An image of Rush leaning in, kissing my lips, enter my head, and I shake it away.
I know what they are, but I guess it’s times like this that I forgot how real all this is.
I take my seat once again; the guys come over now and then to make sure I’m okay. I put on a fake smile, telling them I’m fine, just watching everyone, making sure everyone is safe.
Looking at my phone, I go through my own photos, looking at ones of me when I was young, the ones of my parents, smiling at the drunk pictures of me and Emz. I even look at my ex-boyfriends, and I shake my head at a few of them.
What was I thinking? I laugh at myself.
I look at one guy I thought was drop dead gorgeous at the time, but compared to the band, he isn’t even in the same league. I smile, knowing that I kind of kissed Rush. A model type guy kissed me.
Hell, they’d all even admitted they were attracted to me. Attracted to a girl who is ordinary looking. I have curves in the right places, but I’m nothing to write home about.
“Who’s that?” Rush makes me jump, sitting next to me.
“You need to wear a bell… god.” I give him a stern look.
“Answer me,” he says, taking my phone, eyeing the guy.
“He’s an ex-boyfriend when I was back in college.” He starts going through my pictures.
“Did you love him?” He looks at me.
“No, I didn’t. I really liked him, but he thought he was God’s gift to women.” I roll my eyes.
“He cheated on you.” It wasn’t a question.
“Yeah, he did.”
“He’s a dick. I bet he’s regretting it now.” He looks back at my phone, smiling at pictures of me and Emz. “You look so happy in your photos.”
“Because when I take them, I am.” I lean farther into him so I can see what photos he’s looking at. He keeps swiping, smiling and chuckling; when he sees me with a guy, he quickly swipes.
“These your parents?” I nod. “They look so happy. You can see how much he loves her.” He looks intently at the picture.
“How can you tell?”
“The way he is smiling at her, how he is looking at her.”
“They love each other very much. He is always getting her flowers for no reason, but just because he loves seeing her smile. I remember when I was younger, on Valentine’s Day he covered every room in the house in rose petals, candles lit everywhere. He dressed me up in this beautiful light blue dress, and I was holding onto this beautiful jewelry box that was for her. Inside was this silver bracelet that had a heart and a key. He told her that she would always have the key to his heart. I knew when I was older, I wanted love just like that. I want someone to love me as much as my dad loves my mom.” I look from my phone to him, and he is watching me.
Something has shifted between us, this pull to be closer to him. I lick my lips, and his eyes move to my mouth. My head is screaming to kiss him, I lean forward a little more, his head closer to mine. I close my eyes, waiting for his kiss, but then I hear a cough. I quickly pull away, looking up to see the back-up singers standing there.
They are wearing black tight dresses, showing off their perfect figures and clear white skin. “Rush, you want to have some fun?” One of them asks him. I see the other two standing behind her, giving him suggestive looks. It doesn’t take a genius to know what they are want.
They want a foursome.
Why do thoughts of me and the band enter my head? But it wouldn’t be a foursome, it would be a more-some. Flashes of my dream enter my head again; I feel my cheeks start to blush.
“I’m going to get some fruit.” I stand up.
“You go do that,” the leader says. Now that I’m standing, I feel even more insecure being next to her. Seeing her perfect blonde hair and blue eyes.
I walk over to the table and grab some grapes. I hear Rush telling them off. “Why do groupies have to look like that?” I say to myself. “Bet she knows how to please them,” I mumble.
Why do I feel a little jealous?
“You have something to say to me?” I hear behind me, and I almost choke on a grape I just put in my mouth.
What a way to die: choking on a grape.
I turn around, and she is looking at me with a pissed off expression.
“Nope, why?” I shrug.
“You calling me a slut?” I think back with what I said, I know I didn’t mean it like that. “Like you can talk. I have noticed how you look at them, as if you could hold their interest.” She looks me up and down. “You are just a food ticket to them. A walking happy meal.” She smiles sweetly at me, in complete contradiction to the words coming out of her mouth.
