Dawn's Tale Page 16

by Nicholas Knight

“Do you know why I pulled you over, miss?” the officer asked, stepping up to her driver’s window.

Dawn had finally just begun to dry off, with the heater running at maximum temperature. Dawn’s head was face down into the steering wheel, as if she was comatose. The concerned officer leaned forward, to get a better look at her.

“Miss? Can you hear me? I pulled you over to give you a citation for littering. Are you drunk?”

Dawn’s window was rolled up, so the officer decided to open her door, to take a closer look at the situation. As he did this, Dawn rose up, grabbed him by the wrist, and yanked him in the car. While holding him still with her superhuman adrenaline, she bit his neck and severed a major artery. As he bled like a fountain, she sucked and swallowed what came out, this time being extra careful not to get any on her outfit. When she had enough, she pushed him away, letting him fall onto the street beside her.

“AAHH,” she sighed, as she leaned her head back against the headrest. “That’s much better. That bacon hit the spot,” she said, as she savored the pork flavor.

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Nicholas Knight was born 'Sean Delorie,' in 1972 and was raised in Sterling, Virginia. Even at an early age, he knew that he was different. He was always drawn to the creative arts, and never had much of an aptitude for the academics. Nicholas was blessed with a wild imagination, and cursed with a heart of gold. Following his unbearably painful second divorce, to a brilliant sociopath named Heather - whom he tragically loved deeply (who proved to be a proud adulterer, pathological liar, a sadistic identity thief, and a ruse in every way imaginable), he began putting his inner torment and agony into writing and acting. They say that the best writers write about what they know, which is precisely what Nicholas has done and continues to do. That said, his books tend to carry elements of religion, politics, horror, superhero and supernatural fantasy, and erotic romance. He has also attempted to write and illustrate children's books.

Nicholas is much more than a novelist. He is an avid political activist and broken, yet faithful Christian, which make for an unusual and outspoken combination. He’s had to learn that the American Christian community, for the most part, is superficial, sanctimonious and discriminatory; and the majority of women he has known are cold and brutal. He lives alone, with traumatizing regret and detrimental despair. We all make mistakes, but unlike Heather’s crimes against him, his are not boastful. His past choices can never be redeemed or forgiven; and knowing this is what keeps him up at night. His entire life, he has been aching to love, but has unfortunately often attracted and invested his feelings in women who love to harm. These countless betrayals sadly led him to eventually hurt the people he would love the most and the very few who would love him back.

The decisions we make in life will always define us, if not immediately, then eventually. These choices will usually either humble or harden us. He has to fight every day to resist allowing the latter to assume control. Nicholas has been backstabbed by those he has trusted more times than he can list, but what kills him the most are the few he’s hurt himself. Most people fall in love once. Most people die once. Nicholas has died three times, as this love would always prove to leave him or be taken from him. He learned that his future would be filled with loss and disappointment. He was bullied as early as 3rd grade, being called Frankenstein for his oversized head. He didn't gain the attention of a girl until he was 18. Little did he know then, that he would pay a heavy price for this female affection that he craved so desperately. While his chain of tragedy and adversity would later make for vivid stories and intense performances, it would also inevitably crush his afflicted spirit.

Nicholas is drawn to the darkness, as an artist, primarily due to his soul being repeatedly crushed by rejection and his world being damaged by endless affliction. His life has not been an easy road, but his debilitating fear of his own mortality, his deep love for his daughter, and his desire to not be forgotten, keep him pushing forward, despite the obstacles and heartaches that consistently fall into his lap. Tormented with fraudulent passion and callous betrayal, he would use his endless suffering to mold himself into a stronger entertainer. Nicholas hopes that his ship will finally come in, and that these acting opportunities will inevitably result in launching a career. His dream is to make something of his writing, either for print or for the screen. He believes in himself, and feels confident in his storytelling ability.

Nicholas is a doting father who wishes he could have held on to Andrea (Harley’s stunning mother, who unfortunately turned out not to want him). Nicholas is an exceptional actor and a brilliant writer, and continues to pursue these two endeavors for his daughter more than for himself. It's been a real struggle, but he is determined to keep trying, until someone out there is willing to give him a real chance at making something of himself. Despite Heather’s continuous sabotage and irreparable malice, he tries to use whatever money he makes to pay the bills and make his visitations with Harley as memorable as possible. He is the definition of the term starving artist, and has become even more so since meeting the malignant Heather, who still continues to attack him with fraud. His dream is to be financially independent, where he can take care of himself and his daughter. He genuinely appreciates your support and hopes you enjoy his work both on the printed page and on the big screen. www.imdb.me/nicholasknight.
