  “But Reggie…”

“Wha’ happened to Reg?” Tina asked.

  “It’s bad… It’s real bad…”

Coco, Kim and Tina all listened intently to Deedee, but her voice trailed. This time she couldn’t choke back her tears and Deedee started crying. Coco moved closer and hugged her then Kim and Tina joined in.

  “You’ll be a’ight, yo.”

“Reggie was in the car when it exploded,” Deedee blurted, crying.

  “Shyt no!” Kim said.

“He’s dead? You sure?” Tina asked.

“I’m sure,” Deedee answered with a nod.

“Why would anyone wanna kill my Reg?” Tina shrieked.

“I don’t think it was ever meant for Reggie,” Deedee said, her voice cracking with emotion.

Without concealing her feelings, Deedee’s tears freely flowed. Then her eyes seemed to drift. Glancing around, it looked like her whole world was crumbling, and everything was falling apart in slow-mo.

“Oh my God! Not my Reggie!” Tina shouted.

Tina made the sign of the cross and staggered as if she had been hit by a blow. Kim grabbed her, but not in time. Tina collasped on the floor. Deedee turned around, and saw her uncle in a heated argument with two officers.

They kept shoving papers after papers at him. Deedee saw her uncle slap the search warrant from the officer’s hand. Two other officers rushed over. Quickly they restrained Eric then placed him in handcuffs.

Coco was scowling at the officers. She suddenly raced over to aid her music producer. Another officer grabbed Coco, and restrained her from behind. Coco struggled with the officer who was trying to put her in handcuffs. She was coughing from his chokehold. Kim was on her knees next to Tina’s limp body. Deedee heard the cry, and did not mask her fury as she watched officers put Coco in handcuffs and led her along with Eric toward the elevators.

“What the fuck is happening? What’re you doing?” Deedee shouted.

“Stand back! This is an official U.S. government investigation,” the officer shouted at Deedee.

After shaking the unconscious Tina without getting any kind of response, Kim quickly realized she was not having much success reviving her friend, who remained lying motionless.

“Shyt…! Tina needs water…!” Kim hysterically shouted while glancing around. No one responded to her cry for help. “Shyt, y’all best cut out all da fuckeries and someone get my girl some water before she dies. Dammit!”
