Chapter 1
Why isn't he wearing clothes?
Bianca smoothed her dress over her thighs one last time and took a deep breath. She could do this. She could do this.
She stared up at the enormous building in front of her and wondered just how large of an income someone needed to live there.
Probably more than she would make in her entire life.
The place was huge, and the family who lived there—the ones she’d be working for—were even bigger.
Angela and Zev Anagnos.
Born to Greek parents living in England both Angela and Zev had migrated to the United States only a few years earlier.
Angela’s father owned an enormous technology business back in the UK, and had enlisted her and Zev to expand operations in North America. It was a job that required the couple to relocate to New York City.
Bianca hadn’t been able to find out the actual specifics about what the Anagnos’ actually did on a day-to-day basis. Well, aside from the private jets, to skiing trips, seven-star island getaways, and string-quartet garden brunches with politicians, celebrities, and other men and women of influence.
Apparently, Zev and Angela had a couple of kids.
Unlike the Anagnos’, Bianca, had spent most of her life in a small town, a life so far removed from theirs that she was struggling to wrap her head around it. Maybe that’s why they’d hired her. Maybe they wanted someone with that down-to-earth sensibility.
Or maybe it was just because she was new and cheap.
Not letting herself overthink for a moment longer, she lifted her finger to the buzzer and pressed.
There was an explosion of voices inside, and Bianca ran through what she had planned to say once more. She had practiced the introduction long and hard and was confident that she was going to make a positive first impression.
The door flew open, and behind it was a woman a few years older than Bianca with a mess of unbrushed hair that somehow still looked expensive.
She had a phone pinned to her ear, and when Bianca extended her hand to greet her, she instead waved for Bianca to come in.
“Yeah? Yes, I know that we said we’d be able to make it for the afternoon performance, but even if we just make it for the evening, that’s something, isn’t it?”
The woman was Angela, Bianca recognized her from the picture at the agency. But in the picture, she gave off an air of urban cool. She’d worn a sleek pantsuit and a warm smile.
As she turned, vanishing into the house, she pointed behind her for Bianca to follow. It seemed as though she’d both just rolled out of bed and needed ten hours of sleep to get back on her feet.
Bianca scurried along after her, taking in the house as she went.
The walls were tastefully decorated with modern paintings and sculptures. The whole place was decked out in a discreet but stylish tan color palette.
Off the corridor, there was a huge living room, then a kitchen where she glimpsed a couple of kids. They must be her charges—a boy of about seven and a girl of about five. She smiled with relief when she saw them. Kids, she could handle. Everything else, on the other hand...
“Well, tell them that it’s the evening or nothing,” Angela said finishing up her conversation. She ended the call over the protestations of whoever was on the other end of the line.
She was wearing a silk blouse with a pair of sweatpants. Taking a seat in front of a mirror in her enormous dressing room, she reached for some make-up.
“You’re the new help, right?” She asked, shooting a look at Bianca.
She stood nervously in the doorway, not wanting to invade Angela’s space. She nodded her response twiddling her fingers.
“Come in, come in,” Angela waved then grabbed a tube of mascara. She quickly went to work stroking it over her eyelashes a couple of times. “What’s your name?”
“Bianca,” She replied. “And you must be Angela.”
“Yes, I suppose I must be,” She agreed, sighing as she got to her feet. Her eyes began darting around the large room. She was searching for something. “Remind me exactly what we hired you for again?”
“Uh, the ad said you needed help with the kids,” Bianca blurted out.
She averted her eyes as Angela pulled off her sweats and grabbed for a pair of sleek cigarette trousers. Her cheeks blossomed with warmth. She wasn’t used to this kind of openness.
Bianca’s family had always been old-fashioned, conservative. She hadn’t ever even seen her own mother without a pair of stockings on.
“But I’ll take on the tasks around the house as well,” Bianca went on, watching as Angela returned to her dressing table and began to pull a brush through her thick, wild hair. “I mean, if you need me to.”
Angela was well put-together, despite the chaos, with manicured hands and well-shaped eyebrows. When you had the money, Bianca supposed, you could look good no matter what state you were in.
“Huh?” Angela glanced up at Bianca, her brow narrowed. “What do you mean?”
“Ya know, like cooking and cleaning and everything,” Bianca explained, still twiddling her fingers. “Taking care of the kids’ food, making sure they get to their appointments, stuff like that.”
