Her face turns an embarrassing shade of red and she looks down at her keyboard.
“Nothing. He’s just an old friend,” she says.
“Yea, sure. Have you told your boyfriend about your ‘friend’?”
She ignores me and continues typing away on her keyboard.
“Thanks for keeping Jason.” I kiss my mom on her forehead ready to get over to Noelle’s house.
“It’s no problem. I haven’t had to keep him in a long time and I missed having him as a lunch date.” She smiles at me touching my cheek.
“Well, how about Jason and I take you out to lunch on Friday? I have to take the day off anyways since we’ll all be heading up to Lake Geneva, but then I’ll drop him off with Alex before I go up there.” I stand on the lower step but I still tower over my mother.
There are some days, like today, where I can tell she misses my dad. I miss him too. Even though it’s an honor to walk Erin down the aisle I still wish my father was here to do it. My heart breaks every day since he has been gone…not only for me but for my mother. She loved him so deeply. I envied them.
“Okay, give Noelle a kiss for me,” she says and then starts laughing. “But not that kind.”
I grab Jason’s hand and he takes it. “I will and thank you for the talk last night, Ma. I love you.”
She swats her hand towards me and smiles. “It’s nothing. Now work on making her my daughter and giving me more grandchildren.”
I leave her on the porch as I shake my head. The lady has six grandkids. I think she wants a baseball team.
Making it to Noelle’s in no time I set Jason up on the couch with a cartoon while I get dinner started. I don’t know if she realizes I still have a key but either way I’m not giving it back. Just the thought of sneaking in here at night and waking her up with my tongue causes tightness in my pants.
I attempt to make her homemade pizza but am sure to clean up the mess as I go along. I’m trying to stay on her good side and breaking into her home and trashing her kitchen wouldn’t help me.
Last night started out as the worst night of my life. I thought I had lost Noelle for good. I mean in the back of my mind I had always known that I would try again and that we could make things work. But when Alex came back I had forgotten all of that. I still need to focus on Jason getting to spend as much time as possible with his mother, before she can’t anymore. At the same time, I have to live my life and Alex doesn’t want me putting it on hold for her any longer.
I am so thankful to her for going to Noelle. I couldn’t be the one to tell people what was going on. It wasn’t my story to tell. My mother being the only exception. It wouldn’t surprise me if the entire family knows now since Erin found out, but for Alex to go and explain to Noelle means the world to me.
“My God it smells so good in here.” Noelle’s singsong voice startles me as I push the pizza into the oven.
Impatient, I practically run to her and scoop her up for a kiss. She’s very accommodating, kissing me back fiercely.
“Noe!” Jason screams from the couch and she drops me like a bad habit and picks him up.
“My favorite man! How are you?” She pushes her nose across his and kisses him on the tip of it.
“You’re more excited to see him than you are me.” I feign hurt.
She laughs, placing him down, and passes me to set her stuff down. “Well, he is cuter.” She jokes.
Walking up behind her, I push her hair aside, and envelope her body. “Then he has to go.” I quietly joke, kissing the exposed skin on her neck.
“You’ll go before he goes.” She half-heartedly threatens.
“I can’t do that anyways. We’re a package deal.” I gently lay kisses on her neck before releasing her.
“That’s what makes you so appealing.”
Spending quality time with Noelle comes easily. Our witty banter keeps it interesting and she can’t seem to keep her eyes off me. She’s changed from the easier access dress to a tank top and jean shorts.
“Jason helped me set the table and just so happened to put you next to him,” I say pulling out a chair for her and kissing her shoulder.
As we all sit around the table, an immense feeling of happiness overcomes me just thinking about a future like this.
“Is it good, Jason?” Noelle asks him taking a sip of her wine.
“Pizza,” is all he says and tries to hand her the slice he is holding.
She takes a quick bite. “Thank you. Now you can have the rest.”
He smiles at her and says in a little voice, “K.”
“Did you have a good rest of the day at work?” Her eyebrow quirks up at my question.
