“Y’all chill, it’s just my uncle. He’s a cop for Detroit. I was texting him earlier about our location just in case something was to pop off,” Alexis said, wiping the corners of her mouth.
“You told a fucking cop where my hideout was? Do you not know how powerful Johnny is?” Malachi questioned as the beads of sweat began to pour from his pores.
“Relax, my uncle is not controlled by anyone,” she said as she was opening the door. “Hey Uncle Smoke,” Alexis greeted him with a warm hug.
“Was sup niece, you text me to meet you here. Where is Malachi?”
“Yes, that man Johnny you been looking for, my boyfriend knows him personally. I think he would be essential to your case. Malachi!” she yelled, not knowing Malachi was behind the living room wall eavesdropping on their conversation.
“Yea,” he responded, coming out the back along with Olivia by his side.
“Wow!” Smoke said as he reacted to the sight of Malachi’s black eye patch. He knew it was a signal that he lost his eye.
“Wow what nigga?” Malachi said offensively.
“Nothing,” Smoke replied, shaking his head. “Just chill.”
“Uncle, he will help you with your case!” Alexis said, pulling up a chair.
“Help with what?” Malachi questioned, pretending to be clueless as to why Smoke was there in the first place. He wanted to deal with getting Johnny alone without getting the police involved. To him that was just a classic pussy move.
“My niece has reason to believe you have connections with Johnny. I saw him this morning, but he doesn’t know we have him under radar for the murder of my partner Eric. He thinks shit sweet, but I’m about to get him put off the streets and away for good,” Smoke spoke with confidence.
“Listen, Sergeant, police,” Malachi choked trying to figure out what to call him. “Or whatever the fuck. I’m not interested in snitching, so you can get the fuck on.” He simply had a flashback because he was the key witness to Eric’s murder.
“Fair enough.” Smoke tilted his head along with his lips and nodded in agreement. “Matter of fact, I will go. Just make sure if you ever change your mind that you give me a call.” Smoke handed Malachi a business card with his contact info and headed towards the door. Just as he was opening the door to leave, he stopped and paused to ask, “Do you know anything about that murder, that happened to be of the mayor of Detroit?”
Malachi’s one eye grew wide. He knew a lot about the mayor’s death because he was the one that killed him. He swallowed hard and shook his head no, but Smoke knew from his body reactions he was lying. He knew more than he let on, but he was going to let him hang himself.
“Ok, cool, take care!” Smoke said and left. Alexis locked the door behind him and walked back into the living room.
“See, that wasn’t too bad after all!” she said, trying to ease the tension that was building up between her and Olivia. She knew Olivia was going to say something.
“Bitch, you need to mind your fucking business! Meddling into shit that could get him locked up,” Olivia snapped.
“Girl—” Alexis started but was interrupted by Malachi.
“Alexis, get the fuck out. It’s over!” Malachi yelled, not giving her eye contact.
“But—” Alexis stammered, trying not to let a tear drop escape her eyes.
“IT’S OVER, GET THE FUCK OUT!!!!” Malachi yelled. He couldn’t risk getting caught and sent to prison.
“Fine, I will get the fuck on, but I’m gone make sure you and your uncle go down!”
“Bitch, get yo’ snitching ass out my house!” Malachi said and slammed the door behind her. “Now, where was we?” he turned around and asked Olivia, who was already in position to finish sucking him until he came.
The Curse
Ahhh! Ahhh!
Kairo groaned as she blinked her eyes twice trying to gain sight, after being dosed up from medicine. She felt drowsy and could barely see clearly. She was admitted to surgery, soon as she arrived at the hospital, for three and half hours. The doctors rushed her to a surgery room to perform an emergency c-section so that they could save the babies. Once Kairo realized that, she felt a burning sensation from being cut. She looked down and panicked, her stomach was no longer big, and she didn’t see her babies lying next to her.
“Where are my babies! Someone help, please!” she screamed, but her voice was weak and her throat was sore. Shepard was at the water fountain when he heard Kairo’s cries for help and came rushing in.
“Shh, rest Miss Kairo,” he said, handing her the Styrofoam cup filled with ice-cold water. “Here, I know you are parched. The doctors will be in here soon.” Shepard adjusted Kairo’s head pillows so she would be comfortable and not panic too much.
“Oh, thank goodness, a familiar face. Shepard where are my babies?” she asked, wincing in pain as she adjusted in that hard ass hospital bed. “Ouch!”
“Be careful! You still recovering from surgery! That bullet could have killed you. It’s amazing you are even still alive, a few inches to the left and you could have died.”
“Bullet?” said a shocked Kairo, now shielding her eyes from the brightness of the light.
“Yes! Johnny shot you straight in the chest. Luckily the doctors were able to remove that bullet in time.”
“I see, but where are my babies?” Kairo asked again. She could give two fucks about what Johnny was trying to do, or what he did right now. She wanted to know where her babies were. She did not get an answer. It was almost like he was avoiding her question. This annoyed the fuck out of her soul, and she yelled with all her might. “SHEPARD, WHERE ARE MY BABIES!”
“Ok, ok, don’t stress your voice. I heard you.”
“Ok, so where the fuck is they at? Why do I have to keep asking you the same shit?”
“I’m sorry Kai—” Shepard opened his mouth to say, but was cut off by Kairo’s distinctive cries.
“Noooooo, don’t tell me they died!!”
“No, they aren’t dead. They are in the intensive care unit. You know, to make sure they were not also injured. They were born healthy, weighing about six pounds apiece, at least that’s what I think the doctor said.”
“Shepard, I need you to be sure this was what you know! Please, I can’t take another death right now.”
