her on this honeymoon. Darrin hadn’t been able to talk his family out of letting it go, and honestly hadn’t tried very hard, which made her wonder what he’d said to Jake to change his mind.
She knew that she should just let it go and be happy that her brother had let it go, but…
She really needed to know.
“What exactly did you tell my brother?” she asked, stepping back just far enough so that she could look up into his handsome face as he explained exactly how he’d managed to pull this one off.
Darrin chuckled as he leaned down and kissed the tip of her nose. “Nothing much.”
“Nothing much?” she repeated back slowly, knowing that he was full of sh-
“I just reminded him that we’d already had our very own fucked up honeymoon so there was absolutely nothing to worry about.”
Chapter 6
“We did?” she asked in a tone that sounded suspiciously as though she was questioning his sanity, which was probably appropriate considering that she was sending him a matching look that said the very same thing.
It definitely wasn’t a look that he believed a loving, devoted wife that worshipped the very ground that her husband walked on should be sending him, he mused, deciding to forgive her, because that was just the kind of husband that he was.
God, he really was too good to her, he thought with a pained sigh as he rewarded her disloyalty with another one of those teasing kisses to the tip of her nose simply because he knew it annoyed the shit out of her before he explained what she should have already figured out.
“We did.”
“Was I there or did this ‘honeymoon’,” she said, pausing to make air quotes around the word honeymoon before she continued, earning his displeasure and making him reconsider grabbing the last set of handcuffs that he had and cuffing her beautiful ass to the toilet for treachery, “or did it all happen in your head?”
“You were there,” he said evenly as she glared at her, seriously considering spanking her even knowing that it would result in the violent removal of his balls.
“Really?” she asked slowly, giving him a bored look that told him everything that he needed to know.
She was about to ditch his ass for room service and a hot bath.
Glaring at the traitorous little thing that he wanted to fuck so badly, he bit out, “Florida.”
When her lips pulled up into an adorable frown, he considered risking his balls, but when her frown turned confused he decided to give her another opportunity to make this up to him for doubting him.
“You mean your family trip?” she asked with a look that said it all.
She thought he was out of his fucking mind, but that was okay with him since that was the way most Bradford wives looked at their husbands most days anyway. Since it was good news, he decided to forgive her as he pulled her into his arms and kissed her forehead.
“Yes, our trip to Florida,” he agreed, knowing that she would quickly comprehend his meaning so that they could move on and get back to the perfect honeymoon that he’d planned for her.
Correction, the perfect makeup honeymoon that he’d planned for her since the first one had been seriously fucked up, which of course was to be expected since he was a Bradford and taking a honeymoon before the year mark always ended in disaster. Since they’d already taken a honeymoon that had ended horribly for them and everyone involved, they were untouchable on this trip.
They didn’t have to worry about any of the normal Bradford cursed honeymoon on this trip. There would be no muggings, food poisoning, trips to the hospital, identity theft, missing limbs, worries about getting hit by a cab, or attacked by a group of rabid squirrels, because they’d already been through that hell.
No, this trip was going to be fucking perfect.
Not even the annoying assholes currently locked up in the suite downstairs could ruin this. They’d already paid their dues and now, they were going to enjoy this trip.
“How exactly did that count as our honeymoon?” she asked when it should have been obvious.
“Because that was the trip that we took after we got married,” he explained to her anyway, even though, really she should have been able to figure this out on her own.
“You mean after you blackmailed me into saying ‘I do,’?” she asked as though there was really a difference.
“Yes,” he said with a tired sigh, wondering why it was taking her so long to show her appreciation.
“I see,” she murmured thoughtfully as she pulled away from him and wrapped her arms around herself.
“Do you?” he asked with a grin, deciding that it was time to focus back on their perfect honeymoon.
“Mmmhmm,” she murmured, throwing a nervous glance around the room as she headed for the door, pausing only long enough to grab her bag as she grabbed the door, threw it open and rushed out of the room.
“Where the hell are you going?” he demanded as he hurried after her.
“To get home before it’s too late,” she said, shooting another nervous glance over her shoulder as she rushed towards the elevator doors.
Sighing heavily and shaking his head in disgust, mostly at himself, he grabbed her and threw her over his shoulder, wondering why women had to be so damn difficult.
*-*-*-*
“Darrin? Darrin! Put me down!” she said, wondering why men had to be so goddamn stubborn when it was obvious that they were in over their heads.
“No,” he simply said as he casually strolled down the long immaculately kept hallway and kept going until they reached their room.
