“Oh, Miss Pepper, those are words I certainly won’t ever forget, and yes, I know Mama worked hard to help me. Thank you so much for tending to my train. I’ll see you at the church.” Patricia touched her cream veil. It really was time. The lace on her bodice and the flounces in her creamy white gown reminded her she was ready.
All of her possessions except the things she’d used to prepare for the day were moved in advance to her future home, Brad’s beautiful Victorian. He’d worked hard to finish it in time. Trisha had helped him with the interior decorating, and everything had been restored and updated. She believed Bradley’s grandmother would be proud of the work they’d done.
Ten minutes later, her mother gave her a kiss with tears in her eyes and then took her seat, escorted by ushers. Trisha walked down the aisle on her father’s arm before all of her friends and family, her eyes sparkling. Her fiancé appeared overcome with joy as she approached, his eyes locked on hers.
She joined him at the altar where he stood with his brother Brent as best man, and his friends, Jack and Prince Harry as groomsmen. His sky blue eyes and loving smile warmed her from head to toe as he stood there gazing at her as she took her place beside him.
Her matron of honor arranged her train one more time and returned to her spot beside the other bridesmaids. Cara filled that special role, and Brandy, Briar, and Bridget were her bridesmaids, wearing long coral peach gowns that flowed all the way to the floor. Dixie was her flower girl, wearing a floral peach and white dress with a peach sash. She’d spread peach, pink, and white rose petals in her basket and stood beside her mom at the front of the church. The bride and her maids carried flowers in colors of coral peach, pastel peach, creamy white, and various shades of pink, consisting of zinnias, daisies, roses, and hydrangeas.
Her groom looked handsome as ever wearing his white cowboy hat, his favorite cowboy boots, a black tuxedo with a white shirt, peach cumber band, and a peach silk tie in a paisley pattern. A hot pink rosebud pinned to his suit looked stunning against the black.
There had been a brief moment of surprise when reporters flanked both sides of the walkway leading to the church doors, but she’d smiled and waved for the cameras. She imagined the reporters would wait outside for them to emerge and snap even more photos. It couldn’t be helped, and Trisha didn’t mind. She didn’t want to disappoint the fans of Eternity.
The rest of both of their families and many of their friends filled the church with love, and particularly Miss Pepper, who brought Norman along in a lovely white cage, wearing a peach and black collar over his white fur. Somehow, Bradley had made a friend of Norm, and he occasionally sat near him during a movie. Not too close, but close enough to be considered a future cat owner relation. Her fluffy white cat seemed to have a growing appreciation for Brad since he’d delivered gourmet cans of tuna and salmon on a great many visits to Brook Cottage in recent months.
“Are you happy? You look absolutely stunning, radiant!” Brad whispered as she placed her hand in his. He then raised her hand to his lips and brushed it with a sweet kiss.
“Thank you, my darling. You look so handsome, and I am truly happy,” she replied. “I am the happiest woman in the whole world to be marrying you.”
“I will do everything in my power to make you the happiest woman in the world for the rest of your days,” he whispered back as the special music they’d selected, including a song by Eternity, continued to fill the church with joy.
“And I shall do the same for you, but you’ve already made me the happiest woman in the world.” She smiled up adoringly at her handsome future husband as the minister stepped across the platform to perform the ceremony. Then she leaned closer, causing him to laugh when she whispered, “Don’t look now, but I think Norman is winking at us. You know he doesn’t ever smile, but he does on rare occasion wink. And a wink is his very happiest expression.”
