However, she could not deny she liked the thought that he’d been waiting for her. She was special.
Nana had never seen herself as special to anyone before.
Perhaps all this talk of fate was something she could buy into. She was his, and he was hers and that would never change no matter what.
When Vito’s face swam before her eyes, she pushed him away with all her strength, he was not welcome here. He was her past and George was her present, and god help Vito if he tried to invade her future.
She placed her wine down on the bedside table while George went to the window and drew the drapes. He paused to look outside before he dragged them closed, shutting out the world, leaving them the only two people who mattered.
Then he turned to face her, his eyes raking over her body, and heat crept through her veins. Her heart beat hard and fast as he approached, the mild-mannered man gone, replaced by a predator who stalked his prey. She had no doubt if Vito or anyone ever threatened her again he would deal with them, swiftly and surely.
Nana swallowed, a mixture of fear and desire. She wanted him, she wanted this, but it had been a long time since a man had touched her.
“Relax,” George whispered as he stood before her, his breath caressing her feverish skin. “We’ll take it slow.”
“What if I don’t want to take it slow?” She arched her eyebrow and tried to put a barrier between them, trying to shut off her feelings from what was to follow.
He smiled softly. “Breathe.”
She exhaled hard, not realizing she’d been holding her breath. “I’m not used to letting people see the real me.”
“That’s the only person I want to see.” He reached out and stroked her bare arm, his touch igniting a fire in her belly. “But it takes time to find the courage to let someone else see you at your most vulnerable.”
A tear trickled down her cheek. “We have time.”
“We do.” He kissed away her tears and then captured her mouth with his. Nana slid her hands over his shoulders and leaned on him for support as her legs turned to jelly. In this moment, she wasn’t the girl who no one loved, she wasn’t the young woman filled with guilt, nor the mother of three wonderful people. She was Nana, ready to strip away the layer of protection she’d wrapped around herself and finally be free.
George wound his arm around her waist and slid his hand down over her bottom. Pulling her closer, she felt the full extent of his arousal and wriggled against him, teasing him, as his tongue plundered her mouth. Shivers ran through her body, not of fear, but of desire. A desire for this man who kissed her tenderly.
Nana slid her hands down off his shoulders and began to unbutton his shirt, revealing his hard-toned body. George followed her lead and unzipped her dress, his fingers stroking her back as he exposed her skin.
One item of clothing at a time, they slowly undressed each other, taking it slow, growing comfortable with each other, until the shyness she’d first experienced had disappeared. What was left was a need so intense, it swept all thoughts from her head. There was only room for George, and that was just fine.
Maneuvering toward the bed, George eased her down so she lay on her back, dressed only in her panties and bra. George stepped back and gazed adoringly at her, before pushing his shorts off his slim hips. Naked and erect, he moved stealthily toward her, a predator on the prowl, and she swallowed down her excitement, more than ready to be his prey.
He hooked his finger around the elastic of her panties and pulled them down, easing her feet out one at a time. Heat flared across her cheeks as he eased her knees apart and opened her to his gaze. She was wet, more than ready to take him, but he had other ideas. Much more pleasurable ideas.
Kneeling on the floor, he kissed her calves and worked his way higher, his fingers stroking her skin as he ignited a fire inside her, so hot she might be consumed any moment.
George’s fingers and mouth inched closer to where she needed his touch. She ached in her core for him to stroke her mound and the sensitive bundle of nerves that throbbed in need. Her nerve endings were on fire as if a fever burned through her body. So when he finally flicked his tongue over her clit, she almost exploded.
Her back arched and she pressed herself forward, urging him on as she plunged her fingers into his hair, not wanting the delicious torture to end. His teeth grazed her, his lips kissed her, soft and hard, and she whimpered as he brought her closer and closer to her first orgasm. The first of many. She knew that for a fact, her man took the pleasure of his mate very seriously.
As she teetered on the edge of her climax, George drew two fingers along her wet sex and then plunged them inside her, hard, rough, pushing her over the edge as the tip of his finger grazed her inner walls. Her fingers tightened in his hair in an involuntary action, she wanted him to never stop, to kiss her and lick her until her brain was mush, overloaded by the pleasure her body experienced.
And then it was too much. As her orgasm subsided, her overly sensitive body could take no more.
George lifted his head, kissing her skin as he withdrew the pressure he’d exacted on her and she lay completely spent on his bed, her hand covering her eyes as her breasts heaved.
When his weight dipped on the bed, she moved to cuddle close to him, and he gathered her up, holding her against his chest. They lay together, stroking each other, tasting each other, kisses and caresses until the fire in her belly returned and she slid her hand down between their bodies and curled her fingers around his rock-hard length.
Working her hand up and down, she stroked him, his body tensing as he hardened further. She could make him come with her hand or she could slide her body down onto him and they could come together.
Changing the angle of her body, she lifted her leg and slid her knee over his thigh, guiding his hardness between her folds. The head of his cock slipped inside her, stretching her inner walls. With a groan of approval, George thrust his hips forward and filled her in one long stroke. She gasped, aching deep inside from the sudden invasion. But it was a good ache, an ache that would build and build until she came around him.