“No, no, we have people for that,” Angela waved her hand, and Bianca’s heart dropped.
Had they hired her by mistake? Would she have to leave r
ight now?
“We need you to entertain the kids,” Angela replied. Her voice was terse, but Bianca could tell that she was mostly annoyed at the stress of the situation at hand rather than at her.
“Entertain them?” Bianca’s forehead creased with confusion.
She looked at herself in the mirror, and quickly straightened the stiff maroon dress she’d purchased for the occasion.
She’d picked it up at a thrift store and thought it had looked good, but seeing it in comparison to Angela’s effortlessly chic outfit, she felt overdressed.
“Just occupy them,” Angela rolled her eyes, frustrated. “Play games with them, set up activities, organize playdates for them, do arts and crafts, that kind of thing.”
“Right,” Bianca said. It wasn’t quite what she had been imagining, but if it meant that she could start pulling in a paycheck, she’d go along with anything they wanted.
Angela seemed to notice her confusion and sighed then turned around on the small stool she was sitting on in front of her dressing table. “Look, Zev and I had the kids young,” she told Bianca. “Maybe a little too young. We both thought we were done with all that social scene shit, but it turns out we weren’t.”
“Oh, okay,” Bianca nodded. She couldn’t imagine what kind of lives the two of them must lead—how exciting it must be to receive invitations to the biggest events all over the city. Bianca had done a little stalking of them, and they turned up all over the celebrity feeds.
She doubted she would have been able to walk away from all of that either.
“So, now we need someone to make sure they’re getting all the proper parenting stuff while we’re away,” she explained, turning back to the mirror. Angela began applying a deep red lipstick. She pulled a face at herself in the mirror, but it quickly vanished. Setting down the deep red, she swapped it for a tan; it matched the walls almost perfectly.
Bianca tried not to giggle at the coincidence.
“We want someone who’s going to be able to step in. Basically, another parent.” she finished up. “That’s what we need you for. We already have maids and cooks and all of that. We don’t need someone else poking around this place with a duster. No, we need someone to take care of the kids properly, not just practically. You think you can handle that?”
“Of course,” Bianca responded a bit too eagerly.
The truth was, it was a weight off her back. She could cook and clean if she had to, but the part she’d always enjoyed most about childcare was being surrounded by her little cousins and babysitting for them, actually getting to spend time with little children.
Angela let out a long sigh, as though a large weight had been lifted off her shoulders. She closed her eyes for a moment, then opened them again and offered Bianca a small smile. “Good,” she nodded.
Bianca noted the vaguest hint of an accent. Not quite American, not exactly English, and not really Greek, but it suited Angela. Her life was so exotic. It felt to Bianca like she had come from another planet.
Bianca reached out to shake her hand once more to confirm their deal, but before she could, the door that led off from the room opened. Angela glanced around and smiled, fiddling with the buttons on her blouse.
Zev entered the room through the open door.
Bianca recognized his face at once from photographs.
Her eyes widened with shock as her eyes studied him further. Her face flushed and her entire body flooded with a feeling she couldn’t describe.
He was completely bare-ass naked.
Chapter 2
Touch it if you like
Bianca lowered her eyes to the ground at once and felt herself blushing bright red.
She couldn’t believe Zev was just standing there in front of her, utterly and completely naked, as though it was the most natural and obvious thing in the world. She supposed it very well may have been in his house.
If he wanted to walk around without any clothes on, there was nothing she could do to stop him, but still; It was a lot to take in.
“I—uh—” Bianca struggled, wanting to excuse herself and get out before Angela caught her staring at her bare-assed husband.
He stood a little over six feet tall with dark chocolate hair to match his dark chocolate eyes that both emphasized his robust features: a strong jaw, sharp nose, a smile that curled upward at a slant.
Zev planted a kiss on the side of his wife’s head.
“So, as I was saying,” Angela turned back to the mirror as though nothing had changed. “I’ll give you the room right next to the kids’ room so you can deal with them first thing in the morning or during the night if they need it. You think you can handle that?”
“Oh, so you must be the new hire,” Zev remarked.
Bianca nodded, managing to look him in the eye and not anywhere else.
She felt as though she might overheat, steam pouring out of her ears at any moment and give away the fact that she was attracted to this man.
