Author’s Note for Shotgun, Wedding, Bells
In each of my books, I ponder a social issue, hoping to educate myself and my readers. For Shotgun, Wedding, Bells, I researched the world of strippers, or as they prefer to be called, “dancers.”
Many years ago, my husband took a credit application for a new piano from a young couple who were shopping with the man’s parents. When it came time to fill in the application, the couple asked if they could speak to David privately in his office. There they explained that the man had an office job and made a fair salary, but the woman was an exotic dancer and pulled down six figures! The young man’s family was not aware of how their daughter-in-law earned her income. That piqued my interest.
I was surprised to read about the varied background of dancers, the work expenses levied on them, and other small tidbits. If you, too, are curious, I suggest you read Strip City: A Stripper's Farewell Journey Across America by Lily Burana.

P.S. If you enjoyed this book, I hope you’ll consider writing a review and posting it on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, or Goodreads. In today’s crowded marketplace, more and more of us turn to reviews to make purchasing decisions. (I know I always read all the reviews before I buy. Even the bad ones, because they are enlightening.) Your opinion matters. In addition, I read reviews to get a better understanding of what you, my readers, like and enjoy. So…thanks in advance.
P.P.S. I’d like to introduce you to a few of my author friends. Go to http://bit.ly/2HH, and you’ll be able to download a copy of Happy Homicides 2: Crimes of the Heart absolutely free. It’s a collection of short mysteries by a variety of authors.
