  Bearly Theirs

Keiko Saito is having the worst day of her life — but it also happens to be the best. The same day she learns of her brother’s death and her need to return to Japan, she discovers that the feelings she has harbored for two men for almost two years are returned.

Logan and Cooper Anderson have known that Keiko was their mate from the first moment they met. They hired her for their business and planned to steal her heart at the same time. Their idea to take it slow is shot to hell when she learns of her brother’s death. They are together for one night, one perfect night when they allow their feelings for each other to dictate their actions. When they awake the next morning, their mate is gone.

  DEDICATION

In my early to mid-twenties, I spent a lot of time living and working in Japan. It was one of the best times of my life and I met so many fantastic people who have helped shape my life, and helped me to become the woman I am today. This is for all of them, but especially Clare, who is still very much my female soulmate.

  And for my hubby.

  Chapter 1

“Keiko! I can’t find the file for the Jenkins project in the system anywhere!” Keiko Saito sighed as she closed her eyes for a moment and counted to ten. She only got as far as eight when her counting was interrupted by a second shout that came from the same office as the first, but this time from a different man.

“Keiko! That damn spreadsheet you put together is broken again.”

She shot a quick glance at the clock and noticed it was close to the time she had to leave in order to catch her bus home. Giving up on trying for any level of the relaxed Zen state her mother was always urging her to achieve, she locked her computer for the night, pushed her chair out, and walked out from behind her desk. As she took the fifteen steps she knew would take her through the large double mahogany doors and into the corner office shared by her two bosses, Logan and Cooper Anderson, she ran through her usual mantra.

Control yourself! Don’t let them see how they affect you.

Taking one last, deep breath, she walked calmly into their office the way her mother had always told her to walk into a room, with her head held high and looking confident. The two men sat at their desks, their backs to the Houston skyline, and looked up at her as she approached them. Despite the fact that they were twins, and there were definite physical similarities between them, they were very different men.

Logan was the CEO of Anderson Civil Engineering. He had dark blond hair that was always perfect. Keiko had no idea what hair product the man used, but every time she saw him, no matter the time of day or night, his hair was always flawless. He wore it swept to the right and the thick dark blond strands fell impeccably. His bright green eyes were surrounded by beautiful long lashes, the likes of which were wasted on a man, and with the perfect amount of stubble across his cheeks and jaw, he made her mouth water. He was the more serious of the two, and Keiko struggled to count more than three times in the past eighteen months that he had laughed out loud.

Cooper was the head of design and execution for the business, and regardless of how stressful his job was, he was definitely the more relaxed of the two. In direct contrast to his brother, he laughed all the time and was laid-back and easygoing. He wore his dark blond hair longer, and Keiko’s hands would itch with the urge to run her fingers through the silken strands. His green eyes danced with mischief more often than not, and she had no doubt that he had managed to charm more than his fair share of females out of their panties.

Separately, they were an assault on a woman’s arousal in the most delicious way, but together they were simply deadly. She knew that both of them were fit, and due to the mixed martial arts they both had been competing in for many
years, they had bodies that made her mouth water.

Keiko was not one to listen to idle water-cooler gossip, but when it came to the men that had featured in every fantasy and sexually oriented dream she’d had since meeting them, she was helpless to resist. From what she had been told, the brothers shared everything. Including women. The thought of being the lucky woman to feature in an Anderson and Anderson sensual sandwich of pleasure was enough to break Keiko out in goose bumps.

“You bellowed?” Keiko inquired dryly. Both men’s facial expressions changed in the same instant. Logan’s face slipped into its usual scowl and Cooper grinned at her. Both men started to talk at once, asking questions until Keiko lifted her hand and whistled, loud and shrill. This was a skill she had perfected since coming to work at ACE, and it came in handy when both men required her help. “As developed as my ability to multitask is—and to be fair, it is definitely higher than most and that is why you headhunted me for this job in the first place and pay me what you do—I have yet to master the ability to conduct two conversations at the same time.”

“Sorry, Kei,” Cooper said with a grin that told her he was anything but.

She shook her head and cast a slight look to the heavens for patience. “Now, Logan, the Jenkins file still holds the status of pending, so it will be on the shared drive.” She held her hand up to stop him when it looked like he was about to interrupt. “Until that contract has been verified and the retainer has cleared, it will stay pending. Look in the commercial builds folder on that drive and there is a folder titled Jenkins.” Logan clicked his mouse a couple of times and then gave her the quick thumbs-up that he had what he needed.

“Cooper, there is nothing wrong with the spreadsheet I sent you. Have you changed anything in the master data and not transposed the same formula?”

Cooper got a sheepish look on his face as he tapped away on his keyboard for a moment. When he looked up from his screen, his grin was firmly in place again. “Yep, that is exactly what I did. Again. Sorry, Kei. What would we do without you?” He was the only person in the world that shortened her name, and she secretly loved it.

She nodded her head in response then turned to look between the two men. “Will there be anything else tonight, gentlemen?”

“No, thanks, Keiko,” Logan said with a small smile, and her heart stuttered at the intense look he suddenly got in his eyes. For some reason, it made her think of the way a predator would observe its prey. His look said he wanted to devour her, and she was only too willing to be devoured. She swallowed audibly and felt a gush of heat between her legs.

Giving them a wide and hopefully not-too-fake smile, Keiko nodded. “Great! Then have a good night and I will see you both in the morning.” Spinning on her three-inch heel, Keiko strode from the office, pausing only long enough to grab her jacket and purse, then left. She took the elevator down from the top floor, buzzing her way out the door and into the muggy air of a Texas spring evening.