“It came out completely wrong. I wasn’t calling you a slut.” I defend myself, but I feel a little pissed off with what she said about me and the band. “They don’t see me as a meal ticket, or a happy meal, as you call it; they see me as a friend,” I say matter of factly.
She starts laughing. “A friend? Is that what you think?”
“Back off Nicole.” Slate comes to my side.
“Slate, come on; Courtney filled in whoever would listen that she is a freak. When did Finn decide you needed a babysitter, especially a human?”
“Because it’s people like you that give us vampires a bad name. You take things too far. You feel that you have to put Ivory down. For what? Because she spoke her mind and you overheard it?” Zeke comes to my other side.
“I can’t believe this. Are you claiming her?” she asks.
“That’s none of your business,” Caspian says, coming over.
“Nicole, if you still want to work with the band, you will back off and leave her alone,” Rush says behind her. She doesn’t turn to look at him; she just keeps looking at me.
“I get it; you all want to fuck her. I can see the appeal. I heard about her little gift. She’s like a new toy; you think you like it, but once you keep playing, you will get bored. So we can’t touch you?” She stands in front of me.
I cross my arms. “Try it and see.” I raise an eyebrow at her. “Or are you scared of me?” I smile at her, and she looks at me, her smile gone.
“I’m not that stupid. I may not be able to touch you, but can you save someone else?” In a speed of light, she has moved to a fan who was watching the whole scene play out. “Can you save her?” She takes hold of her neck.
“Nicole, pack it in,” Rush growls at her.
“You know you can’t interfere unless you’ve claimed, and I am feeling a little hungry.” Her eyes turn black. The girl starts sobbing. I know I won’t be fast enough to reach the girl, to save her before Nicole takes her first bite.
“Slate,” I say his name, wanting him to do something, anything. I look at the girl as she looks at me; I have never felt so powerless. I have never seen anyone die, and I haven’t seen anyone feed upon a person.
“We can’t get involved. I’m so sorry, Ivory. I don’t know what to do.” Slate looks at me with such a guilty look.
I am here to protect these people, and I’m already failing to do just that. “Nicole, don’t,” I beg her, and she just laughs.
“Cheers.” She winks at me, her fangs come out, and she bends down, close to the girl's neck.
“No!” I scream. I lift my hands, wanting her to stop. Suddenly, this force I can’t explain leaves my body; before I know what is happening, Nicole is flying across the room, the girl safe and untouched. I run to her, and she falls into my arms, crying so hard, I feel the vibrations through me.
“What the hell was that?” Nicole stands, looking at me like I could burn her.
“Leave,” I say angrily.
“What the…” Before she can say another word, I shout out to leave, and once again, this energy zaps through my whole body, and she is being dragged outside by an invisible force.
“Are you okay?” I cup the girl’s face. She looks at me in such awe and fear.
“I want to go home.” Tears still fall down her cheeks.
“Come on
, I’ll get you a cab.” I put my arm around her waist and start to leave the room
“Ivory,” Slate shouts out my name, but I can’t look at any of them. I’m still angry and I’m afraid I might hurt them. I can’t explain what happened, but I know it was all me.
“Don’t come near me please; I am still wound up,” I tell him, not looking back. I walk the girl out of the building, sit on a nearby wall, and listen as she calls for a cab.
“How did you do that?” she asks me.
“I honestly don’t know.” I look at her, and she seems to have calmed down.
“Thank you, for saving me. I wasn’t even supposed to be here. My parents think I’m staying at a friend’s house. I just had to see the band. I heard rumors things happen behind the scenes, but I didn’t think they weren’t true. Surely, they wouldn’t let them meet people if they thought they would come to harm? Guess I was stupid for thinking that,” she sighs, wiping her eyes.
“You’re not stupid. You thought you would be safe, and I think you would have been if I’d kept my stupid mouth shut. I wound her up. If I’d kept my comment to myself, none of this would have happened.” I feel my body calming, but my hands are still shaking.
