Happened So Fast Page 4

“Not at all, princess.” I leaned against the wall to admire her. My woman. “It’s sexy as fuck.”

She bit her lip as she put away her makeup. “Do we have to go back to the party?”

I should have been too old to be ready again so soon, but my cock jumped at the suggestion. “Well, if you’re not feeling well and need to lie down…”

She giggled. “I think that sounds like an excellent idea.”

Just then her purse began buzzing and she froze. “Oh God, Jonathan. He must be looking for me.”

How could I have forgotten about my son? She chattered into the phone as I unlocked the door, leading her behind me back to the larger group. Jonathan was in the middle of the room, looking around for her with something of concern on his face. Anderson was standing right next to him, whispering something in his ear and causing Jonathan to go bright red. When he spotted Sadie, he hung up the phone and walked over to us with a final glare at my business partner.

“Are you all right, Sadie?” He turned that glare on me as he spoke. Did he think I would hurt her?

“Everything is fine.” She smiled reassuringly. “Just wanted to get out of the crowd for a moment. Your dad was so helpful.”

“I’ll bet he was,” he muttered as he led her back to the bar. He made a point of ignoring Anderson as they passed once more.

I followed at a distance, needing another drink myself. Jonathan and I needed to talk about this, and soon.

  Sadie

Jonathan was livid. I didn’t know how he could tell Richard and I had been messing around—I had been very careful to correct my makeup and make sure my dress was on straight—but he definitely knew something had happened. He ordered us both drinks from the bar, then pulled me into the parking lot. The sun had just passed below the horizon, and the sky was a deep purple with pink-tinged clouds. It would have been a lovely sight, if not for my best friend pacing next to me looking like he wanted to rip someone’s heart out.

“Bringing you here was a bad idea. I’m not an idiot; I knew you had a crush on my dad. But I convinced myself everything would be fine.”

The alcohol burned my throat as I downed my drink. “Is this really the worst thing that could have happened?”

He stopped short and stared me. “How can you say that? Don’t cut yourself short, Sadie. This is bad.” He finished his own drink in one swallow and set his glass down. Even in his anger, he was careful with the breakables. “We can leave tonight, okay? Go back to the city. Maybe we can even rent a hotel, if you want. Or I can stay on the couch.” He reached out his hand, then hesitated as if afraid to touch me. I grabbed his fingers.

“We can go if you want.”

He shook his head. “This is about what you want, Sadie. I’m so angry with my dad for treating you like this. You deserve better than to have some old guy pushing himself on you.”

I blinked at him. “Is that what you think is going on?”

“Well, isn’t it obvious?” He threw his hands in the air. “My dad kissing you without your permission, getting Anderson to distract me so he can drag you off…” He sighed and stared at the ground. “I’m so sorry, Sadie. I shouldn’t have brought you here.”

I couldn’t speak for a long moment. I grasped for the words, but my throat was as dry as sandpaper. “Jonathan,” I croaked, and swallowed. “That’s not what’s going on, at all.” I took a deep breath. “I went to him.”

We stared at each other as the last light faded from the sky.

“You … you came on to my dad?” He still had that stricken look on his face, but for an entirely different reason.

I nodded slowly. “Everything that went down … I wanted it to happen.”

We stared at each other for a heartbeat, and then he dropped to sit on the curb. “Oh thank God. I was freaking out there. You know, guys need to speak up when other guys are being problematic, and I was just sure my dad had crossed some line and I needed to be here for you.”

I crouched next to him, folding my legs strategically. “So, you’re okay with me and your dad?”

He laughed. “I mean, it’s weird as hell, but this is ten times better than what I was imagining. I can deal with it.” He his smile turned to a frown in an instant. “Maybe. I might need some time.”

My head ached as I nodded, my brain shaking inside my skull. “Of course. Whatever you need.” I threw my arms around his neck and pulled him close. “I’ve been so worried, Jonathan. I didn’t want to risk our friendship, but what I have with your dad … it’s the real thing.”

He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me against his side. “You have good judgment. I trust you. But,” he pointed at me, “I am not going to help you with your relationship woes. And under no circumstances to do I ever want to hear about,” he shuddered, “sex stuff.”

I laughed. “I can promise you, I will never mention anything about that to you.”