She told herself as she walked the three blocks to her bus stop that there was no way that Logan or Cooper could tell that she had basically drenched her own panties in front of them. She would simply lie down and die of mortification if they ever knew how easily they turned her on. By the time she had reached the bus stop, and her phone started ringing, she had convinced herself that her secret was safe and that they had no clue.

  * * * *

“Jesus Christ,” Logan groaned as their office manager scampered from their office and out to the elevators so fast she basically left skid marks on the carpet. “Did you smell that?” Logan turned to his brother and from the mask of barely controlled need etched on his face, it was clear that Cooper had caught it as well.

Cooper closed his eyes and inhaled deeply again. “You’re damn fucking skippy I smelled that. Keiko saw something in the look you gave her that she definitely liked. Her breathing rate increased, I could see the pulse at the base of her neck start beating wildly, and the sweet, sweet musk of her arousal fucking filled this office.” Eyes opening, he turned to look at Logan, and Logan could see his eyes flickering green to black, which spoke of how close he was to losing control to his bear. “Our mate is needy, and not going to her and fulfilling that need is fucking killing my bear.”

Logan nodded. He understood exactly what Cooper was saying. Hell, his own bear was pacing impatiently within him, roaring his desire to chase their mate and claim her as theirs, but they had to show some restraint and control. There were issues they had to sort through before they claimed their mate, not least of which was explaining the fact to her that they had the ability to shift into half-ton bears with nothing more than a thought, and were members of the Greenspoint bear sloth. That tended to be one hell of a precursor to telling someone she was destined to be the love of their lives.

Logan stood with a grimace, shifting his erection within his trousers to a more comfortable position. As soon as he’d scented his mate’s arousal, his dick went from a moderate state of readiness to DEFCON two in the space of a heartbeat. “Come on, she has more of a head start than usual. If we want to follow that damn bus she takes home each night and make sure she gets home safe, we’re going to have to move fast.”

For the past eighteen months, the two of them had completely changed their lives to revolve around Keiko. From the moment she had walked through the doors at the law firm they were contemplating using for some contract negotiations, he and Cooper had known who she was to them.

Keiko was Japanese American and had moved between the two countries most of her life. Although Japanese was her first language, her English and, hell, even her Texas twang were damn near flawless. She was average height, but even with the three-inch heels she liked to wear, her head only came up to Logan’s shoulder. She wore her perfectly straight hair in this up-twist thing that left her delicate neck bare, and made him want to lean in and nibble on her. He had no idea how long it actually was, but there was certainly a lot of it. She always wore a skirt or suit, but no matter what she wore, nothing could hide the fact that she had a curvy figure designed to drive a man to distraction.

It had taken all his control to keep the meeting on track that day and not make a complete ass of himself. As soon as they had left the office, they started plotting to get their mate working for them, then how to make her to fall in love with them. The first part of the plan was fairly easy to achieve, but the latter was taking longer than he would have liked.

Logan and Cooper grabbed the private elevator they had in their office and rode it down to the parking garage. They jumped into their Range Rover with the tinted windows and Logan drove them quickly out of the building and headed for the bus stop.

“What do you think Keiko would say if she knew that at least one of us has followed her bus home and waited until she was inside her apartment every night for the past eighteen months?” Cooper asked.

Logan thought about that for a moment before smiling. “I don’t know what the actual words would be, but I can tell you she wouldn’t be happy. Our mate is definitely independent and would not take too kindly to us stalking her home each night.”

Cooper laughed, then sat forward in his seat, peering out the window. “That’s her bus. We made it just in time.” Logan put on his turn signal to change lanes and moved in behind the bus. As they moved past the bus stop, a flash of white caught his eye. He slammed on the brakes, ignored the angry beeping of horns that exploded around them, and turned the wheel hard to shudder to a stop at the curb just up from the bus stop.

“Jesus Christ!” Cooper yelled as his arm shot out to grip the dashboard. “What the fuck are you trying to do?” Logan released his seat belt and angled the side mirror on the vehicle so he could see the bus stop clearer, and, sure enough, sitting at the far end of the bench seat, huddled in the white linen jacket he and Cooper had brought her last Christmas, sat their mate.

“Keiko,” was all Logan said as he opened his door and stepped down to the sidewalk. He heard Cooper doing the same on the f
ar side, but his gaze never left their woman. Keiko sat completely still. She looked pale and shaken, staring at the ground, completely oblivious to the world around her. As he got closer, he saw that she gripped her cell phone in her hand.

Logan walked in front of Keiko then hunkered down before her. His alarm grew when she didn’t even flinch or acknowledge his presence. He shared a look of concern with his brother as Cooper sat beside her and placed his arm around her shoulder.

“Keiko, are you all right?” Logan asked gently as he reached out and took her free hand in his. Her skin was cold to the touch and Logan frowned at the slight trembling he felt. “Baby, can you hear me?” Keiko blinked a couple of times as if clearing her vision. “That’s it, babe, come back to us.” Logan took her hand between the two of his and started rubbing it in an attempt to get it warm.

“Logan?” Keiko’s voice was small and she sounded lost. She lifted her head and looked at him in confusion. “What…what are you doing here?”

“We were driving past and saw you sitting here all alone,” Cooper answered for them and moved closer to her. “We thought we’d stop and see if you needed a lift.” Cooper had always been the more creative of the pair.

Logan reached out and smoothed a stray strand of silken hair from her face and used the move as an excuse to cup her soft cheek. He felt his heart swell when she pressed into his hand and reached her own hand up to cover his. “You were sitting here so still and didn’t even see us when we got to you. What’s happened, baby? Is everything okay?”
