“I’ll take her to the cabin. You need to be here just in case the other hunters show up.”
“Ok.” I turned and walked away from Damien. “I’m going to my room,” I said over my shoulder.
When I walked into the kitchen, Rayne was sitting at the table in nothing but a towel eating an apple. “Want one?” she asked smiling.
“No thank you,” I replied, as I kept walking past her.
“Damien’s gorgeous, isn’t he?” she purred.
I stopped in my tracks. “Excuse me?”
“Damien…he’s gorgeous. Don’t you think so?”
I don’t know why she was asking me that, but I wasn’t about to tell her the truth. “He’s okay.” I lied.
“Oh, he’s more than okay.” Rayne stood and sauntered over to me. “Not only is he gorgeous, but he’s delicious as well. I tasted him earlier and let me just say he is like a fine wine…he gets better with age.”
Hearing this pissed me off. This bitch was trying to make me mad and it was working. I couldn’t let her know it though. “Well good for you,” I replied rolling my eyes.
Rayne started laughing in a wicked way. She turned away from me and walked over to the patio doors. Before she opened the door, she looked over her shoulder at me and said, “Damien is mine. Remember that.” Then she walked outside.
Instead of going to my room, I grabbed the keys to Damien’s mustang. When I got in it and started it, Damien came out from the patio. I put the mustang in reverse and backed up. He walked over to the car.
“What the hell are you doing in my car?” he questioned.
I put the car in drive, stuck my middle finger up at him, and put the pedal to the floor. Next thing I know, Damien is running beside the car. He opens the passenger door and hops in.
“What the fuck, Tori?” he screams.
I looked over at him and grinned. “Just going out for a drive.”
“She told you about tasting me! I can hear it in your thoughts. Stop the damn car Tori!”
I slammed on the brakes. I turned and looked Damien in the eyes. “What the hell Damien? You fuckin let her taste you! You fuck her, too?”
Damien narrowed his eyes. “Maybe. What’s it matter to you who I have sex with? You got Lucien!” he growled.
“I did not fuck him Damien!”
“You might as well have,” Damien hissed.
I opened the car door and got out. Damien was in front of me before I could blink. “Get out of my way!” I pushed him back.
“No! You aren’t running from this. I want to talk to you.”
I crossed my arms across my chest. “Fine! Talk then.”
“Tori, I heard you with Lucien and it made my blood boil. When Rayne contacted me, I was so damn mad at you. Things happened and I am sorry. But we aren’t in a relationship and you obviously like Lucien enough to let him do what he did. You’ve never let me go that far with you.”
“I don’t know what you want me to say to that. I like you and I am extremely attracted to you, but there’s something about Lucien that I can’t resist.”
Damien got close to me. “Don’t worry about what I do then!”
“Fine! I won’t!” I pushed Damien as hard as I could to get him out of my face. Then I ran. I couldn’t stand there and talk to him any longer. He wanted Rayne; he could have her ass.
Lucien was the only person I wanted to talk to. I ran across the mountains until I was near the area he lived. Thankfully, I hadn’t forgot my cell phone when I left Damien and Sebastian’s house. I tried to call Lucien, but he didn’t answer the phone. FUCK! I knew the general area of where he lived, so I walked up the holler until I saw a house with his truck in the driveway. When I walked onto his porch, I saw him standing in his living room talking to a girl with blonde hair. She looked to be around our age. The girl hugged Lucien and then kissed him.
“What the fuck?” I shouted.
Lucien heard me and broke free from kissing the blonde. He started walking towards the front door. “Tori…” he opened the door. “It’s not what it looks like.”
“Go to hell Lucien!” I screamed before I turned and ran away from him.
Chapter 20
Tori
After running from Lucien, I decided to go home. I needed the comfort of my own home away from men and their bullshit. As soon as I walked into my apartment, I flopped down on my bed and let my emotions out. I laid on my side and curled my knees to my chest and cried. Seeing Lucien with another girl tore me apart. We may not be officially dating, but we were pretty damn close to it. I let him in and allowed him to touch my body in ways no man has before.
On top of what just happened with Lucien, here I had this bracelet on my wrist that I couldn’t take off and it stopped me from using my telekinesis. My ability was the only thing that made me a badass vampyre. I fear for my life now. Learning to fight was essential now. Vampyres are strong, but if you don’t know how to fight you can be killed easily.
My phone ringing interrupted my sobbing. I pulled it free from my back pocket to see who it was. Samantha. “Hello,” I answered.
“Hey girl. What’cha up to?”