“I thought vampires were so cool. I loved Vampire Diaries, but even in that, people came to harm. It shows never go anywhere by yourself.” She shakes her head. “So, you are with the band? I saw how protective they were of you; that Nicole girl was so jealous.”
“I am here to help keep people safe, and I almost didn’t. I am so sorry for what happened. I’m just happy that it ended how it did. I swear, if Nicole hangs around at the meet and greets, I am going to kick up a fuss.” And kick her bony ass.
“Are you are a like a superhero?”
I burst out laughing. “I wish I was.”
“You are. You have super powers, you just need a costume and you will be one.”
“I have a gift, not superpowers. My gift only affects the supernatural; I can still get hurt as any human would. If you punched me or slapped me, it would hurt like a bitch.” We giggle.
“Well, you are a superhero to me,” she says to me when the cab pulls up. “Thank you again, and keep up the good work.” She hugs me one more time before climbing into the cab and driving off.
Chapter Ten
Ivory
I sit there, just looking at the sky when I feel someone sit next to me, I turn to see Caspian. “I hope you don’t mind me joining you.” He places his hands in his lap. “I am so sorry what happened back there. Are you okay?”
“I think so. I don’t even know what happened. I felt like this electric shock vibrating through me. I was so scared that girl was going to die, I felt myself start to break, thinking I was going to watch this girl’s life slip from her eyes.” My own tears start to fall. “I was so scared.” He pulls me into him, and I sob into his chest.
“It’s okay. I know it was a lot to take on. No one was expecting that. We’ve told everyone no one can feed on anyone while in the band, but Nicole did it to try and prove a point. You were so amazing, so strong.” He kisses the top of my head.
I continue to cry. “I didn’t feel brave and strong. I thought she was going to die, that her death would have been on my hands.”
“But you saved her. You saved her life.” He sits back, cupping my face like I did that girl when she was crying. “You saved her; you did an amazing thing.” His eyes look deeply into mine. I feel like I’ve stopped breathing.
I can’t look away from him. His touch soothes me, makes me feel stronger. I look at his mouth, and all I want is for him is to keep soothing me. I look into his eyes, and they have turned black.
I cup his cheek; his eyes close for a second, leaning into my touch before he opens them again and leans down, and his lips gently touch mine. I feel his tongue glide along my bottom lip. I open my mouth, giving him access, and he pulls me farther into him, deepening the kiss.
I fist his shirt, kissing him with everything I have. His lips on mine feel so right, so good. I never want it to stop.
All my fears slip away, and all I feel is this need burning right inside of me. I pull him into me, wanting to crawl inside him. I have never felt like this before. I feel like I just want to rip his clothes off and have him right here, not caring who watches or sees.
I slowly lean back, lying on the wall with Caspian hovering on top of me. I wrap my legs around his waist, feeling his erection press against my core, making me gasp. I kiss him harder, and I jump when my tongue touches his fang. He pulls back, covering his mouth with his hand.
I sit up, and he looks away. I cover the hand on his mouth with mine, turning him so he faces me. He looks a little embarrassed and guilty. I pull his hand away and look at his fangs. I lean toward him, raising my hand, touching them.
His eyes are still dark so least I know he is still turned on. I scoot over closer to him. I lick his fang, before I pull him into me again, kissing him, showing him that I don’t care.
He lifts me so effortlessly. I’m straddling him, and I start grinding myself against him. He growls at the back of his throat, grabs my hair, and kisses me with such force that I could orgasm from just this kiss alone.
“You taste so good.” My dream flashes in my mind, and I pull back, my breathing fast.
Caspian doesn’t need to breathe, but his eyes are so dark they are pure black. I stand up, taking a step back. I slowly pull down my jeans, my soaked underwear with them. His eyes watch me, never leaving my body. I take off my jacket and top, so I am standing in front of him, completely naked.
