Xore hadn’t helped matters when he’d come in only minutes after their birth and declared them gorgeous. He’d slapped Lucian on the back. “I don’t envy you, buddy, teenage years and adulthood is gonna suck. I wonder if being Lucifer will scare all the boys away.”
Poor Lucian had turned a deathly white as he gazed down at the girls and growled, “There will be no live boys near my girls.”
Xore had just laughed and winked at her before he came over to the girls and leaned down, whispering, “Don’t worry. Uncle Xore will make sure you get to have fun.” Lucian had thrown Xore out of the room.
Teagan and Sofia already had their daddy wrapped around their tiny fingers. They so much as made a sound and he had them in his arms, offering them the world.
The twins were now two weeks old, and they hadn’t taken the babies out of the house. Lucian was worried they would bite someone, and Tessa hated to admit he was right. Teagan and Sofia bit and tried to drink the blood of everyone who had held them, bar hers. She thought it was funny especially when they bit Balthazar. It was odd, like they knew not to drink Mummy’s blood. They drank milk from her, but didn’t bite her. Tessa had been worried they would at first, but Lucian assured her they knew who she was and what they could and couldn’t do to her.
Their uncles adored them and weren’t much better than Lucian with how they treated them. Tessa worried that when they got older they would really be the meaning of the human term devil as they’d get away with anything.
“Morning, kitten. How are my two little devils?” Lucian came into the nursery and pressed his lips to hers before kissing the twins foreheads.
“Good. Hungry. What have you been up to this morning?”
“I’ve been putting the finishing touches on the new foundation that will help the fault… er, vision-impaired and blind people.”
Smiling up at her husband, Tessa felt her heart swell with love. Lucian was amazing. She was so lucky to have him. She’d been blessed. “You’re amazing, you know that, right?”
Lucian leaned down and brushed his lips over hers. “I love you, too. Let me take these two and you can go have a rest.”
She was the luckiest woman in world. As she smiled up at Lucian, Tessa knew she wouldn’t change him or her life for anything.