Then with a quick swipe of his keycard, he had her back inside her room. She’d rather have this conversation on the way home, but if he wanted to deal with it now, then that was more than fine with her. They’d have it out now, grab their bags and head back home where it was safe where she would probably kick herself a million times for taking this chance when she’d known better.
Instead of listening to that nagging voice that told her that this was a bad idea, she’d ignored everything she knew about the Bradfords, their fucked up beliefs and decided to risk everything so that she could have a honeymoon with the man that she loved. Well, if she’d married a normal man then she probably could have gone on a honeymoon without worry, but she’d married a Bradford.
She’d known what she was getting into the moment that he’d blackmailed her into marrying him and had no one else to blame for this mess but herself. Well, that wasn’t entirely true. She could blame Darrin, but she just didn’t have the heart to do it, not only because he’d tried so hard to give her the perfect honeymoon, but because he’d made every single impossible dream that she’d had come true.
She loved him so much and even loved the fact that he was willing to risk being maimed in order to take her on a dream honeymoon, but enough was enough. It was time to go home, she thought with a depressed sigh as Darrin put her down, turned her around and-
“Oh, God!” she gasped, or maybe even shouted those words, as she suddenly found herself bent over the arm of a couch, her pants shoved down, her panties ripped off and Darrin’s cock, hard and thick buried deep inside her.
A loud masculine groan filled the air, which did not help her focus, but she did her best. At least, she tried to, but he felt so good sliding in and out of her that she found it difficult to care that they weren’t supposed to be doing this and that they should really be doing everything within their power to get out of this hotel before it fell down around them, sent them to a hospital and most likely ended with one of them committed to an insane asylum for life.
Nothing bad had happened yet, and no, she really didn’t count Jason and Trevor crashing their honeymoon as a catastrophe since the pain in the asses were always showing up, but that’s only because they’d been lucky up to this point. She should have never agreed to come on this trip. She should have-
“If the curse was in effect for us,” he whispered in her ear as he leaned over her, “then I wouldn’t be able t
o fuck you right now,” he pointed out in a possessive growl as her top was suddenly ripped open and she found her breast in the tender grasp of a large, warm and more than capable, hand.
“W-what?” she managed to say, trying to make sense out of what he was saying as she savored the feel of his large cock sliding inside her harder with each stroke.
“You know how this goes, sweetheart,” he whispered as he kissed the sensitive spot right beneath her ear as he twisted his hips and-
“Oh, God, please don’t stop,” she begged, licking her lips hungrily as she tried to push back against him, but his hold on her had her staying still as he continued to take her, determined to explain to her in his own way why they were safe from the curse.
Something that he said triggered a memory of a conversation that she’d heard several times over the years, but to be honest she wasn’t really focused on anything else but what Darrin was doing to her and God, did he know exactly what she liked.
He knew exactly what she liked, how she liked it, and what needed to be done in order to leave her begging for more, screaming his name and damn near losing her mind as he took possession of her body and made her tremble with pleasure.
“The curse can’t touch us twice, sweetheart,” Darrin groaned with a chuckle as he pressed a kiss against the side of her neck. “We’ve already gone through hell and back, baby, and survived. We’ve earned this trip, earned this,” he said, punctuating his words with a hard, deep thrust.
She tried to respond, tried to tell him that he was wrong, that they needed to leave, but she couldn’t do much more than moan his name, something that she seemed unable to stop doing and judging by the way that he moaned right along with her and quickened his pace, he didn’t want her to stop anytime soon.
“We’ve more than earned this, sweetheart,” he said with a loud grunt as he sent them both over the edge.
As she lay there, panting and trying not to fall asleep, she realized something very important.
He was right.
They’d already been to hell and back.
There was nothing else to fear, nothing else to hold them back, and just as soon as she was able to open her eyes again, she was planning on fully enjoying this honeymoon from hell with the man she loved.
For those of you who don’t know about the Chronicles on my website, www.Rlmathewson.com and have always wondered how Darrin and Marybeth finally came together…
What Really Happened…
Part I
An R.L. Mathewson Chronicle
“This is fucking bullshit,” Jason said with a murderous glare towards the large man standing in the doorway of the restaurant they were trying to get into, who just happened to be glaring right back at Jason with his large muscular arms crossed over his chest, silently daring Jason to try and get past him.
Marybeth sighed heavily as she leaned back against her husband, pleased when Darrin wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer, rewarding her with a kiss on the top of her head as he no doubt joined in the glaring game. “He’s never going to let us inside,” she pointed out for probably the third time that day since her husband and his cousins had announced that they were going to try to get into the Fire & Brimstone Pub tonight.
