Gypsy intertwined Cyra’s fingers in hers and squeezed tight for a minute before letting go. This was what they had been put through hell and then some to get to. Cyra felt the pit return to the bottom of her stomach but they had already come this far so she refused to say anything and ruin the momentum.
Dewayne’s hand reached for the door on the right and crept in stealthily, not knowing what was on the other side or if the Council would have any way of knowing about the secret dimension. Blinding lights flooded out, making it impossible to see and they felt themselves become weightless as they floated higher and higher through the doors. No sense of direction or where to go since their eyesight was still blurry, made it hard to keep the calmness that had previously been there.
They tried to figure out where to go first, but the blurriness still pursued, leaving them with only their hearing and sense of touch to try to find each other. Trying to send out a telepathic message, Gypsy first thought, can anyone get this?
Mostly full of static but slightly able to make out what was being transmitted, Dewayne tried to send back a message, I got it!
Followed by Lamb agreeing and Cyra stuck in a panic. I’m freaking the fuck out in case anyone cares!
“SILENCE!” A loud deep voice echoed throughout the chambers.
What was that? Gypsy asked fearfully as she felt her eyesight start to return to normal.
Across the way she saw where Cyra was sitting trying to take deep breaths. Dewayne and Lamb were on opposite ends, still trying to regain their normal vision.
“I SAID SILENCE!” The same voice repeated.
Gypsy lunged as quickly as she could toward Cyra. She needed to be with her best friend since clearly this was not the most ideal situation. Anxiety stricken and all they wanted to do was go home; no idea when that would be or if it was even possible at this point.
Whispering as softly as she could, Gypsy wrapped her arms around Cyra and said, “we’ll figure a way out of here. We always do.”
Dewayne and Lamb finally had their vision return and they looked terrified. Completely different from the courageous and fearless aliens that had accompanied them throughout the majority of their journey thus far. Finally taking a wider look around, Gypsy saw what was so terrifying: the Council.
Standing at about ten feet tall each, the Council was made up of seven heavier-set aliens. Their appearances were all the same, white with two eyes each and five bulbs and phalanges; making them appear to be the closest looking to humans out of all the aliens the girls had seen. Judging by how scared Lamb and Dewayne looked though, made it pretty clear that no one had ever seen or described the appearance of the Council before this moment.
“WHAT IS THE MEANING BEHIND THE SNEAKING AROUND?”
Bowing down so low his head almost touched the floor, Dewayne appeared apologetic almost, with Lamb doing the same behind him.
What the fuck? Gypsy thought as she observed what was happening.
They can see us? Cyra thought to herself as she looked at Dewayne and Lamb.
“Your Honors, we never meant any harm. This is all a misunder…” Dewayne was cut off.
“SILENCE! WE DID NOT SAY YOU COULD SPEAK!”
Bowing even lower, Dewayne and Lamb were full of fear, as much as they tried to hide it, Gypsy could tell by the way they were acting. The Council could see into every dimension imaginable apparently so this plan was taking a very unexpected turn; not in a good way. Gypsy and Cyra continued to stay silent in a corner as they tried to slow down their heartbeats and compose their thoughts.
They said this was the way? Gypsy thought incoherently.
Clearly they weren’t aware of this, Cyra replied telepathically.
“WHO IS THAT? WHY ARE THEY CONTINUING WHEN WE HAVE SAID MULTIPLE TIMES TO BE SILENT?”
FUCK, Gypsy and Cyra thought in unison as they scrambled to hide themselves even more.
“NO ONE HAS EVER ATTEMPTED TO VISIT THE COUNCIL FACE TO FACE…WHAT IS THE MEANING BEHIND IT?”
“Your Honors,” Lamb started, still bowing and not making eye contact, “no disrespect in any way, but we simply do not understand why EDM is considered illegal or a threat and why humans play such a big part in our galaxy?”