He was still smiling at her while he made his way around the room, gathering clothes in his arms. Bianca couldn’t help but notice the size of his shaft. Even soft it was impressive. Just like everything else in this house.
“Yeah,” Bianca managed. “I... uh, Angela was just letting me in on what needed to be done around the house.”
“I’m sure I can think of plenty,” he replied with a wink making her heart skip a beat.
She knew precisely what was going through his mind and it made her heart flutter with—with nothing. He was the husband of the woman who had just hired her. She didn’t feel anything for him, no matter how good he looked in the buff.
He ran his hands through his messy hair.
Her skin began to bead with perspiration.
Then mercifully, he pulled on a pair of underwear.
Bianca relaxed a little.
“You’ll need to start tonight,” Angela went on, apparently unaware of the fact that her husband had just shown the new staff his—his everything. Or maybe she just didn’t care; they were migrants, after all. Perhaps things back in Greece or wherever were different.
Bianca had always been taught that nudity was private something to be preserved until your wedding night. Now that she’d just seen her new boss completely and utterly nude, she had no idea what to do with the photo memory of it.
It was burned into her brain.
“Oh?” Bianca squeaked.
Zev grinned. He seemed to be enjoying her discomfort or at least finding it amusing. That irritated her a little, but she had to admit, his charisma mostly made up for that.
“We’re going away on holiday,” Zev told her. “Vacation, I think you Americans call it. Sun, sea, sand, sex . . .”
Bianca’s mind was suddenly filled with the images of the two of them intertwined on a beach—not Angela and Zev, but Bianca and Zev. She instantly felt a twist of longing deep down in her stomach. Maybe it was just the promise of a vacation that had her excited. Yes, that’s what she would tell herself.
“Oh,” she nodded. “Sounds lovely.”
“It will be,” Zev stretched, the muscles in his chest and arms flexed drawing her attention once more. She didn’t want to stare. She really didn’t. Especially right in front of his wife, but it was so damn hard when he was practically laying himself out on display for her.
Would this be a regular occurrence? She wasn’t sure she could handle it.
She fought the urge to reach out and touch him. His wife was right there, what on Earth would someone like Zev see in somebody like Bianca when he was married to one of the most gorgeous women in the city?
“You’ll need to move in right away,” Angela finished, checking her lipstick one last time. She looked amazing, better in twenty minutes than Bianca could have looked in two hours. Bianca couldn’t help the sting of envy of Angela’s beauty.
Or maybe it was the fact that this gorgeous woman could have this exceptionally gorgeous man whenever she wanted.
“I can help you move your s
tuff in if you like,” Zev flashed her another smile, the kind that made her brain feel like it was lighting up. “It would be good to get to know the help.”
“Oh, uh… that’s okay,” Bianca mumbled. “I can manage fine. I’ll just go collect my bags, and then I can get going...”
“Thank you,” Angela got to her feet and headed for the door.
And just like that Zev and Bianca were all alone together. He was still mostly without clothes on, and some part of her wanted him to get dressed, so she didn’t have to force her gaze away from him anymore.
Another, more prominent part of her wanted him to remain stripped down. She’d never seen a man in such a state before, and she was enjoying the sight of it, though she knew she shouldn’t have been.
“So, why’d you apply here?” Zev asked bluntly. He began to pull on pants, taking his time, clearly in no rush.
“Uh, I needed the job,” Bianca replied swiftly, keeping her eyes trained on her reflection in the mirror. She was bright red and hoped to all things good and pure that Zev hadn’t noticed how uncomfortable she was.
When he glanced at her, his dark eyes shining with playfulness, she knew he was enjoying this. “So, it wasn’t because you had a crush on us?” He teased.
Bianca shook her head hurriedly. “No. Nothing like that,” she chewed her bottom lip and wondered when she could finally excuse herself.
Zev had an energy about him, chilled and easy. It made her want to stay and to go at the same time.
She knew every minute she spent in his company was another minute she risked developing a stupid, girlish crush on him. The last thing in the whole world she needed was for a crush to take hold. He was her new boss, for goodness sake. That was how she needed to treat him.
“Shame,” he shrugged as he pulled on a shirt.
Bianca noted that somehow, his arms looked better clothed. His sleek muscles pressed up against the cloth, filling it comfortably. Her gaze lingered on it for a long second.