I notice his knuckles have turned white from gripping the wall. I undo his jeans button and zipper, freeing his hard cock. He is so big and smooth.
I stand between his legs, kissing him, pressing my body against him, my hand on his dick. I glide my hand up and down, feeling the pre-cum on the top of his head. I bend down, taking him into my mouth, tasting him before he lifts my head, his thumb touching my bottom lip. He lifts me up so I am straddling him again, hovering above him.
He holds onto his cock, gliding it along my folds, spreading my juices, teasing my entrance.
“Do you want me?” I whisper. I don’t know why I asked, it's evident that he does, but I need to hear him say it.
“Yes,” he answers breathily.
He guides his erection to my entrance, and I slowly slide down, letting him fill me, stretch me. I hold onto his shoulders, pushing farther down until he’s fully inside me. He leans forward, his head moving to my chest.
I start to move up and slowly back down, teasing us both. I feel his hands dig into my ass; he helps lift me then rams me back down. My hands move to the hem of his shirt taking it off. I press my breasts against his chest, wanting to feel skin against skin.
“You are so beautiful,” he says in a husky voice, tucking my hair back. His eyes are on mine as I use my fingers to stroke along his cheeks. His eyes close, leaning into my touch, and when he opens them, they are back to normal. I smile.
“Your eyes aren’t black anymore,” I whisper against his lips.
“It must be your touch,” he says gently.
“Must be.” I smile against his lips and start kissing him again. I keep moving up and down, and when that ache starts to build, I start to speed up, my fingers digging hard into his hair, groaning into the night air.
He grips me, moving me so fast that his dick keeps hitting this spot that makes me ache so badly. Soon, I am screaming out my release, and with a few more thrusts, he comes inside me. He holds me against him as I lay my head on his shoulder.
“That was amazing.” He wraps his arms around me.
“It really was,” I giggle. He places a soft kiss on my neck. “I think we should get dressed before anyone sees us.” I raise myself, and when he slips out of me, I whimper at the loss.
With wobbly legs, I grab my clothes from the floor, placing them on the wall. Once again, I can’t wear my underwear, so I place them to the side, and I put on my clothes
. I use my fingers to straighten my hair then I place my underwear in my jacket pocket.
When I look at Caspian, he is already dressed, sitting on the wall watching me with a satisfied look on his face that makes him look so cute.
“You ready?” I ask him.
“Let’s go.” He takes my hand, entwining our fingers, and we head straight to the bus.
Then I remember I was supposed to meet Sean to watch a movie. I look around the area, but they must have already gone. I just have to explain tomorrow. I don’t really want to miss out on making any friends, well friends who are human.
“I was supposed to meet Sean, feel kind of bad that I ditched him.”
“I’m sure he will understand. It looks like you will be riding our bus again.” He smiles shyly at me and opens the bus door. All the guys are in the living area and their eyes are on us when we step up.
“Everything okay?” Slate asks, coming over to me.
“Yeah, I’m sorry about before. I just didn’t want to accidentally hurt you too. I was still a little angry over what that woman almost did.”
He takes hold of my hands. “I am so sorry that this shit happened again. She has been fired since it does state in her contract that she is not to feed when on tour. She broke it. What happened back there? You were able to push her from where you were?” He takes me to the couch and we sit down.
“I don’t know. I was telling Caspian that I was so scared; I was angry but mostly scared, and I thought the fan was going to die. Then this feeling swept through me, like a current, and the next thing I knew, Nicole was being pushed away. I didn’t know I could do that.”
“I think your gift is connected to your emotions, just like you were scared about the veins when we were feeding, you were scared and angry with Nicole, but you just need to learn to harness it.” He looks at me in amazement.
“Maybe that’s why I couldn’t do anything to Rush? Because I wasn’t feeling such deep emotion?” I look at Rush; his arms are crossed, and he is staring at me.
“So you and Caspian just talked?” he asks, and I feel my face start to blush.
