“And... I’m hungry,” he added with a shrug of his small shoulders.
Talon laughed and Fiona joined him.
Chapter Eleven
ROGUE
He was so fucking tired, yet he couldn’t fall asleep right away. This woman had him tied up in knots. He’d wanted her so badly. Just the taste of her lips was enough to make him lose his God dammed mind. He’d intended to fuck her senseless when he had her on his bed. Now he was rock hard again. He damn well refused to jack off again. Once had been bad enough over some fucking female. But twice within an hour?
He threw his arm over his face to cover his eyes. Maybe he could block out the hurt he saw on her face when she’d said she was more than just a face and tits. Well, she was dammit. She was too good for the likes of his ass in any case.
Deep down, he knew his gut had been right from the start and it did not have to do with how much he wanted her. That happened later. No... she might just be the most genuine woman he’d ever met. Without guile or deceit. Unlike women of Cats’ nature and the same type of woman, he’d always known in the club.
No, this one was very different. In this, doc was right. So, what could he do to prevent her from further hurt?
He let out another huff of frustrated air. There he went again! He wanted to save her! Eagle had said it was all about a piece of ass. But it was more than that. He would’ve went on and fucked her tonight had that been the case.
Instead, he had stopped. Why had he stopped? Shit, he felt like it was wrong that was why.
Wrong? To fuck a woman you wanted to fuck?
His mind and body stilled. Yes, he had a moral code in certain things, however chicks hadn’t been one of them. He took what they offered and moved along. He never felt a sense of... responsibility.
Oh, fuck. He felt like she was his to protect. And this was the troubling issue. So why did he feel like that? He refused to consider that she was meant for him. Look at the vast difference in their worlds. If it hadn’t been for that slime, Devin, he never would have even met Sevie.
Her face kept appearing in his mind. He couldn’t get away from it and most of him didn’t want to. Talk about easy on the eyes. To have her... fully have all of her would...What Rogue? What would it do? You’ve had women. Many and not just bunnies. You have had women outside of the club. A few 9 to 5 types you met in bars.
Though, none were like her. She outclassed anyone he’d ever met.
So that leaves the problem of her being Dmitri’s niece. How did that connect? If she were as innocent as she claimed, how did this coincidence occur? Her being with a known enemy to the club, then ending up being related to an even worse enemy of the club?
He let out a long breath. Well, so much for sleep right? He closed his eyes and willed his body to relax. Then his breathing evened out and he finally, he dozed off.
“No!”
He sat up and grabbed his gun. Looking around, he tried to see who was in here.
“No. Please don’t hurt her!”
Rogue looked over at Sevie on the bed.
She had tossed off the blankets as she fought something in a nightmare.
He set his gun down and got up. He paused for a second as he knew he shouldn’t go anywhere near her.
“Please? Don’t!” she cried.
Weeping was more like it. He wondered if he had caused this. Great! More guilt.
Rogue stalked over to the bed and halted.
Her body was entirely uncovered. All that creamy skin on display. He could swear his forehead just broke out into a sweat. Hell, his whole damn body seemed to suddenly sweat. He stepped closer, reaching down, he tried to grab the cover. He needed to get that body under wraps before he...
Damn, those long legs. They caught his eye. They always did when he least expected it. He could just imagine how they would feel wrapped around him as his cock plunged into her depths.
He shook his head. You keep mentally fucking her when you need to stay away from her entirely!
Whimpering, she tossed and turned. “No, Uncle Dmitri!”
He froze at the name.
“Do not kill them! I won’t say anything, just please stop!” She sat up and screamed.
Rogue dove to the bed to shut her up. Every biker within the hall would come running. He embraced her and held her tight. “Shhh,”
“He killed my mommy! He killed papa!”
Rogues eyes round. “Who did?” he whispered to her ear.
“U-uncle Dmitri then he...” she cried some more. “He threw... me into the river. H-he had tied heavy blocks to my feet. Oh...The water!” Then she stilled in his arms.
Rogue leaned back to stare at her face.