The door to the club clicked open behind us, and we turned in unison to see Richard watching us sheepishly. He ran his hand through his hair and tried to force a smile.

  “Everything okay out here?”

Jonathan helped me to my feet and glared at his father. “If you break her heart, I’ll never speak to you again.”

Richard’s shoulders fell away from his ears as he let out a long breath. “Jonathan, you never have to worry about that happening.” He pulled his son into a rough hug. “Thank you for bringing her into my life. I’m sorry we kept this from you.”

“Yeah, yeah, whatever. Can you move back to the master bedroom? I don’t want to risk hearing whatever you two have going on.”

Richard raised his eyebrows and looked between us. “You’re being remarkably composed about this whole thing.”

I coughed and stepped between them. “Let’s go back inside, okay?” I didn’t want Richard to know Jonathan was concerned he’d been taking advantage of me. “I really want to get my money’s worth from the free bar.”

With the love of my life on one arm and my best friend on the other, we went back into the club.

  Richard

  *One month later*

She laid spread before me, fingers holding her pussy lips wide as I crawled across the mattress to get to her.

“Richard,” she whispered, “I need your mouth on me so bad.”

I didn’t bother to respond. My tongue was already reaching for her, eager to taste her sweet nectar already coating her flesh. She moaned the second I touched her, squirming in place as I flicked over her clit with short, light strokes. Her hand dropped from holding herself open and dove into my hair.

“More,” she commanded, pulling me deeper against her. I had to laugh at my greedy little princess. Ever since I’d shown her just how good it felt to have her pussy eaten, she had been insatiable. Not that I minded. Every inch of her tasted like liquid gold, and this secret part of her was even more delicious. I slid two fingers inside her slowly, coating them with as much of her honey as I could. Still licking her clit, I pulled my fingers out and slid them down and back to the puckered hole I had yet to explore. She tensed at first, still unsure, but as I worked my fingers inside her little asshole she relaxed and spread her legs a little wider.

“That’s it, princess. Let me fuck your asshole while I eat you out.” She moaned and writhed harder. She loved it when I talked dirty, as long as it didn’t take me away from her pussy for too long. Her ass clenched around my fingers, and more of her arousal coated my tongue as I alternated between licking her clit and fucking her hole with my tongue.

  “Harder, Richard,” she commanded. “Faster.”

I pushed my fingers even deeper inside her and moved my tongue quicker against her swollen nub. Her hips lifted off the bed as she clenched her ass hard around my fingers, driving her head into the pillow as she came. She screamed my name over and over. I suckled on her clit until she finally begged me to stop as the sensation became overwhelming.

She reached to wipe her pleasure off my lip as
I climbed up next to her so I could rest my head on her breasts. “Thank you, Richard. That was amazing.”

I laughed. “I told you, you don’t need to thank me every time.”

“Yeah, but…” she sighed happily. “It’s just so good.”

I kissed her breasts sweetly. “You know I love doing it.”

Even after we dressed, I couldn’t help pulling her in to me for another kiss. “Are you excited to meet Jonathan’s boyfriend? Any idea who it is?”

She rolled her eyes at me. “He refuses to tell me anything. I’m not even sure he wants to have this meeting. Sounds like his boyfriend had to talk him into it.”

We both chuckled as we headed outside. Should be interesting. Just before we stepped into the car, I grabbed her hand and directed her toward the setting sun. The sky was cloudless tonight, and the sky was a brilliant orange fading into an ombre red, then black, as the sun continued its descent while we watched.

“Let’s enjoy this moment together.” I kissed her ear.

She turned to catch my lips with hers. “I love you so much, Richard.”

“I love you too, princess.” This was the moment. I stepped away just enough to take her hands in mine and turn her to face me. “I wanted to wait longer to do this, because you’re so young and I didn’t want to rush you.”

She smiled at me indulgently. “You don’t need to worry about scaring me off, Richard. I’m with you to the end. But what are you talking about? We’re just going to dinner.”

“I’m talking about this.” I let one of her hands fall away so I could reach into my pocket as I dropped to my knee in front of her. Her eyes widened, but she did her best to maintain her composure. “I’ve been carrying this around for a week, but since the moment I saw you I wanted you to be my wife.”

Her lip trembled as one tear spilled from her eye and tumbled down her cheek. She wiped it away hurriedly with her free hand. My own fingers still grasped in hers felt the squeeze as she held me tighter.

