“Better. Are you going to answer my question?” I ask, keeping my eyes closed.
Something fluffy touches my eyes and rubs against my cheeks. I yank it down, opening my eyes, and capture her mouth with mine. I run my fingers through her hair, and she pulls me out of the bathroom. We hit the couch, and she gasps. “Why are you here?”
“I go to the University of Pennsylvania.”
Her eyes widen. “Really? What about Hailey and Michigan State?”
“It’s fine. Hailey’s taking a semester off school. Her grades slipped after the whole Darren shitstorm, so she’s back home in Nashville. She might transfer here once I get settled.”
“But why here?”
I roll my eyes. “Do I have to spell it out for you?”
“Yes. I don’t know if you’ve met me, but I’m a little dense when it comes to love.”
I smile. “I love you, Madison Lynn Issac. You’re the only girl for me, and you have something of mine. You’re carrying it with you right now.” I lift up her wrist and point at the heart on the charm bracelet I gave her. “I promise, no matter what happens, I’m here for you. Always.”
She kisses me hard and pushes me back against the couch. Her lips leave mine and trail sweet kisses up my jaw to my ear. “Bryce, I don’t want anyone but you.” And those words are exactly what I wanted to hear.