Her head had rolled back as she let out a slight snore.
Gently, he laid her back down. Rogue sighed as he got onto the bed with her and covered them both up.
So, if she wasn’t faking this nightmare... then Dmitri had killed her parents then he’d tried to kill her. He wondered if she’d always had this nightmare or had it come about when they had mentioned Dmitri’s name.
So, if they did give her over to him like Eagle had already suggested. The man would kill her and fast.
Fuck and double damn fuck!
He’d thought things couldn’t get worse. Well, they just did.
He held her close. Then realized something after a few minutes. Her body fit his like a puzzle piece matching its pair. Her curves conformed perfectly into his hard planes, she fit right under his arm and right along his ribs.
Yeah, dumbass this isn’t a good thing either. You are allowing this woman to get under your skin. Most likely for the first time in your life, you are about to be had. Played as a sucker. And by a woman! You also are going into it willingly! Dumbfuck. But you just cannot seem to stop yourself, can you? Now you say she fits you perfectly. You’re already dying to see if your cock fits perfectly inside her pussy too, aren’t you?
Sighing, he shut off his mental ranting. Cussing yourself out was a step away from being completely insane. He then simply smelled the sweet scent of her hair and closed his eyes, as he finally felt sleepy.
A pounding sounded on the door.
Rogue sat up with a start and grabbed his gun from the nightstand. He could see that it was daylight now, as streams of light beamed across the room from the window.
The pounding went on.
He got out of bed and staggered to the door. But then... he turned to stare at the now empty bed. His gaze swung over to the bathroom. The door was closed. He hoped she was in there and hadn’t snuck out of here. Eagle would catch her and throw her back into the cell.
He opened the door, his gun aimed high.
Falcon stepped back and raised his hands up. “The fuck, Rogue?”
He lowered his weapon. “Well, don’t pound so fucking loud then. You could get your head blown off.” He stared at him.
Falcon raised a dark brow at him. His deep blue eyes looking troubled. “We got a Church again, and you are supposed to bring the girl.”
Rogue rubbed his hand down his face with a disgusted sigh. “When?”
“Half hour.”
“Fuck, I need coffee.”
“Yeah and one for the chick?” Falcon peeked in, looking around.
“Yeah and maybe have them bring like cream and sugar and a couple of donuts, a Danish or some shit?”
Falcon raised a brow at him again.
“What?” he asked in a low grumble.
“You never eat in the morning.”
“Oh and is that suddenly important to you, Falcon?”
He opened his mouth to answer as Rogue slammed the door in his face.
Rogue grumbled all the way to the chair as he sat. “What the fuck was he fishing for?”
“Fishing?” a soft voice asked.
He turned his head to see her standing at the bathroom door.
Her red hair fell down along her shoulders, gleaming all by itself. Her face had better color today though the purple
straight-line bruise showed starkly on her forehead. Her green eyes stayed on him. She wore the same blouse though he could see she’d tried to get the bloodstains off, as there were some wets pots on it. He could also see those sweet nipples pressing against the blouse. He stared at them before he could catch himself. “I sent out for coffee. And donuts.” He raised his gaze to hers.
She walked into the room closer to where he sat. “Is there any news?”
He pushed his fingers through his hair and casually set his gun on his lap. “News?”
“Yes, from your IT guy? That clears me?” Her eyes dropped to the gun in his lap.
This suddenly reminded him of an old gangster film line. He’d always loved those old grainy black and white films. Like the James Cagney movies...He and Talon would sit late at night with their beers and laugh at all the old smart ass lines in them... Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just glad to see me? He laughed aloud.
Her eyes widened at his sudden laughter. “Look, Rogue... none of this is funny.”
He shoved the laughter down hard as he stood up still wearing just his boxers “There won’t be any clearing of you being Dmitri’s niece, Sevie. If that is what you’re asking.” He turned to set his weapon down on the chair behind him.
She blinked her eyes in confusion. “But I—”
He raised his hand at her. “Look we got church in like twenty minutes.”
A small knock sounded on the door.
