“Oh, we’re going to get it.” I smiled slowly, glancing up at Knox. “Right, honey?”

  “I’ll talk to Doom tomorrow.”

“Screw that,” I said, and headed to the pool table. “We’ll talk to Doom now.”

  “Jesus,” Knox hissed, following me.

“Doom,” I called, and he looked up from the shot he was about to take.

  “Yeah, babe.”

  “We need to talk.”

He looked over my shoulder and a smirk formed on his mouth. “We do?”

“She wants the house,” Knox said.

  “The Martel one?”

  I nodded. “Yes.”

“It’s gonna take a shit ton to fix, but it’s a sound investment,” Doom said.

“Boo-yah!” I said, and faced Knox. “Make it happen.”

“Jesus.” Knox laughed. “I guess I gotta make it happen.”

“Woohoo!” I cried out and clapped my hands. “Let’s celebrate.”

Dash and Willow walked in a few minutes later and we spent the rest of the night celebrating with our friends and family. We mapped out our convoy plans to Monument, and made lists of everything we needed to bring, putting my OCD need to organize everything to rest.

As the night went on, my earlier mood was lifted and I was once again reminded why I loved family nights with the club.

MONDAY EVENING, WE were still at the compound. Another body had been found, so us women were locked down again. I got Kinsey down about eight, then made my way downstairs to join the girls for cheesecake (made by Willow), but found that Badger was back and my focus shifted to him. “Hi,” I said after he kissed me hello.

  “Hey, baby. Kinsey asleep?”

  “Yes. Just.”

“How are you feeling?” he asked.

“Good, actually. I didn’t get sick once. Of course, I took my pills on time, so there’s that.”

  He smiled. “Good job.”

  “How was your day?”

  He grinned. “Busy, but good.”

“Did my brother crack the whip?”

Badger scrunched his face up in disgust. “Don’t put that visual in my head, Welly. Jesus. If anyone’s gonna crack a whip when it comes to me, it’s you.”

  “Kinky.”

He grinned, kissing me again. “You wanna go crack a whip?”

“Absolutely,” I whispered, goosebumps whispering over my skin in anticipation.

  “Badger,” Doc called.

  “Yeah?”

  “All-hands.”

“Shit,” he breathed out, kissing me quickly. “Rain check.”

I wrinkled my nose and nodded. “Okay.”

Badger grabbed a beer and left me, heading to the back.

I followed Dash and a couple of the other brothers down the hall and to the back. Usually, if there were meetings other than Church, Dash and I wouldn’t be involved… officers only, but tonight was different, which left me with a boulder in the pit in my stomach.

Taking a seat next to Dash at the wall, we waited for the officers to file in and take their chairs at the table. Doom was the last to arrive, sitting beside Alamo just as Doc slammed the gavel on the table.

“I’ve been given some information that’s gonna cause some unrest,” Doc said. “I need you to all keep in mind our women are here and if you fuckin’ lose your minds, they’ll hear you, so keep your composure.”

“Shit,” I whispered. This wasn’t good.

“Michael Westgate has gone to ground.”

“What the fuck?” I snapped, careful to keep my voice at an acceptable level. I glanced at Alamo and could see his face turning red as he fisted his hands on the table. He apparently already knew.

  “How?” I asked.

“Still figurin’ that out,” Alamo said. “Doom and I are heading to Colorado tomorrow to look around.”

“How long are you gonna be gone?” I asked.

He shrugged. “As long as it takes. I’ve got a couple of the Howlers lookin’ around. I’m hopin’ they’ll find something fast.”

“I’m locking my girls down,” I said.

“Good plan,” Doc said. “Got a plan to turn our other conference room into a bigger kids’ room of sorts if no one objects. Family nights are getting full. In a good way.”

I agreed, as did the rest of the brothers.