“Well, the beginning started off fantastic but after a morning like that the day just kind of goes to shit.” She laughs.
Jason giggles with her. “Shit,” he says over and over again.
“Oh, no, baby, don’t say that word. It’s a grown up word.” She backtracks while trying not to smile.
“Noe, shit!” He screams.
Her mouth drops open. “Did he just say no shit?” Her voice low so only I can hear.
“I think he said Noe, like your name, and shit.” I correct her taking a swig of my beer.
“I’m so sorry, Trent.”
“Eh, he’s heard worse,” I say trying to make her feel better.
Kids repeat stuff. It’s going to happen. I’m surprised he hasn’t repeated more that has come out of my mouth.
Her face seems somber. “Still. I feel bad.”
Jason interrupts before I can tell her to stop worrying about it. “Pizza!” He yells shoving his slice in her face again.
Time slows as I watch the red sauced dinner fall to the ground onto Noelle’s pristine carpet. It hits the floor and bounces right back up splattering sauce all over the place.
I watch, and I wait for Noelle to lose it. To see if she starts crying or yelling.
Jason looks to the floor and jumps down to pick it up, stomping on the slice and most likely rubbing it deep into the carpet. I glance at Noe. She is motionless, speechless and I’m scared. Should I run with my child?
He picks it up and takes a bite, placing it back on his plate. I’m too nervous to move, but I apologize profusely.
“It’s no worry. We’ll get to it later.” She shrugs her shoulders, as if it isn’t a big deal, and takes another bite of her pizza.
I look around the room behind me and then back at her. “I’m sorry. Am I in the right house? The Noelle I know would be losing her shit right now.”
“Shit!” Jason yells again.
Noelle laughs and kisses Jason on the cheek. “Remember, that’s a grown up word, baby.” She smiles at him and then glances at me. “He’s two. His dad can clean it up later.”
“Too, Noe.” He chimes in standing on his chair and returning her kiss.
“He’s saying…” I start to remind her of his response when someone says I love you to him.
“I remember. Love you, little man.” She smiles but looks my way.
By the time dinner is over Jason is exhausted, but I’m not ready to leave. I’m still in shock that she hasn’t tried to clean up the pizza spot on the floor.
As if she could read my mind she tells me that Jason can fall asleep in the guest room. After setting him up I find Noelle in the living room with another beer for me and a glass of wine for herself.
“About this morning, I really want to take things slower than that, Trent,” she says handing me my drink.
I sit next to her on the couch and carefully pull her sideways into my lap. “I know. I’d say I’m sorry but I’m not. I went there just to talk to you because I couldn’t get you out of my mind. I had to make sure the night before was real. The smile on your face told me it was.”
She pushes a stray hair out of her face. “Oh, it was real alright. I’ve got the bags under my eyes from no sleep to prove it.”
“Stop, you look beautiful.” I declare kissing her mouth chastely. “I
m sorry I didn’t tell you about what was going on, Sunshine.”
She smiles at my nickname for her and keeps her eyes zeroed in on me. Lightly tracing my arm with her free hand teasingly has my dick twitching. If she feels it hardening, she isn’t saying anything.
“I understand. I just wish that we didn’t go through all those months of tension and frustration for nothing.”
The back of my eyelids appear as her caresses get softer. “Me too, but even though it’s all straightened out I still need you to know that when it comes to Alex, nothing changes. She needs me and I need to make sure I give her as much time with Jason as I can.”
“I know,” she whispers her voice closer.
Her body shifts on mine and I know she feels how hard I am. I feel the heat from her closeness, and I open my eyes finding her face within millimeters of mine.
I take a sip of my beer and use the other hand to give her leg the same attention my arm is getting. The skin along her shins and calves is silky smooth. Her eyes close involuntarily and her mouth parts. “That feels incredible.” She hums. “Your touch is always so incredible.”
With her head back and neck exposed, her chest pushes out from her tank top and I lick one glorious swell and then the other.