I rolled onto my back and let out a sigh. “Girl, it’s been crazy lately. Too much to go into over the phone. What you been up to?”
Samantha groaned, “I’ve been working and worrying about you. We’ve not talked since the party the other night.”
“I know…I’m sorry.”
I tried to explain to Samantha what had been going on without telling too much. Some things were better left untold. She was human and didn’t need to know everything that was happening. When we got off the phone, I curled back into the fetal position and continued crying.
I don’t know how long I had been laying there when I heard someone walking up the steps to my apartment and knock on the door. As much as I wanted to be alone, I got up and went to the door. When I opened it, Sebastian stood on the porch with his arms crossed smirking at me.
“Hello Beautiful,” he said, as he walked past me into the house.
“Who invited you into my apartment?” I was curious as to how he just stepped across the threshold.
Sebastian looked at me and grinned. “I came by the other day and compelled your step-dad to invited me in. After what happened with Travis, I didn’t want to be stuck outside if something happened while you were here.”
“Oh...okay.” Shutting the door, I asked, “What are you doing here?”
Sebastian sauntered over to me and place a hand on my face. “I came to see if you were okay. You didn’t return to the house.” He examined my face and frowned. “Come with me to the bathroom and let me clean you up, Love.”
I broke down even more and began crying. Sebastian wrapped me in his arms and held me tight. “Everything is falling apart,” I sobbed. “And I just caught Lucien kissing another girl.”
“I know it seems that way, but things are going to get better.” Sebastian picked me up and cradled me. He took me into my bathroom and sat me down on the toilet. “Let’s get you cleaned up and then I want you to pack your clothes.”
“Pack my clothes?” I asked looking up at him.
“Yes, I am getting you out of here for a while,” he answered, as he turned to wet a washcloth.
“Where are we going?”
Sebastian returned to me with a wet washcloth. He began rubbing my face with it. “It’s a surprise.”
After he helped me get cleaned up, he went home to pack. I still had most of my things at my apartment, so I grabbed my suitcase and began throwing things in there. There were a few things at their house that I needed, so I sent Sebastian a message telling him to bring them. While I was packing, Lucien tried to call me. I hit ignore and sent him a message telling him to fuck off. He was the last person I wanted to talk to right now.
When my suitcase was full, I zipped it up and took it into the kitchen. As I turned to go back into my bedroom, a loud bang rang my ears. Then Lucien’s scent filled the apar
tment. Reluctantly, I went to the door and opened it. Lucien stood on the porch with his shoulders slumped. His eyes appeared to be swollen.
“I thought I told you to fuck off!” I hollered cutting my eyes at him.
“Please let me explain, Tori.”
I motioned for Lucien to come in. He stepped in and I shut the door behind him. “Lucien, I walked up to your front door and saw you kiss another girl. What the fuck is there to explain?” I crossed my arms across my chest.
Lucien stepped close to me and looked down into my eyes. A tear slipped from his eye and slowly ran down his cheek. “She’s my ex-girlfriend. She came by trying to get me to take her back. What you saw was her kissing me, not me kissing her.”
I laughed. “You didn’t seem to mind.”
“It may have looked that way, but I promise you I did not want her to kiss me. I am done with her. I want you, Tori.” Lucien wrapped his arms around me and hugged me. “Please don’t be mad at me.”
For just a few seconds, I relished in his scent and warm hold. I care deeply for Lucien and want to be his more than anything. Pushing him back, I looked up into his beautiful eyes. “I’m not mad; I’m hurt.” I stepped back. “Please just give me some space.”
Suddenly, my front door flung open. I felt a force toss me to the side. Sebastian tackled Lucien. He had Lucien by the throat hissing at him. “Leave her alone dog!”
Lucien growled loudly and turned into his wolf form right under Sebastian. Sebastian jumped up and stood in front of me. Lucien stood tall bearing his canines at Sebastian.
“Stop!” I screamed from behind Sebastian. Walking around him, I looked at them both. “That’s enough guys.” I glared at Lucien. “Leave! I will contact you when I am ready to talk.” Though he was in his wolf form, he understood everything I said. He lowered his head and made a whimpering sound. Then he walked out onto the porch. He turned his head and looked at me. I could see the hurt in his eyes. Then he took off running.
I grabbed my suitcase. “Let’s go,” I said over my shoulder as I walked out the door.
When we got to his car, Sebastian opened the passenger door for me. “Are you ready to explore the world?” he asked reaching for my hand.
“Hell yes, I am!” I answered happily.