Doc nodded. “Talk to your women and find out what kinda kid shit they want, and if we’re missing anything that’ll make a mother feel like her kid’s unsafe. For now, we’ll lock our women down and find Michael. Alamo, you got Jasmine sorted if you leave?”

“Yeah, brother, she’s agreed to be here,” he said. “Stump’s on her.”

  “Everyone good?” Doc asked.

Everyone nodded, and we were dismissed.

I ended up heading to bed alone. I had no idea what the meeting was about, but it was taking forever, so I had a feeling it wasn’t good. I tried to read while I waited, but I couldn’t seem to focus, so I pulled up solitaire on my Kindle and let my brain shut down.

The door to our room slowly slid open just after midnight, and I sat up and set my Kindle aside. “I’m awake, honey.”

Knox walked in looking haggard and worried, locking the door behind him.

  “What’s going on?” I asked.

  “Michael’s disappeared.”

I gasped and sat up on my knees. “No.”

  “Yes.”

“Oh my god, this is bad.”

“It’s worse than bad,” he said, stripping off his clothes and heading to the bathroom.

I slid off the bed and followed. “Does Valen know where he is?”

Knox shook his head and spit toothpaste into the sink. “He and Doom are heading to Colorado tomorrow to look around.”

“What if he’s here and not Colorado?”

“Well, you’re not going anywhere. Neither is Kinsey. You’re locked down until we find him.”

  “I’m okay with that, honey.”

He sighed, wiping his mouth with a towel. “There’s something else.”

  “Jesus,” I hissed. “What?”

“He’s the reason I got sent up.”

I leaned against the doorjamb. “What?”

“Michael set me up. Back in high school. The grand theft auto charge.”

“Oh my god, Knox,” I said, feeling the sting of tears. “I’m so sorry.”

“Baby, this isn’t your fault,” he said, pulling me against him. “But it explains a lot and I now have proof that he set everything up, so I plan to nail him to the wall with it.”

“But all those years,” I whispered. “Your life was ruined.”

He lifted my chin. “Take it back.”

  “What? Why?”

“Because I’ve got you and Kinsey, and we’re about to have another baby. Nothing about my life was ruined.”

  “But—”

“No. Stop, Quin. We’re not doing this. We can’t go back.”

“I know.” I wrapped my arms around him. “But I wish we could.”

“I need you to stow that, Quin. It’ll eat you up if you don’t.”

I looked up at him. “It’s a fleeting thought, honestly. I love you. What we have is amazing, I just remember the past sometimes so I know not to fuck up our future.”

Knox grinned, leaning down to kiss me gently. “That you can do.”

  “Oh, thank you, benevolent one.”

  “Are you tired?”

“Not even a little bit.” I slid my arms around his neck. “You ready for me to crack the whip?”

He chuckled. “My plan is to crack my own.”

  I shivered. “Hard.”

“Not really willing to trigger any bad memories, honey.”

“I’m going to tell you something and you have to promise not to freak out.”

  “Sounds ominous.”

  I sighed. “You will neve
r be a trigger for anything negative, because you were where I went in the moments when he… well, you know.”

“Yeah, I fuckin’ know,” he growled.

“Well, what you don’t know is he only managed to get his dick up twice.”

“Quin, not really interested in talking about another man’s dick.”

“I get it,” I said. “I really do, but I learned early that if I didn’t seem scared of him, he couldn’t perform, so I just thought about you and I didn’t feel scared… ergo, he was impotent.”

  “Jesus,” he hissed.

“So, if you wouldn’t mind, I’d like it hard tonight. Can you do that for me?”

He smiled slowly. “Yeah, Welly, I can do that for you.”

He slid my tank top over my head and carried me to the bed. Dropping me gently on the mattress, he tugged my panties down my legs and buried his face between my thighs. I wove my hands into his hair and arched against his mouth as his tongue slid inside of me.

Before I could come, Badger stood, pushing his boxers down his legs and sliding his dick into me. He hovered over me and I wrapped my legs around his waist, drawing him deeper.

