  Chapter Sixteen

  Mackenzie

I answer him by moaning around his cock, my mouth stretched. His bossy, demanding ways would normally annoy me, but they seem to be having the opposite effect right now. My whole body throbs with need with each command he gives me.

More than anything, I have this overwhelming desire for him to come in my mouth. The thought of giving him the same pleasure he’s given me at least a half dozen times has me doubling down on my efforts. I take him deeper into my mouth, hoping that what I’m doing feels good to him. Based on the sounds he’s making, I’d say he’s enjoying himself. The need to please him rides me hard.

Cum leaks into my mouth, and I suck harder, wanting more. He reaches up to grip my hair. He wraps it around his hand and pulls my head back so that I’m looking up at him as he thrusts in and out of my mouth. I watch him to make sure I’m doing this right. I might not have any idea of what I’m doing beyond listening to the girls talk about blow jobs, but I want this. No, I need this.

Each second I was away from him all I wanted to do was get back to him. I whimper when he pulls at one of my nipples. A flood of heat soaks my panties. More of his salty sweet taste fills my mouth. I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life. I never even thought I would enjoy giving a blow job by the way the other girls spoke about them. Maybe it’s his reaction to having my mouth on him that’s making it this way for me.

I can tell he’s getting off on each sound of pleasure that leaves me. He’s being bossy and demanding, but his real need is not to get himself off. It’s to give me pleasure. The same way he has this entire time. He’s reading me. Understanding things about me that I haven't even grasped.

“Darling.” He gives a slight pull on my hair when I take him all the way to the back of my throat. “You’re trying to unman me.” I release him from my mouth.

“I am a Vieth Orphan,” I remind him. I don’t know why I choose to say that, but I watch for his reaction. I think my comment is going to piss him off by the way his eyes flare. I try to take him into my mouth again, but he doesn’t let me.

“The best, it seems. Come and sit on the throne you are trying to claim.” I don’t understand what he means at first.

He grabs me, lifting me as he carries us back into his bedroom. He sits me down, pulling the rest of my clothes from my body before tossing me onto the bed. He comes down next to me.

“Up,” he orders, slapping my ass. “Get on your knees, turn around, spread those pretty thighs for me, and grab the headboard.” I start to move but let out a small scream as he moves me easily. My hands come down on the top of the headboard. I wait patiently as he slides his head between my thighs. I straddle his face to sit upon his mouth.

  My throne.

His words from before finally make sense.

“Sov.” I moan his name as his mouth starts to devour me. His fingers dig into my ass as he moves me over his face and buries himself there. The first orgasm hits me hard. I grip the headboard, my head falling back as I scream his name. He drinks down every drop and goes back for more. He doesn’t stop until my legs are shaking and my body goes limp with exhaustion. Black spots dance before my eyes. He’s trying to kill me. I think this whole thing might be backwards, and he’s the one that’s been sent to seduce me.

He moves us again. I feel the soft mattress against my back as he comes over the top of me. I can feel the weight of his hard cock pressing up against my sex. My hips lift of their own accord, needing to be closer to him.

His mouth comes down onto mine. He might be the one giving the orders, but I can taste my claim to him on my lips.

“Open those eyes, darling.” His mouth trails down my jaw to my throat, where he gives me a nip next to his necklace that hasn’t left me since he placed it on me. I open them. He lifts his head to stare down at me as his cock starts to press inside of me.

I gasp at the fullness of only the head of his cock. My nails dig into his shoulders as I wrap myself around him.

“I’m sorry,” he says before he pushes all the way inside of me. The words sound foreign coming from his lips. A small scream leaves me. A mixture of pain and something else fills me. “Mackenzie.” He groans my name. His forehead drops to mine, and his warm breath tickles my lips. “Eyes, darling, please,” he pleads, sounding as if he were the one in pain.

When I open my eyes to meet his, I understand the feeling I couldn't place. Connected. That’s the word I was searching for. Connected on a level I’ve never been with another person. Sharing a closeness unlike any other. As with everything with Sov, I want more of it.

“More,” I say as my sex clenches around his cock. He lets out another deep groan, giving me what I want. The pain fades away as a new sensation of pleasure begins to build.

“Mackenzie. Darling.” Sov’s body is tight as he fights not to come. I lift my mouth, taking his, and I nip at his lip as I feel another orgasm start to press down on me. He lets out another one of those deep growls that rumble throughout his whole body.

It triggers my orgasm, and I come. I can’t hear my own cries of pleasure over his grunts and my name coming from him like a prayer. His warm release spills inside of me, filling the deepest parts of me as he steals the rest of my heart.

I can only pray he doesn't break it.

  Chapter Seventeen

  Sov

“I trust your business here in the city has gone smoothly?” Karin Vieth says over the top of her teacup.

“Yes.” I don’t feel the need for elaboration. There’s no need for me to add details to whatever Vieth is able to ferret out through her web of spies. She arrived at my suite of rooms unannounced while Mackenzie was away “working”. I’d prefer if Mackenzie stay shackled nude to my bed, but she was adamant about fulfilling her duties.

