When we’d toured around a while longer, I docked the boat and escorted Sierra up onto the pier and back to our building. Louis’ car was gone, which I could only imagine was a deliberate move on his part to give us some privacy. Under my breath, I thanked and cursed him at the same time as Sierra and I slipped in through the back door.
“I suppose I should get back to town,” she said, combing a nervous hand through her long blond waves.
“I can take you later,” I told her, “if you can wait.”
“I’m not sure it’s a good idea for me to hang out here,” she said, eyeing the couch on the far side of the room. “It might be…difficult.”
“Okay. Well, there’s not much a of a cell signal out here, but there’s a land-line if you want to call a cab to pick you up at the end of the lane,” I told her, gesturing to the ancient rotary phone on my desk.
She nodded, her jaw set in a determined frown, and reached for it. But just as her hand grasped the receiver, I breathed the word Stop and wrapped my fingers around her wrist.
“What are you doing?” she asked, pulling her face up to look into my eyes.
Instead of replying I slipped in front of her, sweeping an arm around her waist, and pulled her close. Inhaling her scent, I tucked my face down into her neck to slide my lips along her skin.
“Do you still want me?” I whispered even as I heard a quick gasp escape her lips.
“You know I do,” she breathed.
“Say it. I want to hear you say it again. Tell me.”
“I fucking want you, Trick. Right here. Right now.”
Chapter 3
Sierra
As soon as I’d said the words, Trick swept a massive arm over his desk, clearing everything off onto the floor—including a half-full coffee mug, which shattered into big chunky pieces, spraying its contents all over the place.
“I’ve only ever seen people do that move in movies,” I said, letting out a laugh as I leapt out of the way of the puddle that had formed at my feet.
“Blondie, this is no movie,” Trick growled.
“No, it isn’t, but…”
He interrupted by lifting me onto the desk’s bare surface, pushing forward so my knees parted to welcome his hips. His fingers fumbled with my delicate buttons, but somehow he managed to undo my blouse and yank it off my shoulders, laying it beside me on the desk.
“Fuck,” he snarled, staring down at my bra. “It is lace.”
When he eased down and fluttered his tongue over my right nipple through the delicate fabric, my thighs tightened around him, my hips jolting forward in some sort of sexual surrender. I let out a hard, hungry sigh and arched my back, moaning for more.
He reached behind me, unclasping my bra then slipping it off to lay it on top of my blouse. Cupping my breasts possessively, he ran his thumbs over my nipples, sending a hard, immediate blast of pleasure to my core.
“Isn’t Louis going to come in?” I moaned as Trick drew the tip of my left nipple into his mouth, teasing me with rapid flicks of his tongue.
“Don’t worry about him,” he said. “He won’t come near this place if he knows we’re…occupied.”
“How would he know? I asked, glancing around to see if there were security cameras in the corners of the room. But all I saw was peeling paint and old cobwebs.
“Louis just knows,” Trick replied as he snapped open my pants, unzipped them, and tucked his hand down my panties until his middle finger found the sensitive nub that was so eager for his touch. He pressed his face forward and sealed his mouth over mine, his tongue lashing at my own as it had done to my nipple. Once again, I was drunk on a dream, my head a sea of fantasies coming to life.
This man really was magic. I could only hope he wasn’t about to disappear again.
“You’re so wet,” Trick said when he’d drawn his head back, a mischievous, crooked smile floating over his lips. “So wet for me, blondie.”
“You do that to me,” I replied. “In case you hadn’t noticed.”
He dropped to his knees, yanking my pants off the rest of the way and slipping his fingers over my slick opening then dipping them inside as if to let me know what pleasures were yet to come. When he’d pulled out he jammed his tongue inside me, fingers grasping my hips and drawing my body closer. I as I reveled in the sensation of his tongue penetrating me, over and over again. The feeling that he was as enthralled with my body as I was with what he did to it.