My name comes out a sigh. “Trent.”
I drag my tongue along her breasts while lifting my hand further up into her shorts. I come in contact with silky smooth panties. “Panties? You want me to be nice, huh?”
“Yes, but you’re making it difficult.” Her hips roll teasing my dick.
“This morning wasn’t planned, Noe. We’re taking it slow,” I tell her though I don’t sound convincing. I’d much rather rip every damn scrap of material off her body and fuck her into oblivion.
“Slow,” she repeats in the same tone.
Our touches get heated, my finger gently gliding over the soft fabric between her legs. She grinds her ass on my lap and I grasp on to her for dear life. I could lose myself in her. Hell, I have but I can’t let anything mess this up. I have to pull back.
“Noe, let’s clean up.” I pat her leg gently trying to nudge her off of me.
“Now that’s my kind of talk.” She laughs turning her body to straddle me.
She’s not making this very easy for me to behave.
“Are you for real? All of this…is it for real?” I ask rubbing circles along her sensitive sides.
She tilts her head to the side. “What?”
“You, are you for real? It’s just that I’ve wanted you for so long and now I have you in my arms. I just want to pinch myself to see if this is real.”
A sharp pain to my stomach from Noelle’s fingers grabbing skin between them has me practically jumping off the couch.
“That hurt, Noe,” I calmly say binding both hands behind her back.
“See! I’m real.”
“And perfect.”
She pulls on the hold I have on her hands. “You like holding me hostage, don’t you?”
“Not hostage, but if I don’t hold you down, you might get away.”
“Trent, I’m not going anywhere. I’m fully committed to seeing where this goes.”
Resisting the tension on her wrists, she crashes her mouth to mine relentlessly. Our tongues entwine and she is rubbing herself on me. Just as quickly as she starts she pulls away and stands up forcing me to release her.
Hands on her hips she giggles and says, “Come on, Molasses. Let’s not break that promise you made, and you do need to clean up my kitchen.”
She first goes to work on the stained carpet, not even muttering a word. I heard at Thanksgiving last year she was in tears cleaning up the spilled food. We move easily around each other in the small kitchen area and she even lets me put all the stuff back in the fridge, an honor she never bestowed upon Erin. There are some things Noelle is anal about and her fridge is one of them.
Finishing in no time, I reluctantly go to wake Jason and head home. Noelle follows me but stays in the doorway.
“What are you doing?” She asks as I start to wrap my arms around him.
I stop before picking him up. “Taking him home.”
She looks down at her crossed feet. “You can stay. I’d like you to stay.”
Stepping back from his bed, I walk to her taking her by the hips. “Are you sure?”
Her beautiful blue eyes bore into mine and I see a hint of a smile. “I haven’t been sure about a lot of things these past couple of months but I’m sure about this. Stay. I even still have a monitor in here,” she says pointing to the white transmitter on the nightstand. “You’ll be able to hear him if he wakes up.”
Without another word, I turn the monitor on and follow Noe into her room. I need to keep my hormones in check. I look around taking in the large room. She grabs something off her dresser and heads to the bathroom.
She stops in the doorway. “I’ll just be a few minutes.”
I strip down into my underwear and wait for her to return, unsure if she has a side she likes to sleep on in the bed. I notice all the pictures she has in her room and one of them catches my eye. I walk over picking it up and find the same picture that I have of her, Erin and me in Lake Geneva.
“That’s my favorite picture ever. We all look so happy.” She startles me and I drop the picture back onto the dresser.
My eyes grow wide when she walks back in and stares straight at me. Her long blonde hair tied up into a messy bun exposing her beautiful skin. Her nipples are hard, not contained by a bra anymore, and her hip bones exposed above the barrier of her shorts.
Her eyes lower and I know for a fact she can see the bulge that has started to form but she says nothing as she walks towards the bed and takes the right side. I crawl into the left and wrap my arms around her, burying my nose into her neck. My hard on pushes into her ass and she wiggles back into me.