“So I’m asking you tonight, on this beautiful evening, if you will be mine forever. Until we are both gone from this world, and even then we will unite wherever our souls manifest. I will stand by you no matter what may try to separate us. Sadie Johnson, will you marry me?”

She put her hand over her eyes to hide her tears as she nodded furiously, struggling to speak. “Y…yes, Richard. I’ll marry you.” She gave a choked laugh as I slid the ring onto her finger—an emerald cut sapphire set in white gold. “Nothing in this world would make me happier.”

I pulled her hand away from her eyes so we could look at each other for the first time as fiancés. “You’ve just made me the happiest man in the world.” I kissed her tenderly. “I promise to give you a wedding fit for a queen.”

She pulled me close as the sun finally disappeared below the horizon and cast us in full shadow. We held each other in the dark, the only two people in the world for this one moment. “With you, Richard, I already have everything.”

  Sadie

  *Two years later*

“RICHARD!” I screamed as I ran through the house, desperate to find him. We needed to get in the car, now. He poked his head around a corner as I approached the kitchen, his beautiful face already stricken with panic.

  “What’s wrong?”

“We have to go to the hospital. It’s time! The baby’s coming!”

His face paled the rest of the way. “Oh God. Okay. This is fine, we’re ready!”

“Get in the car!” I was already pulling on my shoes and grabbing my bag. “We need to be quick if we want to avoid traffic.”

  “Did you call Jonathan?”

  “He’ll meet us there!”

We got married a year to the day after Richard proposed, in what was truly a royal wedding for an American princess. My gown was decorated with hundreds of crystals, and a ten-foot long train trailed down the aisle behind me as I approached Richard at the altar stationed at the top of a cliff with the ocean roaring in the background. I managed to keep my composure during the ceremony; it was he who couldn’t control his tears.

“You are the love of my life,” he choked out right before he kissed me.

We’d discussed having children. Richard was young enough to still be a good father for many years, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be a mother. Either way, I still wanted to enjoy my youth for a few more years before making the decision. Richard was happy to have me all to himself, he said, and enjoy me he did.

The same could not be said for Jonathan. I never knew Jonathan was so eager to be a Dad, but apparently it had been on his to do list for years. So even though I didn’t want kids of my own yet, when Jonathan and Anderson approached me a year ago about being a surrogate mother for their child, I couldn’t say no. We dealt with hormones, the implantation, dozens of doctors’ appointments and ultrasounds that invaded every last inch of my privacy, but it was worth it, because my best friend and his husband were beyond excited to become parents.

And my water had just broken.

Richard broke every traffic rule to get me to the hospital in half the time it had taken on our shortest practice run. Jonathan and Anderson were waiting for us in the lobby, grasping hands nervously and bouncing with anticipation.

“Is everything all right? Did you have any problems getting here?” Jonathan took my hands as he helped me into a wheelchair while Anderson and Richard embraced.

“No problems,” I gasped, “but I need some fucking drugs as soon as possible.”

A few hours later, Richard cuddled up against me in the tiny hospital bed while Jonathan and Anderson swooned over their baby daughter. “You were amazing,” he whispered as he kissed my sweaty brow. I was dying to take a shower but couldn’t quite move from the bed yet. Thankfully, no one cared about the gross woman in the bed while they were obsessing over the tiny little girl I’d just produced. No one but Richard, that was.

“That was intense,” I said. “I still can’t believe I made it through.”

“Well, now you know you can do it. In case we ever go through this again.”

I turned my head to find him looking at me cautiously.

“Are you telling me you want children, Mr. Thornton?”

He shrugged and tried to look casual. “I’m saying I don’t think I hate the idea, Mrs. Thornton.”

I laughed and kissed his nose. “Let’s talk about it in six to twelve weeks.”

We held each other until it was time for me to pump, and then I kicked the new parents out of the room. I loved them both, but I definitely didn’t need either of them to see me with suction cups attached to my boobs. They left for food after making us promise to call if their daughter made a single noise. We ate dinner together as a family, burgers and fries and soda and all the things someone in the hospital shouldn’t be eating. And when I fell asleep with my husband in my arms, my best friend and his husband across the room, and the new center of all our lives tucked securely into her bassinet, I thought about how one little week-long vacation had turned into all this.

I had never been so happy.