Linking my fingers with his, he dragged my hands above my head and slammed into me as he kissed me, long and deep. I arched my hips and met him thrust for thrust, bodies slapping against each other, tongues dueling as he built an orgasm in me the likes I’d never had before.

“Knox,” I whispered with a whimper.

He released one of my hands and slid his free hand between us, fingering my clit and I exploded. He wasn’t far behind me, and collapsed onto the bed, pulling me onto his chest.

“There was no whipping,” I complained.

  “We’ve got all night, Welly.”

  I chuckled. “There is that.”

After a few minutes, he whispered, “I might go with Alamo.”

I gasped and sat up. “No.”

  “Baby—”

  “Absolutely not.”

He dragged his hands down his face.

I scrambled off the bed. “I don’t even want him going, but I have no say in that. You, on the other hand, are my man, therefore, I own your ass.”

He sat up and reached for me, pulling me between his legs. “I want to make sure Michael burns in hell, Quin.”

“What if he’s here?” I challenged, running my fingers through his hair. God, he had gorgeous hair. “And you’re there?”

  “Welly.”

  “Don’t go.”

He sighed and slid his hands to my ass. “I’ll talk to Alamo about it tomorrow.”

“Did he ask you to go?”

  “No.”

“Then, don’t bring it up,” I said, cupping his face. “We need you here.”

He nodded, then kissed my belly. “Can’t wait to meet this baby.”

I smiled and straddled his lap. “Me too.”

Badger gripped my hips, lifting me onto his already hard cock and I shifted to take him deeper. “I think this is going to be my go-to position,” I said, settling my hands on his shoulders for balance.

“I like all the positions,” Badger said, and grinned. “So, you can pick every time.”

I raised up, then slid down again. “Oh, thank you, benevolent one.”

His hands dug into my ass, holding me down against his body. He slid one up my back, then settled it between my breasts, pushing me back slightly. His knees came up giving my back support and then he lay back which gave me all the room I needed.

I leaned back against his knees and raised up, then shifted, settling my hands on his chest and moving. I rode him hard and this time, he came before me, but he stayed inside of me while he worked my clit and my nipples until I exploded around him. I fell forward and he cradled me to his chest as I fought to catch my breath.

Rolling me onto my back, he kissed me gently, then pulled out of me and headed to the bathroom. I followed.

  “Hey.”

He started the shower then faced me. “Yeah?”

“Love you,” I said. “More than the world.”

He smiled, pulling me to him and kissing me. “More than the universe, Welly.”

  “Are you mad?”

“No,” he said. “Just want to find him.”

  “Me too.”

  “You gonna join me?”

“Yep. Let me just check on Kins.”

He kissed me again and I tiptoed into Kinsey’s room. She was out completely, so I joined Badger in the shower and then we crawled into bed and slept curled up in each other.

“I’m leaving,” Badger whispered, kissing my cheek.

“I thought you said you weren’t going,” I forced gritty eyes open and blinked up at him.

  “To work, honey.”

“Oh.” I sat up a little. “What time is it?”

“Nine. Kinsey’s up and playing downstairs with Willow and Alfie.”

I smiled. “Okay, honey. Have a good day.”

He kissed me gently and headed out of the room and I got up and got dressed.

I walked down to the great room and smiled. Kinsey had a bath towel tied at her neck and she was chasing Willow around the room. She caught sight of me and ran my way. “Mommy!”

  “Hi munchkin.”

  “Thupa gil,” she corrected.

“Oh, sorry, Super Girl, my bad.” I hugged her close. “Are you saving Auntie Willow or trying to nab her?”

“I’m not entirely sure myself,” Willow admitted and grinned.

“Thank you for hanging out with her,” I said. “Sleeping in these past few days has been amazing.”

“Please. Badger’s done all the heavy lifting. I got the fun part,” she said. “Besides, I love hanging with my Kinsey girl. It’s a treat.”