I reached down, grabbing a handful of his t-shirt, and pulled him up again to taste myself on his mouth. He licked his tongue over my lower lip, nipping me gently before sinking in for a deep, luxuriating kiss.
Reaching down, I managed to undo his belt and flick his button open. I slid his fly down and wrapped my hand around the hot shaft that was jutting out the top of his boxers. God, he was so thick and swollen. My pussy was throbbing for him now, an agonizing, sharp torment of erotic need filling me from head to toe.
Trick pulled back and narrowed his eyes at me. They’d changed again, this time to some unbelievable aqua color that looked almost unreal.
“Who are you, Patrick?” I asked in a tight voice as I stared in wonder at his perfect face. “What are you?”
“I’m something that’s not supposed to exist,” he replied in a fierce, low growl. “I’m someone who shouldn’t be allowed to walk the earth.”
“But you’re real,” I moaned, terrified suddenly that he might disappear. “You’re real, right?”
He nodded, slipping down to his knees again, drawing my thighs around his shoulders. Without another word, he began to lap at my sex, determined to show me just how real he was.
He nuzzled my throbbing clit with his nose, his lips, his tongue, knowing exactly how much I could take and pulling away just when the rolling waves of my orgasm threatened to hit.
I probably should have stopped him. I should have warned him again that Louis would come charging in, or that this was a terrible idea, given the previous night’s drama. But a force far more powerful than common sense had taken over my mind, and apparently it had taken over Trick’s, too. Everything we were doing, living, breathing, was consumed by raw lust now. All we wanted—all we cared about—was this moment and each other’s pleasure.
All I knew was the sensation of this man’s mouth on me, the sweet anticipation of how his cock would feel slipping into my hungry channel, driving in pounding waves until he exploded his raw heat inside me.
Nothing else in the entire world mattered.
When Trick came up for air, kissing his way up my stomach, I slipped forward and off the desk, landing on my feet, and fell to my knees in front of him. “My turn,” I said.
Pulling his jeans and boxers down to his knees, I fisted his hard-on, my tongue swirling over the swollen head.
He was bigger in every way than any man I’d ever met, so it shouldn’t have shocked me that his cock felt so massive between my lips. I almost wanted to laugh when I realized that I couldn’t even get my fingers fully around his shaft, or that even with both hands wrapped around him, there would have been plenty of length left to satisfy any woman.
Delighted, I stroked him from root to tip, my lips sucking teasingly as I cleaned off the droplets of clear liquid that had formed with his arousal.
“You’ll be the death of me,” he breathed, pressing a hand up to the low, slanted part of the ceiling to balance himself.
“With a cock like this, I think you’ll actually be the death of me,” I said, rising to my feet, pushing myself back onto the desk and parting my thighs. I reached for his hands and pulled him forward until he was all but piercing me. “Don’t think about it,” I said. “Just do it.”
He wrapped his fingers around the edges of the desk on either side of me, his eyes narrowing, his jawbone shifting as though he was fighting some inner turmoil, and he sheathed himself hard. I fell back, letting out a primal howl as I felt my body tear in two in the most erotic way.
“You okay?” he asked, his voic
e thick, rasping as he drew his hips back.
“I’m so much better than okay,” I replied, reaching out and encouraging him to thrust deep.
He slowly pulled out, my body taking stock of every marbled vein of his shaft, every inch of him, and he pressed his thumb into my clit with a gentle touch, swirling a tiny, tantalizing circle before ramming himself inside me again. Another cry escaped my lips, and all I could think was that no matter how far away Louis was, he could probably hear me…as could all the wildlife in the bayou.
Trick repeated the motion over and over again, always bringing me closer to the edge of ecstasy, until he felt my channel clench hard around him. Even as my orgasm fully assaulted me, he began to thrust rhythmically, accelerating as the violent pulses of my pleasure drew him in. I watched his face, pained, tormented, delighted as he pushed his body over the edge and exploded hot seed inside me with a pulsing blast, driving his dick deep one final time.
