I knew there was a fine line between pride and confidence, but in this case, it was warranted. In the scheme of things, this was a young Destroyer, younger than me.
“You can’t make two people fall in love, it’s against the rules.”
“Since when does any Destroyer care about the rules? Besides, I didn’t make them fall in love, it was already written they would. I simply used the negative you created to bring them together, I’ve been working on it for years. There was no way we were going to allow a psychic of that strength to fall into your hands.”
“There’s more out there, we’ll find another.”
“Good luck.” I’d had enough and leaned over the scum. “Listen here, we plan centuries in advance for any attack you could ever throw our way. Your time on this planet is coming to an end.”
It smiled at me. “If that were the case, why is violence increasing? Day by day we see more. No, your time is coming to an end.”
“It’s true, we are losing some battles, but the war, the war we will win. You might want to review your history so you know what’s coming.” I turned around and walked out of the forest, leaving him there in the temporary prison I had built to hold him while Esmerelda and Dominic figured out what they needed to do in order to send them over to our side.
Looking up at the moon, I knew what was coming and knew not everyone was going to end up making it out alive. We were running out of time to build our army to save the human race.