“Oh, I’ll get in there, guaranteed,” Trevor said tightly, shooting Lucifer a glare that only made the larger Bradford’s lips twitch with amusement as he gestured lazily for them to leave.
“Can’t we just go to Burger King?” Zoe asked with a slight wince and a definite pout as she placed her hand over the large swell of her stomach and leaned back against Trevor, who absently placed his hand over hers where Marybeth and Darrin’s babies were growing for them, as his eyes narrowed dangerously on Lucifer, a look of challenge that most Bradford boys mastered within hours of being born.
Lucifer simply ignored the challenge, shot them a wink and turned his back on them, returning to the busy restaurant that he owned and operated, leaving them there to fume as they were once again denied entrance into the best restaurant in town.
It was also the same one that every Bradford was automatically banned from since the day that Lucifer had opened the restaurant’s doors. Most of the family, while they weren’t happy about it, understood. The Fire & Brimstone was Lucifer’s dream and he’d worked his ass off to make it happen. None of them would ever do anything to jeopardize his dream, but that didn’t mean that they had to be happy about being denied entrance into what was supposedly the best restaurant in town.
They were Bradfords after all.
“Are you boys ready to call it a night yet?” Marybeth asked with a heavy sigh, because yeah, they’d done this before, spending hours that she would never get back sitting in this parking lot, waiting for an opportunity to get past Lucifer’s guard dogs and get their hands on what she’d heard several Bradfords refer to as, “The forbidden fruit,” several times over the years.
Personally, Marybeth just wanted to grab a burger, fries and a shake and go home so that they could finish putting the nursery together. Since that’s what she already knew they’d end up doing it in the end, she’d rather just call it a night and get it over with.
Unfortunately for her, her husband and his cousins were determined bastards, who had a hard time accepting a ban that in their minds, they hadn’t earned. They were determined to get in and every few weeks or so they worked themselves up, calling this ban an injustice, got together, drove over here, sat in the parking lot and glared at the restaurant until someone, usually her or one of the other Bradford wives, got pissed, stole their husband’s car keys, drove off and had a girl’s night out somewhere.
Since she’d already reached her limit with the whole glaring contest, she pulled away from Darrin, grabbed his keys, walked away from him and jumped in his truck. By the time that she shut her door and started the truck, the passenger door slammed shut and Haley and Zoe were buckling up, apparently having had more than enough for one night as well.
“Where to?” Marybeth asked as she put the truck in reverse.
“Anywhere that we can get a meatball pizza and a root beer float,” Zoe said with that wistful sigh that she usually got when she was pregnant and craving a snack and yes, sadly a large meatball pizza and a root beer float was considered a light snack for a woman carrying Bradfords, especially triplets.
“Pizza sounds good to me,” Haley said with a pleased smile that she couldn’t quite hold back as she added, “And maybe you’ll finally tell us the story behind how Darrin finally managed to snag you?”
Part II
“Okay, asshole, spill,” Jason snapped as soon the SUV pulled away, getting in his face with the other large bastard stepping up behind him.
Sighing heavily, not only because he had no fucking clue what they were talking about and not really caring, Darrin leaned back against the side of Trevor’s truck and asked, “What now?”
Trevor shouldered Jason out of the way and got in his face, trying to intimidate him, which was really just fucking sad. “Spill.”
Cocking a brow, he reached out and shoved the large bastard back and out of his space. “If you want to know something, just ask,” he said, really not in the mood for this today, not when he should be inside the Fire & Brimstone finding out what his brother had been hiding all these years.
Selfish bastard, he thought with a glare towards the restaurant that he was unjustly banned from. After all the shit he’d gone through over the years for Lucifer and this was how he repaid him? He could understand banning the rest of the assholes in their family, but he was Lucifer’s favorite brother and as such should be inside that restaurant getting fucking pampered right now.
“You better start talking before your wife does, because if I lose this bet I’m going to make your life a living hell,” Jason threatened, shouldering Trevor back out of the way so he could get in Darrin’s face.
“You already do,” Darrin reminded him as he shoved him back as well.
“It will be worse,” J
ason promised with a glare.
“Oh, so much worse,” Trevor added with the murderous glare that had him rolling his eyes and wondering what he’d done to deserve to be related to these annoying bastards.
“Not possible,” he said, wondering if Marybeth was going to grab him something to eat while she was out or if he was on his own.
“What really happened that night?” Jason asked just as Darrin pulled out his phone to text his wife.
“What night?” he asked absently, wondering if he should just
