  The other two nodded.

“Sorry, ladies, but thanks for the offer.”

Tina slipped a business card into his hand and winked. “Call me.”

The women mounted their bikes and pedaled away.

Mark rubbed his neck. That was awkward, but at least they were gone, and he dodged their dinner invitation. Nothing against assertive women, but that trio left him feeling like a piece of meat. He much preferred the blonde who ran him off the road—not that it mattered.

  DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. When Derrick first met Hope, he appeared to judge her based on her appearance. Piper warned him against judging Hope based on her appearance. Have you ever met someone who first struck you one way, but after getting to know them, your opinion changed? Did you struggle with judging and what can you do to keep that from happening again?

  2. Hope's mother hurt her a lot. Do you think Hope handled the situation well? If not, how do you think she should have dealt with her mom? Have you ever had anyone you loved betray your trust? How can you get past an experience like that and come out whole?

  3. It's easy to say we need to forgive and forget when someone does us wrong. I think most people would agree that as Christians we need to forgive, but what about forgetting? What are your thoughts?

  4. Derrick took to heart Hope's advice on how to deal with his daughter's boyfriend situation, even though he'd been hurt by busybody women after his wife died. Do you think you would have been able to take someone else’s advice, or would you have tried to do it on your own?

  5. Hope and Derrick at first look seemed to be an unlikely couple. What do you think it was about them that drew them to one another? Have you ever been attracted to someone who didn’t seem to be a good fit? Did it work out or not, and if not, why not?