“People depend on me,” she had said in a serious voice. I kissed her lightly and replied that I depended on her, too, but in the end, I let her go. Zero followed her. He’s come to realize that keeping her safe is more important than guarding my body. If something happened to her, no one on my staff would rest well again.

“I’ve heard you are spending time with one of my girls.”

  “Yes.”

  “Nothing more to add?”

“I’m certain the data that you receive inside the walls of the Palace is as accurate as if you had witnessed each transaction and participated in every conversation.”

The older woman smiles. “You would be correct. Mackenzie is a nice girl, though. Different than the rest of my girls. She might not be used to the things that you prefer.”

“You make me sound like a deviant, Karin.” I slide a box across the coffee table. “But please accept this gift as a small token of my gratitude for your hospitality.”

I knew I would have to pay Karin for Mackenzie. No one can take a Vieth without leaving something of value in return, and since I don’t care to give up a person or a pound of my own flesh, a handful of priceless diamonds will have to suffice.

Karin trades her teacup for the box. The diamonds cast glittering reflections on her face. “Very nice.”

“No amount of gems can equal the value of a person, but I would hope that this small token would ease the sting of losing one of your subjects.”

“You plan to take her then? Is she aware of this?”

What an odd question. As if Mackenzie would want to remain here and not come with me. I search Karin’s face for further clues. Is she saying this to stir up doubt or does she know something I do not?

“Your territory is not the only welcome place,” I answer.

Karin shrugs and gets to her feet. “It is not me you have to convince. The tea and desserts were lovely. As for this”—she raises the box of diamonds—“I’ll put it away for safe keeping. Come and get it when things don’t work out with Mackenzie. Minus a small fee, you may have the entirety of it in return.”

It’s a wonder that Karin Vieth is still alive. There must be so many who would love to
have stuck a knife through her cold heart.

After she leaves, I summon a guard to take me to Zero, who is at a warehouse not far from the Palace. He snaps to attention when I arrive.

  “Is she here?”

“Yes. She arrived at 0900 hours and has not left.”

I check the time. It’s past lunch. “Has she eaten?”

  “No, sir.”

“Send someone for lunch. An assortment.”

  “Yes, sir.”

I knock on the door and then enter without waiting for a response. Mackenzie whirls around.

“God, you scared me.” She clasps a hand to her heart. She quickly closes the windows on her monitor and smiles up at me.

“It’s past lunch, and Zero said you have not eaten.”

“Oh. I didn’t realize. Sometimes I get caught up in my work.”

“What is it that you do?” She talks about this work a lot as if it is important to her.

“I manage part of the books. Not all of it because Karin doesn’t like one person in charge of all of the money, but I do some portion, and there are a couple of others like me who handle different branches of the Vieth business. I wouldn’t be able to do it all by myself anyway.”

“Interesting.” I wonder what job I can create at home for Mackenzie as this work seems important to her. “I’ve come to talk to you about leaving.”

“Oh?” She says it lightly as she turns away toward her large monitor. “So soon? I suppose the party is over, and you delivered the little girl to her grandmother, so you don’t have any reason to be here anymore.”

“You’re correct. There’s no reason to be here.” Zero walks in with the food. I take it from him and lay out the banquet on the desk. There’s fried chicken, pasta, pad Thai, and soup, but Mackenzie doesn’t make any moves to serve herself. Perhaps she needs to be waited on.

I prepare a plate for her and lay it in front of her. “I would like to leave in three days. That should give you enough time to pass your duties on to someone else, yes?”

“What are you talking about? I can’t leave here. This is my home.”

“If you are concerned with what Karin may say, I have worked it all out with her.”

“You told Karin I was leaving?” Mackenzie sounds shocked and alarmed. This conversation is not going as I thought it would, which befuddles me.

“Did you desire to be left behind? That would not be acceptable.” I reach out to cup her chin and bring her face around so that she and I can look each other in the face. I do not like talking to her profile. “I have had you, Mackenzie. You are mine now, and where I go, you must go as well.”

She twists out of my grip. “We had sex. That’s all. I am sure you have slept with all kinds of women all over the world.”

I jerk back at this accusation. “I’m Sov Charmont. I do not spend my seed in random women’s bodies. I have chosen you and you alone. You may very well be carrying the next Charmont, so it does not matter to me if you do not wish to leave. You are leaving if I have to take you by force.”

Sov’s pushy ways might do it for me in the bedroom, but this is entirely different. I don’t appreciate him expecting me to do as he commands outside of the bedroom. He wants me to give up everything for him. What is he willing to give up for me?

Even his comments about Karin only make me angrier. Would she so easily let me go? I’m torn about how I feel about that. I don’t want to feel trapped here. I never have in the past, but I’d like to think it wouldn't be so easy for them to part ways with me. Everything about the last couple of minutes sends my thoughts into a tailspin. And has me questioning if I truly belong anywhere.

