Let's Get Weird: Poems, Songs and Other...From a 33 Year Old Boy Navigating the American Jungle Page 6

by Gary Hawkes

CHAPTER

It appears at last that we are closing another chapter

Will we learn what they were really after?

  Hold steady

  Be ready

For those above may soon need to fill their belly

Go now, before it’s too late

  Yes, don’t hesitate

Don’t you know life is short?

  Is there any real retort

  Blackness fell above the dwelling

A crippling mass than can be quite compelling

  But hopefully not overwhelming

It’s the reason they brought you to me

NO more troubles as far as I can see

  It’s the last chapter

  No more crying after

Have a beer, drink with laughter

Time to close this crazy chapter

  LAST ONE

  Fine, one last page

One to jot down all the rage

Except I don’t really have any in me

  The fight is dying

  Why am I trying?

The woman’s touch is beyond enticing

Take this one here, the nerves are clear, like a deer stung by lights and consumed with fear

  But no worries

It’ll all soon be over; no it’s not what you think

The accusations, I’ve been unable to blink

  Give us a wink

  It’s the best sign

Let us know it’s the time

To ring the bell and be on our way

Do you really think we should stay?

  An interesting place indeed

The slightest difference and your crazy it seems

Unsure of how to prove the thoughts in my dreams