“WE HAVE TOLD YOUR YOUNG GENERATION TIME AND TIME AGAIN, THAT KIND OF MUSIC LEADS TO REBELLIONS AND THE DRUG USE ITSELF IS SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE!”
“But it’s not even about the drugs; so many people are sober when they go and…” Lamb stuttered before being cut off.
“HOW DARE YOU QUESTION THE COUNCIL’S DECISIONS!”
“Your Honors, no disrespect in any way…” Dewayne started to say.
“WE WERE NOT FINISHED!” The Council was starting to get upset and the girls could see that Dewayne and Lamb’s best efforts were not working. They needed to jump in and figure out a way to take out the Council before something even worse happened.
Gypsy grabbed Cyra’s hand and helped her onto her feet. Staying as inconspicuous as possible, they inched their way toward Dewayne and Lamb. Trying not to alert the Council, every movement was almost in slow motion. The unknown dimension seemed to be providing a barrier for the girls to hide behind as they got closer and closer.
The energy that radiated off of each Council member was unpleasant and put a nasty taste in the girls’ mouths. Every movement controlled, every breath meticulous; this was their chance to help Dewayne and Lamb.
“YOUR ACTIONS ARE VERY DISAPPOINTING!” The voice continued to speak, “THEY REQUIRE THAT YOU BOTH MUST BE REPRIMANDED TO THE HIGHEST AND HARSHEST DEGREE!”
Gypsy gasped, unable to believe what she was hearing. This Council was pure evil and wanted nothing more than domination over everything.
We have to get in there! Gypsy telepathically said to Cyra as they continued to get closer.
And do what exactly? Cyra replied.
I haven’t thought that far yet but we need to create some sort of distraction.
Okay, I’m following your lead dude.
Cyra followed Gypsy as they approached where Dewayne and Lamb were kneeling down. Since the Council was floating at least ten feet in the air, it would be nearly impossible for them to sneak up and take them out one by one, so Gypsy had to think of something and fast.
Looking around more, the room seemed to be made of a cloud like substance that would surely cause problems if it were tampered with. Gypsy waved her hands to make sure the Council still couldn’t see them and then ran to one of the walls closest to where they were floating. Slamming her hands as hard as she could against the puffy wall, it rippled and the cloud substance flew horizontally into the center of the room. Cyra started doing the same and soon the space beneath the Council was filled and almost impossible to see through.
Grabbing Cyra’s hand without missing a beat, Gypsy ran over to Dewayne and Lamb so they could find a way to get the hell out of there. But that wouldn’t solve anything with the Council and them continuing to torture aliens and humans because of their taste in music, so it was essential that they executed the entire Council.
“What are you guys doing?” Lamb asked nervously.
“What do you think we’re doing? Helping you guys get out so we can finish what we came here to do,” Gypsy replied.
“Yeah, but these are more powerful aliens than we had originally anticipated…” Lamb seemed anxious as he continued to glance at where the Council was.
“We have to do something! Anything!” Gypsy was not having it. She thought they would be somewhat happy that they came up with a distraction but instead, Lamb and Dewayne were not too thrilled.
“We don’t have any weapons or power that would take them out though…they’re practically like gods,” Lamb was trying to be rational, but their time to think was running out and they needed to start moving.
“Can’t we conjure something up together? Like aren’t there som
e sort of mystical powers we can channel?” Cyra asked, trying to help brainstorm.
“Well, I’ve only ever read about it, but I suppose it’s possible. The main thing is, we have to stay focused!” Dewayne was looking around frantically. “We all have to hold hands as tight as possible and focus on becoming one divine light of power,” he was talking really fast now, “just focus on becoming an iridescent light with your whole being. You are the light. You are powerful.”
I am the light. I am powerful, Gypsy and Cyra thought to themselves over and over again.
Grasping onto Lamb and Dewayne’s hands as hard as possible, they started to feel a warm sensation develop in between their palms. The warmness quickly started to get hot like coals that had been on fire for hours.