He collapsed over me, taking care not to put all his substantial weight on my torso, and kissed my neck. I shut my eyes, my mind taking in a sensation of oneness that had begun to flood through my veins. Right now, in this second, we were connected on a deeper level than I’d ever been with any man.
But that sensation was shattered when he muttered, “I shouldn’t have…” against my skin.
“Stop,” I said. “Don’t you dare express regret right now, not while you’re still inside me.”
He pulled up, reached behind my back and pulled me to him, somehow managing to bury himself still deeper as my legs wrapped around his bare hips.
“I was going to say I shouldn’t have waited until today to do that,” he said. “I should have kept you with me last night. I should have spent all day in bed with you.”
“Oh,” I replied with a smile. “That’s better.”
“Forgive me?”
I nodded. “After what you just did? You bet I do.”
He laughed.
“Now we just have to figure out where the hell we go from here.”
Chapter 4
Trick
“I don’t suppose you’re free tonight,” Sierra said as she pulled her pants on. “I really do want to go hear some live music, and some company would be nice.” As she straightened up, she shot me a look filled with desire. “Especially yours.”
Damn, she looked so good standing there in nothing but a pair of beige pants and that sexy, almost see-through bra. Her nipples were so pretty, so inviting. Tight, ripe berries, begging for my lips all over again. Her body was a perfect, soft hourglass, all silk and smoothness, her waist curving out to a pair of hips that begged to be grabbed by a pair of strong hands.
Remembering that she’d asked me a question, I shook my head. “I’ve got some work to do,” I said, pulling her close to land a lingering kiss on her lips before sliding down to kiss the full, round curve of each of her breasts. “I’ve got to do some…preparation.” More kisses, this time peppering her stomach as my hands moved around to cup her perfect ass, my nose inhaling in a whiff of her intoxicating scent.
I could do this all day and all night.
“Preparation?” she asked, her voice strained with something that sounded an awful lot like renewed desire. “For what?”
“Let’s just call it a local election,” I told her, rising to my feet and slipping my fingers into her hair to push it behind her left ear. “Which is somewhat different from the local erection you’re giving me right now.”
“You’re running for office?” She asked with a knowing smile, pulling the rest of her golden hair back and twisting it into a knot on top of her head before pulling her bra and blouse on.
“Something like that, yeah.” Only this office involves fangs, fur, and the occasional fight to the death.
“Huh,” she replied. “Well, I suppose if you win, you can eventually run for re-erection.”
“I don’t think there’s any question who would win that race,” I said.
After that, though, we both went silent, like we’d come to some sort of verbal impasse. I didn’t want to divulge any more about the true nature of my plans, and clearly she didn’t want to ask.
But when she’d finished buttoning up, she was the first to speak again. “Does this election of yours have something to do with the Alpha business?”
As soon as my ears registered the A-word, my heart skipped a beat in my chest, my wolf springing to life inside me.
The human knows, he growled.
No, I don’t think she does. Not exactly.
“What do you mean?” I asked nonchalantly, grabbing a messy stack of papers from the floor and tidying them into a pile on top of my bare desk.
“I heard you saying something about Alphas to the woman in the cemetery last night…” Sierra said, forcing her eyes to mine in a sort of quiet challenge, like she might be able to read the truth on my face.
“Oh, you mean when you totally, definitely weren’t eavesdropping on my private conversation?” I asked.
She flushed. “Okay, fine. I’ve just incriminated myself. I was trying to figure out why you’d been going on about Alphas. It’s just that I hate that word. Too many guys use it as an excuse to be dickheads and treat women like garbage.”
“That’s not what it means when I use it,” I said, even as my wolf’s agitation increased inside me.
“Then tell me, what does it mean to you?”