Nana curled her tongue around his earlobe and then grazed the sensitive flesh with her teeth as he eased his cock out of her. Instantly, he thrust forward hard, lunging into her, impaling her fully. She’d never missed sex. But as he lunged in and out of her, while his fingers fumbled with the clasp of her bra, she knew she could never abstain again. At least not from sex with George.
She was hooked. On the scent of him, the taste of him as she trailed her tongue along his collarbone, and the touch of him beneath her fingertips.
In and out, his thick length grazed her inner walls, fast and slow, he took her to the edge of her orgasm and then left her hanging there. Each time she neared her climax, he eased off, prolonging their lovemaking until she was ready to explode.
George was the master of self-control. But she wasn’t about to let him have it all his own way.
Grazing her fingernails down his back, she decided it was time to bring him to his knees. Or his own climax, at least.
Nipping his neck, she slipped her hand around his body and cupped his balls in her hand. While she fondled him, she tightened her inner muscles, while at the same time she dipped her head and sucked on his nipple.
George groaned and muttered something unintelligible. His body tensed, and he thrust into her hard and fast before he tensed, crying out her name as he came, his hot seed spurting deep inside her.
Nana didn’t let up until she’d milked him dry. With one last hard thrust, he sagged forward, his weight resting on his elbows. Before his body shook.
She tensed, was he all right? Then she realized he was chuckling. “You are quite a woman, Nana.”
“And you are quite a man, George.” She took his face in her hands and kissed his lips.
He lifted himself up and brushed her damp hair away from her face. “I want you in my bed every night, Nana. I want to wake up each morning with you. I want your beauti
ful face to be the first thing I see.”
She smiled softly. “I’d like that. I’d like that a lot.”
“Then let’s make it happen. This thing with Vito has made me realize how lucky I am, and how I’m never going to risk losing you.” His face, so sincere, was etched with concern.
“Nothing is going to happen.” She kissed his lips and then sat up, reaching for the wine glasses. “Here.”
“Thanks.” He drank his fill, his eyes never leaving her body.
When she’d finished her wine, she leaned forward and kissed his mouth, while her hand curled around his already hardened cock. “Maybe you should pretend to be a bear.”
“I am a bear,” he growled roughly.
“Show me.” She moved away from him and knelt on all fours, while George positioned himself behind her.
He caressed her round bottom with both hands, his thumbs brushing against her exposed sex before pushing inside her. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the sensation as he explored her, ensuring she was ready for him. Then he knelt up, the head of his cock butting against her opening. In and out, he dipped the head of his cock inside her, while he slid his hand over her soft flesh, and then gripped her hips.
In one slick movement, he filled her, and she groaned, her face hidden in the pillow as he pulled out of her and then lunged forward. Empty and full, her overly sensitive inner walls registered each thrust of his thick hardness.
Raw, primal, he took her, his right hand remaining on her hip, holding her in place while he reached forward and tweaked her nipples as her breasts hung beneath her. Small explosions rocked her body as the sensations all connected. She came, her sex gripping his cock as he took her again and again. Pulsing and throbbing around him set off a chain reaction and George came, too, jerking into her, filling her with his essence.
When at last they lay down to sleep, she ached, inside and out, from the exertion of their lovemaking. George cradled her in his arms, kissing her back as she finally fell asleep. Tonight, there were no bad dreams, there was no sound of a motorbike to haunt her. Only thoughts of her mate and the way he made her feel like a woman.
Chapter Sixteen – George
They woke the next morning and made love again. Slow, sensual, the fever in his body induced by the nearness of his mate had passed. She intoxicated him, more than any fine wine ever could.
Afterward, they dressed and ate breakfast together before she went home to shower and change. Their plans were simple, spend the whole day together. Which meant Nana joining him at the museum for the opening of the new exhibit before they returned to Chance Heights to start work on the new activities he’d suggested.
“You look wonderful.” George kissed her cheek, then held the door open for her to get into his car. After a quick shower, he’d driven over to Chance Heights to pick her up, unable to bear being apart from her for long.
“I look the same as I did an hour ago.” She laughed, her mood lighter, her face less tense. Finally, it seemed as if they were making progress and moving out from under the shadow cast by Vito. Of whom there had been no sign.
“I can’t wait to get started on the work here after the opening of the exhibit.” He got into the driver’s seat and started the engine. “I’ve missed outdoor work.”
“The kids are all excited about it. Not that Marcus will tell you so. Unless you two are firm friends after your secret meeting last night?” Nana asked subtly.
“We came to a mutual understanding,” George said lightly. “We both want to protect you.”
“Because I can’t protect myself?” There was an edge to her voice, but then her face softened, and she let the subject go and rolled down the window. “I love this time of year; the leaves will soon start changing color and falling to the ground. Before we know it, we’ll be knee-deep in snow and the mountain will look as if it’s covered in a soft white blanket.”
