Any time between 4:15 and 10:30 P.M.
After-hours trading. Today, the fight never stops. Markets move around the globe like the sun. The main ones in the United States are open from 9:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., but there are after-hours markets for just about everything; bonds, stocks, futures. The S&Ps, which are my bread and butter, trade forever. The S&P pit on the Merc closes at 4:15, but then it reopens on a computer system called GLOBEX at 4:45. GLOBEX trades all through the night until 9:15 the next morning, and then the Merc pit opens up at 9:30. That means that there are only forty-five minutes a day when you can’t trade the S&P futures. To help produce more volume, GLOBEX now opens at 6:30 Sunday night. Today the exchanges are just like casinos. They want you playing around the clock. These extended hours can make you old in a hurry
10:30 P.M.
Lights out. Pillow talk.
Audrey: Buzzy, how’d you do today?
Me: Okay, but I should’ve done better.
Audrey: All traders are the same. You want to buy at the low, sell at the high, do it three times as large, and quit at the top.
Me: Yeah, absolutely.