He strode across the room and yanked it open
A Prospect stood there with coffee cups and a bag.
“Thanks man.” Rogue grabbed it all from him and shut the door in his hopeful face. Making his way to the side table, he ordered, “SIT!”
Startled, Sevie jumped a little then quickly sat in the chair he’d vacated. “OH!” She stood back up to stare down at the gun in the chair.
Again, he thought of one of the old jokes. You don’t want me, do ya angel face? It’s my gun that you’re after. He smiled but suppressed any laughter this time as set all the stuff down on the dresser. He stepped over and grabbed the weapon up. “Sorry about that.” It just occurred to him that he was lucky this angel face did not want his gun. As he’d been so sloppy as to leave, it lying around like that. With a grunt at his constant slipping up, he motioned to the chair.
She again, sat down.
“You take cream and sugar, right?”
Batting her eyes at him, she looked shocked. “How did you know?”
He shrugged as he opened the packets and dumped them into the mug. “Just figures.” He handed her the coffee.
She took it carefully and lowered it down to her lap.
“I suggest you take a few sips ‘cause you need to be fully alert when I tell you this.”
Looking worried, she studied him. “Tell me what?”
“Drink!” He nodded to her mug as he raised his to his lips.
Still looking confused, she took a few tiny sips.
“Just right.” He nodded, as he gulped his black coffee down.
“Rogue. Tell me what is going on.” She fidgeted in the chair.
Well she should be nervous about all this, he figured. “Do you have nightmares?”
She blinked her eyes. “What?”
“Do you or have or have you been plagued with nightmares?”
She bit at her lip and peered down at her cup.
“How long have you been having them?” he asked quietly as he sipped at his coffee.
Her gaze shot up. “What are you, my shrink?”
With a laugh, he stepped back raising his mug up. “Do I look like your fucking shrink?”
Sevie halted her fidgeting to gaze at him, standing there in his boxers with all those tats and scars along his tall frame. Muscle bound and hard all over while holding up his coffee mug... then she almost smiled.
Rogue now realized something he hadn’t before as he stared back at her. He had never seen this woman smile. He raised his head in disgust. Why would this concern you Rogue? In the day that you have known her you took her at gunpoint, tied her up, cuffed her, then threw her into a jail cell. Why would she have smiled at all? He again looked over at the more than beautiful woman, as he answered himself. Yeah, you have brought nothing to her but 50 shades of misery and you have never made her smile.
“Why do you ask this, Rogue?” she asked softly.
With a thunk, he set his mug down on the side table. “Coase you had one last night.”
She gasped and raised her hand to her mouth. “I-I haven’t had one in a long time.”
He shrugged. “Well you called out No. Then Don’t. You pleaded for your parents lives. Next, you shouted No, Uncle Dmitri.”
Her mouth popped open.
He nodded. “Then I grabbed you to keep you from screaming some more. I held you and asked ‘who killed them?’ You told me your Uncle Dmitri did and then he tied cement blocks to your feet and threw you into a river.”
Sevie stood up abruptly with a loud gasp and dropped the coffee mug to the floor. It splashed up onto her legs.
Rogue jumped back a little then peered down at her legs. He quickly grabbed the tissue box and bent down to wipe the coffee away from her lower legs. “Did it burn you? It wasn’t that hot was it?”
She simply stood there, not moving. Quiet.
He stood up and stared at her. “Sevie?”
She stared blankly at the wall.
He set the tissues on the dresser. Grabbing her arm, he opened his mouth to speak.
Sevie jumped away from him, her eyes wide as if she just realized he was even there. “Why would you tell me such lies? Why?”
He halted. “Now look—“
“NO!” She whirled around and stared at nothing in particular. “No, it isn’t true!”
Letting out a sigh, he could see this was messing with her head. “It happened here in this room last night. How else would I know about it?”
She shook her head as her body trembled. “All these years, I had those nightmares and I could never remember what they were about.”
“Well, I witnessed it and I asked you. You then simply told me he murdered your parents then tried to kill you.”
Her gaze swung over to him. “So—it’s true?”
