He slipped out of her and carefully edged off the mattress. He wrapped her in the covers and swept her up before he settled her on the couch.
He didn’t bother to thump his chest before he wrestled the mattress to the living room floor.
“You have a world-class butt,” she whispered before he kissed her and lifted her back onto their makeshift bed. “I love watching you move while you’re naked.”
She patted the space beside her but he had to dispose of the condom. She whistled at him when he walked away from her.
“You know, just because I’ve agreed to share your bed for the next fifty years, it doesn’t mean you get to jump out of bed right after sex,” she called after him.
He picked up his pants from floor and palmed the small jeweler’s box. “You overwhelmed me with your naked, wet body and terrific sex before I could give you this and make it official. I can have it sized but I’d planned to give it to you last night before all hell broke loose.”
Nestled on a bed of ivory satin sat a small ruby surrounded by diamonds. “You know, just because I’m giving you this doesn’t mean either one of us has to jump right out of bed though the one in my apartment is much bigger. And sex in the shower is a definite possibility.”
She grinned when he put it on her finger and whispered, “Let’s always stay open for possibilities.” She pulled him down beside her and covered them with the quilt.
“Always sounds good,” he whispered against her lips and Bella smiled.
“Always is perfect.”

Bella moved into Rhys’ apartment the next day but she kept the one above the store because Rhys said he thought he’d be scheduling long lunches at least once a week. They did buy a new bed though.
Curiously enough, no matter how high a heel she wore, she always ended up needing help from Rhys whenever they attempted sex in the kitchen chair. Neither of them viewed the situation as a problem. They were always up for learning something new about each other.
Bella particularly enjoyed Rhys’ penchant for early-morning sex in the shower.
Ronnie stopped by the shop with a very formal apology and an offer for Bella to co-chair the next ball. Bella suggested having a circus for entertainment and Ronnie’s lips actually twitched.
At the end of March, Bella carefully wrapped the red stilettos inside a larger box filled with popped corn and sent them off to Erika with instructions that she should put them on immediately and sleep in them if necessary. Because if anyone needed a little magic in her life, it was Erika Bergstrom.