  “Where’s Alfie?”

  “Napping,” she said.

“Have there been any updates?” I asked.

Willow shook her head. “Jasmine’s freaking out a little. Alamo and Doom left early this morning.”

  I widened my eyes. “Really?”

She nodded. “Alamo asked Badger and Dash to take care of the shop.”

I relaxed and nodded. “I was worried they’d go with them.”

“Badger and Alamo argued about it this morning, but you probably already know that.” She shrugged. “He wanted to make sure you were covered.”

“In other words, ‘Stay safe because Quin would lose her mind if anything happened to you.’”

Willow gave me a gentle smile. “Exactly.”

  “I love my big brother.”

“Pretty sure he feels the same way.”

I hugged Kinsey tighter. “This is true.”

“Are you hungry?” Willow asked. “I made waffles.”

“I’m always hungry for your waffles.”

Kinsey leaned back and patted my face. “Waffas.”

“You want some of Auntie Willow’s waffles, munchkin?”

  “Waffas.”

I chuckled. “Okay, baby, let’s get some waffles.”

We followed Willow into the kitchen and I hooked Kinsey into the high chair the club had bought for her, then went about making coffee while Willow prepared our waffles. I could get used to mornings like this.

Alamo called that afternoon and informed us they’d located Michael and he was back to being watched. He and Doom arrived home the next afternoon, so we all let out a collective sigh of relief.

  At least, for the moment.

THE FRIDAY OF the mass exodus to Monument, Knox loaded bags into my car and made sure we had enough snacks and entertainment for Kinsey and Alfie.

“You can ride, honey. I’m fine to drive,” I said as Knox threw my bag in the trunk.

“We’re done discussing this, Welly.” He cupped my face. “Ace is going to haul a bike down with his. I’ll get to ride all weekend, but you can’t ride bitch for that long, so I’m driving you.”

Ace was part of the Dogs Portland Chapter and he’d off
ered to haul a couple of extra bikes for a few of the brothers who were driving automobiles for various reasons.

I bit my lip. “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be sorry, Quin. It’s all good.”

“But I’m ruining your street cred.”

He let out a snort. “What the fuck?”

“You’re a biker. If you don’t ride, that makes you look less badass.”

Knox’s eyes got soft and he smiled. “If taking care of my woman makes me look less badass, then I’m fine with that, honey.”

“You’re always a badass to me,” I said, wrapping my arms around his waist. “But let me be clear about something.”

  “What?”

“I don’t like the term ‘riding bitch,’ so you need to come up with another name.”

  He chuckled. “Okay, Welly.”

“And you can’t chalk it up to pregnancy hormones. I’ve never liked it.”

  “Noted.”

I craned my head to look up at him. “Although, I like it a lot less at the moment, so that might be hormones.”

He grinned, kissing my nose. “Got it.”

“Mommy!” Kinsey squeaked, rushing toward us. “Potty.”

  “Okay, munchkin, let’s go potty.”

I took her back inside and she pottied, but I had to change her pull-up since she didn’t quite make it.

Thirty minutes later, we were at the compound and the crowd was abuzz with excitement as everyone and everything was gathered to take with us.

“Are you sure you’re okay taking Alfie?” Willow asked, handing Knox a couple of their bags.

“Of course,” I said. “Just because the doctor said I’m not allowed to ride, doesn’t mean you have to miss the fun. We’ll put a movie on for the girls and it’ll be perfect.”

“Thank you. I’ve been dying for a long ride. There just never seems to be a reason.” She hugged me. “I’ll owe you.”

“Nah, it’s all good. Family’s family.”

“If you have any problems, just flag us over.”

“We will,” I promised, and we loaded Alfie into the car with Kinsey. I’d bought a portable DVD player a year ago, and it had two screens, so I put Moana on and helped the girls with headphones, and once they focused on the screen, they didn’t care about anything else.