“You like winter.” George turned the car toward town.
“I do. Don’t get me wrong, I love having the kids come to Chance Heights, but I like the winter months when it’s just us.” She turned to face George and suddenly asked, “Where are we going to live?”
He raised his eyebrows and considered it. “My place, if you want, it’s an easy drive to Chance Heights. Or, if you prefer, we can live with your kids, whichever makes you happy.”
“Either way it’s going to be tough.” Her voice was tinged with sadness. “I don’t want to leave Chance Heights, but I know we need our own space.”
“We’ll figure something out,” George assured her.
“We will.” She smiled brightly. “Today is for focusing on this display of yours, it must have taken a lot of work to set it up.”
“It did, but we pulled it together in a short time thanks to the enthusiasm of everyone involved. Calder and Elia captured the heart and imagination of everyone we spoke to.” They turned onto the main road into Bear Creek. It was early and the only people on the road were those heading to work.
However, when they turned into the museum parking lot, there was a hive of activity. “I didn’t know the press would be here.” Nana sounded uncertain.
“Don’t worry, they are only interested in the diamond.” George parked the car and got out, then he came around to the passenger side and offered Nana his hand. “It’s okay.”
Nana placed her hand in his and they strolled into the museum via the back entrance, where they came across Thorn, looking as cool and calm as ever. “Morning.”
“Morning, Thorn. Is everything set?” George asked, giving Nana’s hand a reassuring squeeze.
“It is. Last night we moved everything into position. It all went smoothly, we tested the alarms, and ran through the routine for the hundredth time with the security guards. All under the watchful eye of the insurers.”
“Sounds fun, I wish I’d been here,” George said and winked at Nana, who blushed and turned her face away.
“It was the most exciting event to occur in the museum for a long time,” Thorn said in all seriousness. “And I hope it stays that way.”
“I’m sure it will. No one can get into the corridor without the code and no one can get into the safe where the sword is kept without a code and the key.” George looked at the impressive building before him. “Shall we go inside?”
“We should.” Thorn looked at his watch. “In ten minutes the curator is going down to fetch the sword. The security guards are in place, it’s time to put our grand plan into action.” Thorn smiled. “Our sleepy museum is about to get put on the map.”
“I thought you weren’t interested in fame and fortune,” George questioned.
“I’m not. But this is great for Bear Creek. It’ll bring tourists to town out of season.” He slapped George on the back. “But because they are coming to see the diamond, they won’t be walking all over our mountain, instead the businesses in town will get a huge boost.”
“And Chance Heights Activity Center is expanding, too,” George said, trying to draw Nana into the conversation. She looked a little preoccupied as she looked around the parking lot. “Are you okay?” George hoped she wasn't thinking of running out on him.
However, Nana turned her full attention back to the conversation, sounding relaxed as she said, “Yes, George has come up with some new ideas we intend to implement. We get started this afternoon.”
“This is a good day for us all.” Thorn beamed a smile at them.
“Is Emilia or Magnus coming for the grand opening?” George asked.
“No, they are going to come in a couple of days. When the crowds have died down.” Thorn sighed. “I must go.”
They entered the museum together, the back entrance led them along a corridor, which branched off into a kitchen used by the museum café and a couple of offices used for the everyday running of the museum. Then they entered the museum itself and crossed the marble floor to where a lifelike Calder and Elia stood side by side in a glass display case.
“There’s the curator,
 George said quietly to Nana.
“He takes his job seriously,” Nana observed as Mr. Duffield walked toward the door leading to the basement with his face set.
“He does. The diamond and brooch are his responsibility according to the insurance company.” Thorn held up his key. “I’m lucky to get the backup.”
“Shouldn’t Mr. Duffield get a security team, too?” Nana asked. “In case someone tries to steal the key?”
“They also need the code. And neither of us will give it up easily.” George turned around as he spoke. “Here are the cameras, we should go and stand out of the way.” As they walked away from the exhibit, Thorn’s phone rang. He stepped away from George and Nana, before returning after a short conversation. “I have to go. Mrs. Shutter is having trouble with the doors. And we don’t want the museum locked when people come to see the diamond.”
“You stay here. I’ll go and help her,” George offered.
“Would you mind?” Thorn asked, glancing over to Mr. Duffield who was disappearing through the door leading toward the basement.
“No, you belong here. I’ll have it fixed in no time.” George headed for the front doors and Nana followed.
“I’ll have to arrange a maintenance man to take a look at them,” Thorn was already on his phone contacting the maintenance team. “They are so old, I don’t want to replace them, though.”
George called over his shoulder, “Considering their age, they have every right to be stiff in the morning.”
Thorn laughed, his eyes bright with excitement. “True. Good to see you again, Nana.”
“And you, Thorn,” Nana answered then said to George, “So, is Mrs. Shutter in need of help opening the doors or does she simply want you all to herself?”
George chuckled. “She called Thorn first, remember? Anyway, I’ve become blind to that kind of thing.”
“Why? Because too many women want to make you cocoa in the evening and tuck you up in bed?”