Rogue nodded. “But I can see that you didn’t consciously know he was your uncle.”
She lowered her head. “How could this be?”
Rogue grabbed his shirt and a clean pair socks from the dresser. “I don’t know. But...” He took out a pair of jeans. “I will try to explain it to Eagle and Talon.” He pulled his jeans on.
“E-explain?”
“If I can. Then I hope Bytes has found records of this event.” He buttoned his jeans up then sat down and put his socks on.
“Event?” she asked.
He looked up at her. “Yes, event. The murder of your parents.”
She wrung her hands together. “Oh, God. It will look like I did lie though. I swear I had no idea.”
Rogue pulled his boots on. “I believe you.” He stood, grabbed his gun, and tucked into the back of his jeans.
Her startled gaze swung over. “Y-you do?”
“Yep, I do. I also believe that you were used by Devin. That you were innocent.”
Her eyes rounded as she gasped in disbelief and rushed over, throwing her arms around his neck. “Oh, thank you! Thank you!”
Rogues body went rigid as he held his hands aloft. He knew he shouldn’t embrace her. Dammit, he knew better. His arms then wrapped around her.
“Thank you so much!” She tucked her body closer to his.
He nodded and took a whiff of her hair. It smelled like his shampoos but there was still a scent to her that was sweet and all her own.
Finally, Sevie stepped back and beamed at him.
Rogue was struck dumb. If he thought, her beauty was something before, it had been nothing compared to her smiling face. God dammit, he knew it would enhance everything about her. He seemed to lose his breath at her d
azzling smile.
At his expression, her smile faltered. “What is it?”
He blinked rapidly and turned away to grab his t shirt. “Nothing. We just need to get moving. Church is gonna start in a few minutes.”
She looked confused. “You keep saying Church? Are bikers religious? Cause I never knew that before.”
He stared at her for a minute then he let out a loud laugh.
“I don’t get it. Why is that so funny?” Sevie tilted her head at him.
Grabbing her hand, he pulled her to the door. “We bikers are religious about three things. Riding, fucking and winning.”
Sevie’s eyes grew round in her face again.
Rogue shook his head. “Church is what we call our official meetings. Where only the Prez, VP and the lieutenants are allowed,” he explained as he opened the door.
“Then why am I allowed in?”
Rogue paused then pulled her through the doorway. He didn’t know what to say. He didn’t want to scare her any more than she already was.
“I-is it because I am to be questioned? Like a court trial?”
He shut his door and looked into her eyes. “Yes. That is exactly it.” He did not want to soft sell this to her. He wanted her to be prepared for it. He knew Eagle too well. The man intended to grind her up like hamburger and serve her to the dogs. He winced at the thought. How the fuck was he gonna protect her from that? Preoccupied with this dilemma, he moved on down the hallway. He suddenly realized she wasn’t beside him. Rogue turned to see her still not moving. “Come on.”
Sevie shook her head. “I-I’m—are they going to hurt me?” Her large green eyes were full of panic again.
Unexpectedly, his chest felt tight. Real tight. He gazed at the fear on her face. “They will scare you is all. No one will physically touch you.”
Here eyes locked with his. “You promise?”
Rogue was taken off guard with this question. Promise something? Him? To a woman?
“Do you promise to at least, not let them hurt me?” she asked in a desperate tone after he gave her no answer.
He sighed. Rogue knew these men well. Most were like Falcon and Talon. They wouldn’t hurt a female. They had enough honor in them to have the same code as he did. He could at least promise her this. But as for hard questioning, threats and yelling? Eagle would probably give her all if that and more. The man had no care for feelings and shit. No, he would barrel on through her if that was what he felt was needed to get the job done. Though, he’d never seen his prez strike a woman, he still didn’t like Eagle’s attitude half the time. Rogue knew better than to disrespect him, but with each passing day, the man seemed to be losing his shit, more and more. They needed someone clear headed at the helm. After all, they were on the edge of disaster all the fucking time now and had been since the day Hammer died and left them his mess.
