He stalked into the large walk-in closet, surveyed the many suits hanging up, grabbed one and laid it on the bed. “I want to see you in this fucking suit in an hour. And you better not do anything that’ll embarrass me. Tonight, very prominent people will be attending the benefit. Act any way less than perfect and the consequences will be dire.” He punched the wall near Jace’s head. “Do I make myself clear?”

The gorgeous young blond-haired man nodded, tears burning his eyes. He watched as his husband strode out of the room. Dejected, he sunk down on the large custom made California King bed. How had his life become this?

Not more than three years ago, Jace Reynolds was the new face in male underwear. His pretty boy looks landed him a huge and immediate success with famed designer, Hayden Gordel. He was the head male model for House of Hayden male underwear collection. That was when he met Octorian. Theirs, had been a fast, passionate romance. Octorian literally swept him off of his feet. Jace had come from a broken home where homosexuality was a no-no. Bigtime. His dad tossed him out of the house no sooner he graduated high school. His poor mom watched. She never took up for him. Never stopped his dad from coming at him with cruel words or a raised fist. She just watched it all. Maybe that was why it was so easy for him to attach himself to Octorian. To soak up all the affection and attention and become blind to its hidden warnings. Within six months of heavy dating, they were married. He’d given Octorian his body, his love and now…his blood. It started out as harsh words, then progressed to slaps, then full out punches, kicks, you name it. Of course, every time he was sorry and swore it wouldn’t happen again. The last time, just four weeks ago, had been the most frightening. They’d gone out to dinner with a French businessman, Pierre Fabre, whom Octorian was hoping would invest in his company Vanderhuff Inc., which specializes in consolidating. The French man obviously had more than dinner on his mind. From under the table, he engaged Jace in a carnal game of foot caressing. Jace just managed to not jerk, when Pierre’s silk clad toes rubbed against his dick and balls. Cutting his eyes towards Octorian, he looked to see if the man had heard his gasp. If looks could kill. He had and he wasn’t pleased. Much to Jace’s delight, Pierre gave up the foot massage. Instead he insisted that Jace dance with him. Of course Jace declined, claiming to not know how to dance.

“Well mon cher, I came all this way for dinner and dancing. Discussing business straight away is. What do you Americans say— boring,” Pierre had countered.

Octorian shot him another look that clearly said he’d better get his ass out on that dance floor. For twenty minutes he had to suffer the groping and sexual innuendoes of Pierre. Finally the night came to a close. They returned home only to have Octorian start in on him about flirting with the Frenchman.

“Obviously your parents never taught you how to behave around company!” he hissed, spittle flying from his mouth.

Oh no, he was in a rage.

“I didn’t want to dance with him Oct. You insisted.”

  Bam.

That remark rewarded him with a clap across the face. The kind of slap that made your head snap to the side.

  And he didn’t stop there.

Grabbing a handful of Jace’s lovely wheat-blond hair, Oct dragged him upstairs and tossed him across the bed. Strings of his hair remained in Oct’s hand. The look emanating out of Oct’s once lovely grey eyes, was completely feral. Jace tried to climb over the bed and make a run for the bathroom. His plan had been to lock himself in the bathroom until Oct calmed down. That plan was bamboozled when Oct grabbed his ankle and dragged him to the edge of the bed. Again he grabbed hold of his hair roughly.

“So you want to flirt with the Frenchman, like some common whore and make me look bad.”

  “No-I-.”

“I should’ve left your yamp ass doing those fucking underwear commercials. I knew you were nothing but a young tramp when I saw you. No, instead I let myself get pulled into your seductive lures.” He was ranting like a true lunatic. Without saying another word, Octorian began his assault. After forcefully shoving his penis into Jace’s mouth and nearly choking him, he withdrew, flipped him over and entered him roughly. His movements were increased as Jace’s cries intensified. If the beatings and painful sex wasn’t enough, Oct stalked into the bathroom then returned holding an alarmingly sharp pair of scissors. His next words literally scared Jace to death.

“You know, the French believed in castration. I wonder if I cut your pretty little balls off, will that ensure that you’ll be faithful. Maybe a little embarrassment will curb your enthusiasm to run around.”

“B-But I haven’t. I-I’ve never been unfaithful to you,” Jace swore.

Octorian placed the cold metal against Jace’s balls. A twisted sadistic grin marred his features. Jace’s eyes widened in fear as he begged and plead with Oct to put the scissors down. That he loved him and wouldn’t dream of cheating on him.

“No, no, no,” Oct shook his head. “I saw you. You were all up in that man’s face tonight. You allowed him to put his hands all over you.”