I am the light. I am powerful. I am the light. I am powerful. I am the light. I am powerful.
Over and over again they all repeated those seven words until the heat on their palms was unbearable. They felt the membrane covering on their hands start to melt away and morph them into these unknown creatures that stood twenty feet tall each. Dewayne and Lamb were the first to have their coloring change to an iridescent and glassy looking exterior. Their eyes and stardust remained the same, but their auras changed to match their powerful presence.
The girls felt themselves change next, having their various shades change to the uniform iridescence that Dewayne and Lamb were. Any kind of fear they had felt before melted away with their previous exteriors. They embodied what they had been chanting and focusing on: light and powerful. Almost untouchable but it was time to officially end the war that had been started by the Council.
“You guys ready?” Dewayne’s voice had gotten even deeper than before.
“Yeah, let’s fucking go!” Gypsy was surprised at how her voice echoed throughout.
“Yo! Our voices are trippy as fuck!” Cyra giggled as she tested out her new voice.
“Dude! You’re telling me!” Lamb laughed along.
Take a few test shots first and figure your powers out real quick, Dewayne telepathically told the others.
Wait! How will we kn—, Gypsy started to ask but lasers shot out of her eyes before she could finish.
There hasn’t been much written about the different kinds of powers we’ll all get or how many but I’m assuming it’ll kind of be like in movies? Not entirely sure but I think they’ll come naturally, maybe, Dewayne was trying to maintain his leadership role without allowing any uncertainties to appear.
Look at what I can do! Lamb was excitedly pointing his bulbs around and moving various objects with ease.
Hey! I think I got something too! Cyra internally squealed with excitement as she picked up a heavy looking chair and tossed it out of the way with barely a flick of her wrist.
Dewayne! What can you do? Lamb asked looking over.
I can hear everything everyone is thinking, even through the block that’s supposed to be up and I guess I have x-ray vision too because I can see clearly through these walls around us.
Yo that’s fucking awesome! Now what are we supposed to do? Lamb asked as he started to get a grip on his new power.
Let’s make sure we can all still hover and then go from there. We need to get them when they’re not expecting it.
One by one they started to hover above the ground again and gradually lifted themselves so they were just beneath where the Council had remained floating. The Council was so immersed in their own conversations about what actions needed to be taken, they were completely unaware of the chaos that was about to ensue beneath them.
Gypsy focused on the floating shadows above and shot laser beams so quickly they were done within the blink of an eye. Dewayne tuned into what the Council was thinking, WHAT WAS THAT? SURELY NOT THOSE STUPID PEASANTS! Giving Lamb and Cyra a nod, they went into action immediately. Cyra ripped up pieces of the tiles that were under the cloud-like substance covering the floor and began throwing them in the direction of the Council while Lamb guided them to the heads of each member.
“WHO DARES TRY TO ATTACK US? SILLY, SILLY, FOOLS! YOU SHALL NEVER DEFEAT US OR EVEN COME CLOSE! WE ARE TOO POWERFUL SO IT IS BEST TO SURRENDER NOW!”
The elders were trying to scare them, but they still remained oblivious to just how much power Dewayne, Lamb, Cyra, and Gypsy had developed. This fight was going to be an even level and the Council was clearly not ready for it. With their god-like mentality, this was unheard of. No one had ever successfully carried out an attack on the elders in the Council. With their powers having been controlled and practiced for lightyears upon lightyears, there was no telling if the Council would be able to be defeated.
Watchers tried breaking down the door, but since the group was disguised by an unknown dimension, they would not be able to easily take them out. It wasn’t in their nature to stop though, so the Watchers continued to try to break through until the Council told them to go and gather their army. This was bad news; really bad news.
Um did y’all hear that? They’re coming back with an army! Gypsy telepathically spoke to the group.
