The Spencer Cohen Book Two Page 17

by N. R. Walker

She disappeared, and not a moment later, she came back with a pot of green tea and two cups. One for me, one for Andrew. “Oh, I don’t drink that—” Andrew started to say.

Zineb put her hand up, stopping him. “You drink it.”

  “Okay,” he said quickly.

I laughed and Zineb looked at me fondly. “Oh, my Spencer. Look at you. There is happiness in your eyes.” She looked up to the ceiling as if in prayer. “Finally.” Then she leaned down, and taking a hold of Andrew’s face, she kissed the top of his head. “Thank you, thank you.”

Andrew blushed and shrank back in his chair, but all I could do was smile. I poured him a tea, then one for myself. I held my cup and waited for him to do the same so I could clink my cup to his. I sighed happily. “I’d like to buy you something tonight, when we leave here,” I told him.

“Oh yeah? What’s that?” He sipped the tea and considered it thoughtfully for a moment. “I’m not sure what you can possibly get me that will beat the record player or albums or the coolest book ever written.”

“It’s better than all those things.”

He looked at me like I was crazy. “How can it possibly be better than those things? Unless you found an actual copy of Living Sexy in LA with you on the cover, I don’t think it’s possible.”

I laughed at him. “I was thinking I could buy you a toothbrush. You know, for my place.”

  He stared.

“I know we said we’d hold off on buying them. I know what it represents, and I know you’re worried about rushing into things,” I added quickly. He was still staring. “But if it’s all right with you, I think I’d like to take that step. I mean, it’s just a toothbrush.”

His smile was slow spreading, a faint blush tinted his cheeks and warmth filled his eyes. “I’d like that.”

I felt like I’d just confessed my love for him, not just the promise of a stupid toothbrush. It was ridiculous how happy and nervous it made me. But after we ate, we made our way to the store and bought a tub of lemon gelato, and two toothbrushes.

One for me at his place, and one for him at mine.

  About the Author

N.R. Walker is an Australian author, who loves her genre of gay romance.

She loves writing and spends far too much time doing it, but wouldn’t have it any other way.

She is many things: a mother, a wife, a sister, a writer. She has pretty, pretty boys who live in her head, who don’t let her sleep at night unless she gives them life with words.

She likes it when they do dirty, dirty things… but likes it even more when they fall in love.

She used to think having people in her head talking to her was weird, until one day she happened across other writers who told her it was normal.

  She’s been writing ever since…
