“Oh my God, and Candice? Is she okay?” Faith asked. Her men didn’t seem pleased that she was still concerned when her friend caused a lot of this danger.
“She’s fine. A little banged up, and completely cooperating with authorities,” Louis said.
“Good. Now can we go home? To your place?” she asked and hugged Worin’s neck.
He chuckled. “Your ass is going back inside to get checked over,” he told her and began carrying her toward the back exit door. She could see all the chaos around them, the smoking damaged van and police cruiser that hit it and the bullet to the windshield.
She whispered next to Worin’s ear, knowing he was the one who stopped Turk from leaving. “You know, I think you and the team are the most qualified to check my ass over, don’t you think?” she asked.
He squeezed her tighter, and whispered into her ear. “Baby, you know it.” He kissed her neck and she hugged him, absorbed his cologne as her body began to shake and tremble, and the reality of what just happened started to sink in.
Epilogue
“I don’t know about this, Faith. Your concept is a bit complex,” Louis told her as she sat in the chair and showed them her designs for the new set of houses to go up on the property in Warriorville.
“I’m telling you, it is an awesome idea. A one bedroom home, a kitchen, living room, and table to eat at. A front porch, a small patio out back and an American flag on every pole by the front door. New beginnings. A way for each soldier to transition into civilian life again. Then, depending on teams of soldiers we can build others. They can custom order them if need be, and we can start forming our own communities right outside of town. We’ll have these individual ones for the retreat attendants and then those other ideas for the new development.”
“Incredible. If teams of soldiers start buying these up, we won’t be able to get it all done,” Worin said to her.
“Yes you will, because those men who want those homes can also help to build them. There are all types of soldiers out there needing direction, opportunity to feel like they have a home, a safe place and one where others get it. That’s Warriors Way, and this is just the beginning,” she said with confidence.
“Have I told you lately that I love you?” Hunt asked and picked her up from the chair and hugged her to him.
“Hmm, I don’t think so, soldier,” she said as she caressed his beard, held his jaw and kissed his lips. The others chuckled.
“Well, we do, baby, and moving here is our new beginning with you,” Louis said.
She looked around at the land, then at her four men. “I still feel overwhelmed about this project,” Voight said and gave her a serious expression.
“Have a little faith, will ya?” she asked, and then felt Hunt squeeze her ass cheek.
“We just did about an hour ago,” he teased and they chuckled.
Louis looked at his watch. “I say we need a little Faith right now.”
“Amen, team, let’s do it,” Worin said and they all followed as Hunt carried her back toward their new house and right upstairs to the bedroom. At this rate, they would be lucky if they got any of the building done. Making love was a top priority and she didn’t mind one bit at all.