Yeah but who’s to say how long it’ll take or if they’ll even be able to penetrate our dimension? They would have to do a lot to even figure out what dimension we’re in or how to get here, Dewayne reassured them, but still something wasn’t sitting right.
Trying to start and end a war, Dewayne motioned for them to strike again. Starting with Gypsy’s lasers then Lamb and Cyra’s tile attacks as Dewayne continued to listen to their thoughts.
WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO DO? One thought as a tile broke midair next to where the Council was sitting.
THIS MUST BE SOME SORT OF SICK JOKE, another one thought as the tiles continued to break around them.
“How long are we supposed to be doing this same shit?” Gypsy asked impatiently as time continued to pass without a concrete attack plan.
“Just trust me,” Dewayne tried to reassure her but he could tell her patience was running thin.
Think, think, think! What can we do that would completely obliterate their entire existence? Let it come to you, but think! Faster! Dewayne was in his own head going back and forth about what they should do. He had put so much pressure on himself to be the leader and get them through to another dimension that he hadn’t really thought about how they were going to finalize their attempt to save the EDM world.
“I think I have an idea!” Dewayne shouted in excitement.
“Well, now would be the perfect time to relay the fucking message since we’ve been a little caught up!” Gypsy shouted back with an edge in her voice.
“Remember how we did that one thing with all of us coming together and it created that giant ripple effect?”
“Vaguely, yeah, I guess…” Gypsy replied.
Can you guys hear me? Dewayne asked telepathically.
Yeah! Cyra thought back
Yup! Lamb nodded his head slightly.
Spit it out motherfucker! We’re wasting time! Gypsy felt herself starting to get more and more anxious.
I’m going to try and block their brain wavelengths with EDM sounds and beats. I can’t guarantee anything will happen or work, but it’s worth a shot. Dubstep, maybe?
Honestly anything at this point would be better than us trying to keep our heads above water right now since nothing is happening, Gypsy thought back.
I like that plan! Cyra was pretty cheerful and Lamb just winked.
Here goes nothing!
Before he could even let out his breath, Dewayne took most of his energy and transmitted the filthiest, grimiest, dubstep beat with some of the hardest drops into the brain wavelengths he had been intercepting. Screams erupted shortly there after and the four of them were finally able to take a quick breath before floating up to the level of the Council.
“Hm, wow, doesn’t feel so nice being controlled, does it?” Gypsy was being a smart-ass
as they approached the god-like figures.
“WHAT? WHO GOES THERE?”
“See, the Council thinks they know best by trying to get rid of all EDM and control those around it, but that’s never proved to be successful in the past has it? The oppressors almost always end up being overthrown by the oppressed, isn’t that right?” A twinkle appeared in Dewayne’s eyes as his power continued to pulse through his veins.
“HOW DARE YOU SAY WE OPPRESS THE CITIZENS OF OUR GALAXY!”
“It’s true though. The Council does not allow self-expression or any kind of freedom. With all these rules and Watchers constantly roaming…” Dewayne paused.
The Council was getting furious. They did not want to hear what was being stated. Their power has never been challenged like this and they clearly were not open to hearing any kind of constructive criticism. Watchers began to pound on the doors, but with the protection of the unknown dimension, it would be nearly impossible for them to attack.
“Your Honors, we just want to be heard. For so many lightyears we have felt…” Lamb tried to chime in and help reiterate what Dewayne was trying to say but the Council’s pristine glowing white figures were quickly changing to a bold and fiery red.
“IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE WAY WE RUN THINGS, SIMPLY LEAVE! WE WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY OF THIS NONSENSE DISRUPTING OUR PERFECTLY CONTENT SOCIETY!”
Dewayne and Lamb’s go-getter attitudes were starting to fade. Cyra and Gypsy were sitting there, just watching the interactions go down. They needed to do something; step in and make their voices heard. The Council needed to be stopped one way or another.
CHAPTER THIRTEEN
Hey can you ‘hear’ me? Gypsy asked Cyra telepathically.
