful.”
Abbey held her breath, trying to keep her eyes from rolling to the back of her head. Although with her eye shut, the anticipation was too sever. She had to focus. She wanted, needed to see the
man she loved make love to her.
Thank God, she did. His eyes lifted to hers and she saw for herself how explicit his expression was. Pure masculine desire burned in his gaze while testosterone ripped through his body, she also saw the love in his eyes. Those combined forces turned her inside out. Today, for the first time she was self-confident enough to recognize the love. If she didn’t feel his dick soon she’d scream. Why was he stalling?
The answer to that question was forfeited when his fingers picked up their slow, tantalizing path along her sensitive skin. His expert hands induced her passion and intensified her craving. The urges needed to be sustained. Now would be a good time.
Looking at him through a glaze of impassioned desire, she realized once she crossed this special intimacy line with Rick, her personal vagina whisperer, she could never be without him again. Never be separated from him, never just friends. They’d crashed through those stigmas. It was now full speed ahead.
Their spiritual and sexual chemistry intersected and joined as one. She would never forget this poignant moment and by the look of Rick, neither will he. From this moment on they will be forever changed, forever bonded. His fingers found her slit and parted the lips. His mouth quickly followed. “Hold still woman.” “I can’t. I want you so badly.” She was naked and needed to feel his skin on hers. Abbey writhed, seeking that sensual comfort. She forced herself to lie straight and still and crossed her palms to her breasts, cupping them in a reverent cross. She coped with the screams of her flesh. Rick moved to his knees, pulling her up to meet his embrace. He kissed her, outweighing her need with his own. “I like the sound of that.”
That great cock nudged her mercilessly. It was rigid and throbbing, the veins standing out bluely, the moisture drops like an ointment on her skin. Abbey pulled him down on top of her and like an automation, his cock found its place and plundered. She felt the pelt of his ejaculation and began to cum too.
It wasn’t long before she collapsed, panting, drained of all feeling for a frightening moment as though she had used up all the sexuality, all the sensuousness and all lubricity that God had granted for her lifetime.

The plane on their return from Africa was on time. Abbey elbowed through the crowd, loosing sight of Rick for a brief moment. “Wait for me.” She hastened her step.
“You look tired. We’ll be home soon.”
“Home?”
“Yes. Our home.” He told her effectively.
“I’m very happy.” In fact, happiness threatened to burst from her insides.
As they exited the airport, the next taxi in a long line moved up. The driver got out and opened the passenger door and trunk. He waited. “Have a good trip?” Rick ushered her ahead of him but as she moved past she bumped into someone. “Excuse me.” Looking up she noticed it was a police officer or a security guard. She wasn’t sure. “Abbey Fuller?” The uniformed man asked, his expression indicating the seriousness of the
question.
A second officer strode up behind him. “Yes. That’s me. Why do you ask?”
“We need you to answer a few questions.”
“Go ahead. Shoot.” She said naively.
“You don’t understand. We need you to come with us.”
“What is this all about, officer?” Rick piped up.
“We’ll get into it at the station with Miss Fuller. This way, please.”
“But...I don’t understand. Why do I need to go to the station?”
“As a part owner of an adult club, we need to question you about some illegal activity. Now please follow me.”
“What?” Abbey was dumfounded.
“There’s some mistake.” Rick scratched his head. “Abbey isn’t an owner.”
“Rick, go home with the luggage I’ll go with the officers and straighten all this out.” She knew whatever this was about, Adam and Jeromy had to be at the bottom of it. A sinking feeling dove to the pit of her stomach and beyond.
“Maybe I should go with you.”
“No. I’ll handle it. But stay by the phone in case I do need you.”
“Tell you what. I’ll take a cab home, deposit the luggage then drive down to the station. I should be with you.” Rick watched her walk away with the officers. It was several minutes before his limbs mobilized and he was able to pick up both suitcases and set about his task. What the hell was going on? This was absurd. He thought about Adam and Jeromy but couldn’t figure out how they fit into this equation. He did know it wasn’t good.
Three hours later Rick entered the station and was directed to the appropriate office. “Abbey! Everything okay?”
