He reached into his jeans pocket and pulled out the small ring box he’d been carrying around for days. Then he dropped to one knee while Libby gasped. Her hands flew to her mouth. “Oh my god.”
He held the box up in both hands like a knight supplicant. “My lady, I could think of nowhere better to ask you to be my wife than in a medieval city. Will you marry me, Liberty Grace King?”
She reached for the box with trembling fingers. He popped it open to reveal the perfect oval diamond set in a band of platinum and smaller diamonds that he’d painstakingly picked out. Not too big, not too small. Perfectly Libby, or so he hoped.
Maddy, Tallie, and Angie had assured him it was the right one. So had Libby’s cousin, Merry. He liked Merry, and she’d proved she could keep secrets if the way Libby was looking at him was any indication.
“Jared,” she whispered. “Yes. Of course, yes. A million times yes!”
Someone whooped in the garden behind them, and Jared realized they had an audience. Ah well, why not?
He stood and slipped the ring on her finger, and then he crushed her to him and kissed her with his entire heart and soul. She kissed him back with everything she had, and he knew this was right. So very right.
Jared Fraser was getting married. And he couldn’t be happier about it.