“No-I didn’t. You told me to dance with him. I never would’ve—arg!” Jace hissed as the sharp point pricked his sensitive skin. Tears rolled down his cheeks as he begged Oct to stop. Pain flared through his balls and dick. He repeatedly told him how much he loved him and apologized for any and all wrong doings. His cries and pitiful apologizes finally got through to Oct and he put the scissors down.

His nearly insane gaze had zeroed in on a spot on the bed.

  Blood.

His confused and sorrowful expression revealed that he hadn’t meant to cut Jace. Lifting Jace’s leg higher, he’d inspected the damage.

Fuck, the man swore violently, which caused Jace to tremble. There was about a three inch cut
that was spurting blood, like a geyser.

“See what you’ve made me do!” Oct yelled as he stalked into the bathroom only to return with a sewing kit. From the mini bar in the room, Oct grabbed a bottle of Patron and handed it to Jace. “You better drink up, this might be painful.”

While Jace gulped the potent drink like mother’s milk, Oct threaded a needle with green thread and ran it through the fire of a cigarette lighter. Jace shook in pure trepidation knowing Oct wouldn’t risk taking him to the ER. What would be the excuse this time?

From somewhere deep inside of him, Jace found courage and kicked out as Oct reached for his leg. The man was mad! He was actually going to do it himself!

“Stop fighting. You’ll only incite my anger and make things worse. And Jace, trust me,” he smiled evilly. “You don’t want them to get worse. I can change you from a rooster to a hen with one snip.”

With eyes wide open and a pray in mind that he’ll pass out soon, Jace laid there while Octorian began the gruesome tack of stitching the cut. By the time Octorian tied off the thread, Jace was out in la-la land. Thank god.

Upon awakening, Jace was in a world of pain. He’d stumbled into the bathroom and screamed blue murder when he had to relieve himself. Taking the handheld mirror off of the double square sink vanity, he maneuvered the glass in a way that allowed him to see what was done to him. The mirror dropped shattering into thousands of shimmering shards as Jace gasped in pure horror. Not only was the thread green but Jace’s balls swollen to the size of oranges. Fuck if this wasn’t a true Frankenstein operation. Who the hell would ever want him looking like this?! Cloaked in misery, Jace made his way back to the bed and cried himself to sleep.

Something had to give. It just had to.

After that attack, Jace realized that Octorian was crazy and if he stayed, that craziness could surely be the result of his end of life.

So he started gathering together his plans of escape.

“Jace, you ready?!” Octorian’s voice carried from the first floor.

  “I’ll be right down.”

Octorian’s eyes lit up as he smiled at Jace as he descended the stairs. “Ah baby you look divine.”

Once that praise would have made Jace smile and feel beautifully sexy. Now it only made him cringe inwardly. See that’s how the evenings would start, on a good note. But then by the time they returned, the beast would rear its ugly head and Jace would be the one wearing the scars.

“Thank you,” he managed a fake smile. He couldn’t do anything that would tip Octorian off as to his plans. Either two things would come out of this night. His death or his freedom.

  2

The event was held in beautiful downtown Buckhead Georgia, at the exclusive Chevaliare Hotel. You could smell money before even entering the hotel. Octorian was excited. In his mind, he saw this event banquet as a way to hob-nob with the rich and famous and strike up potential business ventures as well. All he needed to pull the company back from financial disaster, is a healthy investment of fifteen million dollars. His family had not been in the same class as the Rockefellers but they never starved either. His dad, Ares Vanderhuff had built Vanderhuff Inc., from the ground up. He’d be turning in his grave if he knew the current status of the company’s holdings. What could he say? Octorian liked expensive things. Liked them so much that he hadn’t kept his eye on the dollar amount but instead spent widely and extravagantly. Now those endeavors were coming back to bite him in the ass. He had to do something quick before the IRS come calling. With a perfectly plastered smile on his face, he escorted Jace from their black Aston Martin Rapide, into the tall smoke glass building.

“Behave yourself,” Octorian leaned over and whispered in Jace’s ear before kissing the lobe before moving off to speak with a business acquaintance.

Jace took a side glance at his husband. Octorian was handsome, there was no getting around that. He sported strong Greek roots from his father’s side. His hair was almost jet black and those clear grey eyes, were mesmerizing. They say that the eyes are the mirror to the soul. Well, his lied their ass off. They didn’t reveal the monster that lived inside of him.

For the remainder of the evening Octorian acted as the perfect husband. He introduced Jace to all the prominent men and women who attended. Several times, Jace had to question himself, could he really do this? Could he leave?

Jace was staring in the direction of the restrooms when Octorian pulled him closer to his side.

“Babe I want you to meet someone. This is Prescott Carrington of Carrington Enterprise.”

Jace smiled sweetly. “Nice to meet you sir.”

“Oh dear, he’s almost too sweet to be real.” The man nudged Octorian in the side, “Got’em trained huh.”