“Hi, Rick. Yes. We have a handle on the situation. Will that be all, detective?”
“For now. We’ll likely need you back here a couple of times however, we’ll let you know ahead of time.”
“That’ll be fine. You have my number.”
“I do. Thank you for your time Miss Fuller.”
She turned to Rick. “Let’s go.”
“What the hell was that all about?” He led her toward the exit.
“Jesus! I need a strong coffee.”
“We’ll go to the drive-through down the street.”
“Let’s do it.” She sighed. “God, Rick, are you ready for this one?”
“Yes. I’m braced.”
“Well...it seems like the dandy duo forged my name onto the club’s deed.”
“Ah! Trying to hide some dirty deeds of their own.”
“Yes. Apparently just temporarily until something blew over. They didn’t want to risk loosing their holdings. Of course, what they didn’t know, was the cops were already onto them, which led to their investigation and ultimately to me.”
“Jesus Christ! What the hell are they into? Drugs?”
“Possibly. I’m sure we’ll have all the answers in a few days.” Abbey rubbed her eyes. She was exhausted. “Where the hell is the drive-through you mentioned?”
“Right here.” He pulled in and followed the take-out lineup. The server handed Rick two perked brews, which he handed to Abbey until he could maneuver out of the lot.
Abbey set his in the drink compartment then pulled back the tab on her own lid, allowing her to take a healthy swallow. “Damn! It’s hot.” She burnt the roof of her mouth. “I’m so tired, I can hardly think straight.”
“Yea! I’m tired too but I’ll likely be awake all night wondering about those two.”
“Hopefully we’ll find out a few things but realistically, there’s plenty we’ll never know. I could tell the detective was tight lipped. And I for one, am happy about that. How dare they drag me into their schemes!”
“You’re the perfect scapegoat. It was a lucky set-up for them, only they got caught. I wonder
what the hell is going to happen?” “You know, this whole experience has made me wonder whether or not those two idiots would
commit murder for advancement. Because if they would...it might bring new light to Lorny’s shooting.” “Do you think that?” He whistled. “I don’t know. Like I said, I’m tired and I can’t think straight. I’m sure the police will get to the
bottom of everything.” “No doubt they will. What will you do if they end up in jail for a long time?” Are you going to run the show?”
“The detective said as far as he knows, all four clubs will be my responsibility. This one, because my name is on the deed, and I’ll inherit liability for the others because I’m family. He did advise me to get a lawyer to hash out all the technicalities.”
“Holy shit! You’re going to have to move fast.” “I’m not sure I want to. That’s a large burden to bear.” “What do you mean? Of course, you have to. Even though their methods are underhanded, they
still had the brains to attach your name and keep those clubs out of government or mob hands.” He looked over at her in amazement. “If you don’t do this Abbey, a lot of people are going to loose their jobs. All those customers will migrate elsewhere and we’ll never get th
em back.”
“Do you really think I can handle this? I’m not feeling the confidence.” “You can handle it. It’s time you put that college business degree to good use.” “I don’t know, Rick. I’m not convinced.” Looking over at him, she saw the incredulity in his
eyes. “I’ll help you get started. You won’t be alone. Besides, I know you’ll be a terrific boss. All the ladies will love you. They’ll finally have someone they can identify with. What do you say?” “All right. I’ll give it a shot.” It was hard trying not to laugh at his enthusiasm. “Besides, it’ll probably be a temporary arrangement anyway.” “Good for you. Abbey is finally at the head of the class and running the empire. Poetic justice in a way.”
“In a way.” She looked over at the man she adored more than life itself. Her pulses leaped at the briefest sight of him. She couldn’t help herself. Another powerful outside force struck her as well. A power that seeped into her body, lifted her soul, and handed it to Rick on a silver platter. “Rick?”
“What, honey?” “Will you marry me?”
His head sharply turned toward her. “Will that keep you here in New York?” “Yes. That will definitely keep me here in New York.” “Then, yes.” He replied without a second thought. Looking over at her, “there’s much to be said
about not thinking straight. He laughed “Yes, there is.” She reached for his hand. “Finally! A god-damn commitment out of you!”