“You’d never make it out alive, Sov. You don’t rule here,” I point out. We’re in one of Karin’s warehouses. I was actually a little surprised they’d let him in, but this isn't one of the main ones. How had this started off so sweet with him bringing me lunch? It turned so quickly.

“Would you like to test that theory?” he challenges.

“No.” I take a step back from him. I don’t want anyone to get hurt. My mind is already spinning, and now Sov has gone and tossed out the idea of me being pregnant. How had I not thought about that? It only goes to show how inexperienced I am in all of this. In life in general.

“Don’t back away from me,” he growls, not used to being denied anything. If he can’t learn to compromise or even try to, we’ll never make it.

“You’re being a spoiled brat, and a child is not a bargaining tool.” I hiss the last part. That hit a little too close to home for my liking. My father tried to use me as a pawn. Karin had saved me. Gave me a different life where I could choose what I wanted to do and not have things forced on me.

She also gave me a family. It might not have been by blood, but most of these girls are like sisters to me. It hurts to think of leaving them, but it hurts more that Sov can’t see that about me. That the only person he thought of when he came up with his plan was himself. That he hadn’t even considered asking me if I wanted to go with him. He thought it was okay to make the decision for me.

“I think you’re the one acting like a child. You know we’re meant to be together. You’ll be my queen.” I can tell he’s trying to keep his anger in check. He’s not the only one. While I might be mild-mannered most of the time, I don’t appreciate being backed into a corner.

“You don’t really know me,” I admit. I’m surprised that more about me hasn’t come out since Sov and I have hit a few gossip blogs, but Karin did her best long ago to erase my past. To give me true freedom from the binds of my father and the filth that came from his name. What would the rest of Sov’s family think if they knew?

“I know what I need to know.” He closes the space I created. He can be such a confusing man. Or maybe I’m confusing myself. I enjoy some of the control he takes. It’s not only about the control; it’s also the part where he takes care of me while he does it. He always makes me feel as though it’s more about me than himself. Right now, I don’t think I could say the same.

  “I need time.”

“You don't,” he fires right back. “I’m already giving you three days.” He says it like that’s an eternity.

  “I think you should go.”

  “I’m warning you, Mackenzie.”

“I’m warning you too.” I stand up straighter, keeping my eyes locked with his. “You don’t even care for my kind. Tell me, did you try to buy me from Karin?” I ask. From the small jerk he gives, I know I hit the nail on the head. That one small movement feels like a punch to my gut.

“How much am I worth?” I say the words with disgust in my voice. “Answer me.” This time it’s me that issues an order to him.

“It wasn’t like that, darling.” He tries to step closer to me, but I skirt around the desk to keep some distance between us. The thought of Karin and Sov making a deal for me has tears springing to my eyes. The only thing I want right now is to be alone.

“I want you to leave,” I plead with him.

He moves suddenly, pulling me into him. His mouth crashes down onto mine. The kiss isn't sweet and soft. It’s one full of claiming and need. I melt into him, unable to help myself. No one has ever made me feel more needed than him. Still, I can’t just agree. If he had handled this differently, I think I could have, but I’m over being used. I need him to understand me more.

He releases my mouth, taking a step back from me.

“Three days, Mackenzie,” he grits out. He looks like he’s about to pounce on me again, but he jerks around and storms off, taking a piece of me with him.

I stare at the door that he just exited, having no clue what I am going to do. The idea of taking off for a few days pops into my mind. I’ve finished the work Karin asked me to and turned over everyone I thought was cheating us out of our share of their profits. I did what was asked of me. I always do. That’s another reason why Karin’s willingness to let me go so easily hurts.

I gather my things before shutting down my computer all the way. If Sov wants to be high handed, so can I.

I call his three days and raise him more.

  Chapter Nineteen

When have I ever waited for a woman? I scowl at the clock and then my blank phone screen. It’s been two days, and I’ve not heard from Mackenzie. Zero reports that she is keeping to the same routine of going to work and then returning at night to her condo. He is unable to get inside the building as it is wholly owned by Vieth, and Mackenzie must’ve placed some kind of ban on my men.

We are currently working on obtaining the floor plans and a method of entry. Service is always the weak area, but Vieth seems to have her own staff, which is causing a mild impediment. We will get around it.

I tap my fingers impatiently against the back of the chair in front of me as Parker measures me for my wedding attire. At least I’ll be prepared for this.

There’s a knock at the door, and then Josh appears. “There’s a bird outside that says she has information about Mackenzie for sale. Want me to send her away?”

“Did you ask what it was?”

“Can you raise your arms, sir?” Parker says, his mouth full of pins.

I do as he asks and wait for Josh to respond.

The man shakes his head. “She said she’s only talking to the head man in charge which I guess could be Zero, but I think she means you.”

  “Let her in, then.”

A girl who looks vaguely familiar stumbles in. She straightens and then walks toward me, moving her hips in an odd, gyrating fashion. Maybe she has some kind of infection. I grimace and back away.