Jace’s cheeks burned with humiliation. It was no big secret in the world of business that Octorian Vanderhuff preferred men. Nor was it a secret that he was married to one. However the little exchange between Carrington and Octorian, had Jace feeling more like a tramp instead of a husband. Trained. Wow.

As Prescott and Octorian engaged in conversation, Jace looked towards the bouquet table. Suddenly his stomach growled. Octorian hadn’t allowed them to eat at home so of course he was hungry. Moving towards the table, Octorian grabbed his hand and tugged him back to his side. Then squeezed his hand quite painfully, letting him know without words to stay put.

That gesture laid clear the path for the rest of the night. Octorian was going to go fool once they returned home.

  It was now or never.

  “Excuse me, Octorian.”

“Excuse me,” Octiorian said to Prescott, then turned to Jace. “What is it, baby?”

“I have to use the bathroom,” Jace whispered.

  “Go and come right back.”

“Of course,” Jace reached up on tip-toe and placed a chaste kiss on Octorian’s cheek. “I’ll be right back.”

Once Jace had gone, Octorian turned back to Prescott, who wore a smug smile on his face.

“How is it that you have him so-obedient?”

  “It’s the good loving.”

  Both men laughed.

Jace hands shook as he reached for the stairway door. His expensive leather shoes kissed each step as he quickly made his way to the ground level. He’d dropped his cell phone on the stairs during his descend, after turning the device off. He’d been planning this exit for the past four weeks. As he came rushing out of the building, he spotted a Marta bus. The air braked squealed loudly as the bus rose to rejoin traffic.

  “Wait!” he called out.

The doors screeched open and he hurried aboard. Now he sat at a window seat facing traffic, looking for Octorian’s car to pull up any moment now and demand that the bus pull over. If that happened he could kiss his life goodbye. No way would Octorian let this slide. Luckily his husband never appeared. When the bus pulled up before the train station, Jace hurried away from the vehicle and rushed into the building. He went directly to the locker stations, withdrew his key and opened the metal box marked, 640. In it were two Jan Sport backpacks. One bag had a pair of sneakers, three pairs of jeans and three T-shirts. There was also a short black male’s wig. The other bag held seventy five thousand dollars cash. Taking the first bag into the bathroom, he quickly changed clothing and fixed the wig on his head in a way that looked as natural as possible. Now fully dressed, Jace stood before the large mirror in the bathroom. He shook his head at the transformation, he looked totally different. After paying cash for his ticket, he boarded the train for Virginia. He didn’t take his real first breath until the train pulled out of the state of Georgia.

Octorian smiled as he kept conversation with the small crowd of men before him. All the while his eyes scanned the floor for Jace. He made sure that neither of them had eaten anything before leaving the house. So god help him if Jace was in the bathroom embarrassing him in any way. He would pay dearly. Twenty minutes later his eyes fell upon the large clock on the wall. This is fucking ridiculous.

&nb
sp; “Excuse me,” he said to the men before walking off in the direction to the men’s restroom. With each step his anger mounted. By the time his hand wrapped around the doorknob, he was literally seeing red.

  “Jace!” he hissed.

  Silence greeted him.

Going from stall to stall, Octorian threw each door open. When the result was the same each time, he roared in fury.

  Where the hell was he?!

Suddenly the door opened and one of the men from the circle entered.

  “You okay?” the man asked.

Pulling himself together, Octorian replied, “No, I’m looking for someone.”

“Oh, do you mean that adorable blond guy you had on your arm earlier?”

Octorian grind his teeth. “Yes, him. My husband.”

The man didn’t miss the steel in his tone.

“I thought I saw him leave the banquet room maybe thirty minutes ago. I thought perhaps he’d taken ill and returned home.”

The top level of enamel on his teeth probably broke off, as hard as he grind them. Without another word to the man, Octorian stormed from the bathroom. He was like a man on a mission. He accessed every balcony and room on that level and came up empty every time. Smoke was literally blowing from his nose, he was pissed as hell. Finally he pulled out his phone and called home. When the voicemail picked up, he nearly tossed the phone into the nearby wall. A passing couple stilled his hand and saved his phone from that fate.

“Trust me you don’t want to do that,” the man smiled. “They charge an arm and a leg to replace that type of phone.” He and his wife continued on.

Calming himself, he slowly released a breath before stilling his shaking hand enough to dial the number. A husky male voice answered the phone.

  “What’s up boss?”

“Did Jace come back to the house?”

There was a moment of silence. “Uh, no. I thought you guys left together.” Vince stumped out his cigarette on the bottom of his shoes. Damn, if his boss lost his husband, then things around the house was about to get seriously fugly.

“I want you to do a full search of the grounds thoroughly. If you find him or he arrives at the house before I return, detain him. Lock him in the fucking bedroom and stand guard.”