She flicks the light off on the nightstand and shifts to get comfortable.
“Noelle, don’t play around. We’re both half naked here and I’m trying to be good for you,” I whisper.
“I’m not doing anything, Trent. I’m even wearing panties. It’s not my fault you find me so fucking sexy you can’t keep your dick tamed,” she says her body shaking with laughter.
“I don’t only find you sexy, I find you fucking irresistible and I’m dying here. Stop wiggling around on my cock!”
“I’m not wiggling around on your cock, Trent. You need to stop trying to take me from behind through my pajamas.” She jokes pushing her ass back into me again.
Fucking temptress.
“How the fuck am I supposed to make this go down?” I ask out loud.
“Does it bother you that your sister fucked Walker in here?” She says into the dark room.
Well, that will work.
I slam the trunk shut on the rental car that we’re using for the weekend. I refuse to take my car up to Lake Geneva and have it get dinged up by some asshole not paying attention. Trent grabs me from behind kissing my neck and releases me. He, Erin, Walker and I are all riding up together. Jason and Savannah are staying with Trent and Erin’s mom so that we could do a bachelor and bachelorette party weekend.
We’ll all hang out tomorrow morning, then tomorrow night the boys and girls separate. The ten girls will share three rooms and the eleven guys have another five rooms.
“Let’s go, Sunshine,” Trent says hitting his hand on the top of the car just before he joins Erin and Walker inside.
I double check that my door is locked and jump in the car and reverse out of the driveway settling in for just over an hour drive. Trent lovingly places his hand on mine that is resting on the console and remains there, caressing it, until we arrive at the hotel. I can’t help but notice how natural things are with him.
We get to Harbor Shores on Lake Geneva just past 7:00 P.M. and get our rooms that are all located on the fifth floor. Conveniently Erin and mine are across the hall from Trent and Walker’s. Agreeing to meet in an hour, to head down to the bar, we
enter into our rooms and get ready before the rest of the partygoers get here.
After I finish blow drying my hair I find Erin sitting on the bed waiting patiently.
“So you and my brother huh?” She asks with a grin spread across her face. She looks radiant. Her brownish auburn hair has grown past her shoulders and it’s wavy. Her makeup looks delicate but sexy and the red strapless knee length dress flows around her.
I walk to the dresser and grab the chandelier earrings I’m planning to wear. “Yea. I mean, we’re not rushing anything. Just kinda trying to figure things out, you know?”
“I get it. I’m over the moon excited for you two.”
I turn around placing the earrings in my ears. “I’m excited too. We’re not giving it a label but just seeing where things can go.”
She stands up, walks over to me and gives me a hug. “I know I keep saying this but I just want you to be happy. I want both of you to be happy.” She pulls back a bit to look at me. “You can do that for each other.”
“I think so. That’s why I’m trying not to overthink anything. Just go with the flow.”
Her arms drop to her sides and her mouth drops open. “Go with the flow? What happened to my anal retentive best friend? The one who needed an itinerary for Thanksgiving dinner?”
Sighing, I take a seat on the bed she just vacated. “I don’t know! It’s crazy. I don’t feel like myself anymore. I feel like a better version. Is that stupid?”
Leaning back onto the dresser she shakes her head no. “It’s not stupid. I know how you feel. Before Walker I was lost and when he and I found each other again, I became the woman I always wanted to be. I thought I had everything until him, but now I feel cherished, wanted, and sexy. I never felt sexy before. He made me a better version of myself. I think when we find the one we are meant to be with they bring out the best in us.”
“Yea, I can see that.” I laugh. “You know Jason spilled pizza on the carpet and I didn’t even flinch?”
She audibly gasps. “I don’t even know you anymore!”
We walk down to the hotel bar and find the guys have saved us a table. Walker points our way and Trent turns around to find us walking towards him. The smile that takes over his face is raw, primal, and filled with lust. He quickly stands and meets me halfway placing both hands on my hips. Erin continues walking towards her fiancé.