I stared at her for a few seconds, grinding my jaw. “If you care at all about my well-being, you won’t ask that question again,” I said, my voice a little more confrontational than I’d intended. Stupid wolf was getting hostile now, trying just a little too hard to protect our secrets.
“Whoa. Okay, I get it,” Sierra laughed, holding up her hands in surrender. “I figured out last night that there were some things you don’t want me knowing about. I guess I was sort of hoping you might be a little more willing to communicate in the light of day—not to mention after what we just did. But I guess I was wrong.” Her voice, too, was going hostile.
“It’s not really a question of want,” I told her, my tone softening as I gained control over my inner animal. “It’s what I can and can’t afford to have you know. Look, there are a million reasons...”
She glared at me, an adorable, fierce vertical line forming between her eyebrows. I could all but feel her frustration on the air as she tried in vain to figure me out.
It seemed that after our impromptu sexual extravaganza, she was only now beginning to realize that she had no idea who I actually was.
You don’t want to know, blondie. Trust me on that one.
“Anyhow, I think I’ll head out to a bar tonight,” she finally said, apparently prepared to leave the topic alone. She glanced around the office at the mess we’d made. The floor was covered in papers, spilled coffee, and chunks of my cheap ceramic coffee mug. “Do you have something to write with?” she asked. “I’ll give you my number and you can text me if you suddenly realize you’re free and bored and that you’d rather focus on erections than elections.”
I couldn’t help but smile as I gestured towards a pen on Louis’ work table. “You’re a confident lady, aren’t you?” I asked. “Last night, you were lecturing me about being the kind of guy who was only into one-night stands, and now you seem pretty sure I’m going to come hunt you down for a second go in one day.”
She shrugged. “I know a good thing when I see it,” she said. “Now that I’ve auditioned you, I’m all for making our one-night stand a two-nighter. You’re very talented, Patrick.” She slipped forward with a wink and put her hands around my neck, lifting her chin to look into my eyes. “You’re an impressive man, in many, many ways. You definitely have my vote for whatever the hell it is you’re running for.”
“Thanks.”
Just then, the front door opened, and Louis peeked his head inside. “Is it safe to come in or are you two…commiserating?” he asked.
Flushing bright red, Sierra leapt backwards while I let out a low
chuckle. Of course, she would have no idea that he was perfectly aware of every move, every lick, every kiss that we’d shared. She probably would have died of mortification if she found out just how sensitive his nose really was. The embarrassing truth was that with his heightened senses, Louis may as well have had a whole camera crew set up to film us from every incriminating angle, streaming a live feed straight into his brain.
“All clear. Come on in, Lou,” I said. “Listen, I have some work to do around here. Do you think you could drive Sierra into town?”
“It would be my pleasure,” he replied, smiling at our guest. I looked over at her to make sure she was okay with the plan, but she didn’t look overly disappointed. And who could blame her? Everybody loved Louis. He was the opposite of me in almost every way. Warm, approachable, not to mention honest. He was an open book who would have loved nothing more than to explain to Sierra exactly what he and I were.
I, on the other hand, was a closed book, complete with a padlock and chains.
“I’ll talk to you soon, then,” I told Sierra.
“Yeah, talk soon,” she said, handing me the paper where she’d scrawled her number, complete with a little heart over the i in her name. For some reason, it was the sexiest thing I’d ever seen.
Well, second sexiest, after her naked, perfect body.
Stop thinking about it, or your hard-on’s going to shred your jeans.
“I’ll meet you outside,” Sierra told Louis, who took the hint and headed for the door. She slipped over, grabbed me by the belt buckle, and yanked me towards her. With a low growl, she bit my lower lip gently.
“What was that for?” I asked with an amused grin.
“I’ve been wanting to bite you since we met,” she said. “I don’t quite know why. Is that weird?”
“Not at all. You’re just marking your territory,” I said.
“I thought I’d have to pee on you to do that.”
“You definitely don’t ever have to do that.”