“Ok, I will be back,” Shepard said and stepped out to go find a doctor that would be able to assist Kairo further. Soon as he left out, the Voodoo queen walked in.
“Hello Kairo.”
“Hi,” she replied dryly. She still felt some kind of way after what happened last night between her and her stepson.
“Oh, you don’t have to be dry with me. ” The Voodoo queen picked up Kairo’s dryness and was not expecting her to hold on to a grudge. “Let’s start this over. How are you feeling my child?”
“I’m irritated and trying to figure out what happened with my babies. Don’t be walking up in here like shit didn’t go down last night,” Kairo replied, gaining the strength to sit up in the bed.
“Huh,” the Voodoo queen sighed. “I was hoping bygones could be bygones.” She reached out and tried to touch Kairo’s wound.
“What! Don’t fucking touch me!” Kairo snatched away from the Voodoo queen. “What the fuck is wrong with you?”
“Last night, I had a vision that you were fatally shot and didn’t survive the bullet. The girls survived but you did not survive. That was after you said fuck me and my gods. I knew you were hurting from losing your husband, so I begged my gods to forgive you, for you knew not what you were saying. I thought I could heal your wound.”
“Oh, that’s some straight bullshit! If you saw this so-called vision, how come you didn’t warn me earlier? What I don’t understand is how come you just turned your back on your family like that.”
“I never turned my back on anyone, and if you are referring to Malachi, I’m not gone help him for working with the enemy.”
“You are such a fucking hypocrite. How you gon’ help Dela
no that turned against me to work with Johnny, but neglect to help his son? What the fuck is the damn difference?”
“I helped you, didn’t I?”
“Yes, and as you can see, I’m still alive and breathing. I don’t give a shit about—”
“You need to learn some manners young lady! You think ‘cause you high and mighty that your shit does not stank? How about some damn gratitude for once! You wouldn’t even be alive if it weren’t for my protection spell!” the Voodoo queen said with attitude and pointing her finger at her own chest. “You know what, you one ungrateful ass bitch!”
“Really?” Kairo smacked her lips. “I really ain’t got the energy to be fighting with some old ass hag from the 1920s!”
“You better watch what you saying to me!”
“Bitch, fuck you!” Kairo said, turning her back on the Voodoo queen, which was a big mistake. This angered her and she said a curse that was going to fuck Kairo up for a long time.
“I tried, but you picked your battle! Let us see how long you will make it, Bumtahkitha!” the Voodoo queen mumbled before she blew her hot breath in Kairo’s face.
“What the fuck is you doing man?” Kairo asked, pushing the Voodoo queen out her face. “NURSE, GET THIS CRAZY BITCH!”
“No need to yell for help. Remember who had your back from the beginning!” she said and stormed off. The Voodoo queen was low-key in her feelings that Kairo was acting so ungrateful. She never thought in a million years she and Kairo would have come to this, but not all good relationships last. Just as soon as she left out the room, Shepard returned to the room with a doctor right behind him. He paced the room as the doctor updated Kairo about the babies.
“So, am I at least allowed to see them?” Kairo asked, and the doctor warned her about being on her feet after surgery, but that went in one ear and out the other. She pleaded with the doctor until he finally agreed to allow her to see her babies, only if she had Shepard walk with her. Kairo was too geeked, like a fat kid in a candy store, and did not waste any time swinging her legs around the bed holding onto the four-wheel walker.
“You ready Captain?” Shepard asked, and Kairo nodded with a big ass Kool-Aid smile on her face, grinning from ear to ear. They walked together slowly down the long corridors of the hospital to the baby’s ward where they kept the babies. “I can’t help but notice the drama between you and the Madame Marie Laveau. Are y’all going to be alright?”
“Truth be told, I don’t fuck with snakes and people who turn their backs on their own flesh. I do not know what her problem is. I said what I said. Fuck her! What else am I supposed to do? I don’t kiss ass for nobody.”
“Alright, I won’t ask again,” Shepard said, surrendering from the conversation before it went left. He turned around to face the babies through the glass window. “Look at them, you and Delano made some beautiful babies!”
“Thank you, I’m just happy to bring them into the world. I wish their father were here.”
“I know, I’m praying for your strength in God. May God grant you the peace you need.”
“Thank you, Shepard, the Lord knows, I needed to hear those kind words. I really lost my faith in God. I really need to go back to church one Sunday.”
“So you say?”
“Yea, me and God isn’t on one accord right now. I completely abandoned my faith,” Kairo said as she continued to stare through the glass window. “I just want to touch them so bad!”
“I know, but maybe we should head back to the room,” Shepard suggested, tugging on Kairo’s arm.
“No, I’m not ready to go back. We just got here not too long ago.”
“Remember what the doctor said,” warned Shepard as he continued to tug on her arm.
“Fuck what the doctor said! I want to see my babies!” Kairo snapped, snatching her arm away from his grip.
“Fine, I guess I will wait with you.” Shepard sighed, folding his arms across his chest. He’d admired how strong minded Kairo was since she first arrived in New Orleans. He first saw her a while ago when Delano was sprawled out on the table fighting for his life. Not too many women were strong enough to endure half the shit Kairo had been through, but she made it out.
“Ok, I’s getting lightheaded. I think I’m ready now!” Kairo complained, grabbing her forehead.
“See, I knew it was time.”
They slowly turned back and walked to the room. As they were passing by the room, Kairo noticed a shadow of someone sitting in the guest chair turned towards her bed. She quickened her pace to see who that was sitting in the guest chair. “Can I help you?” she questioned, but the woman with the black hair just sat there and slowly turned around. Finally, when she turned around completely, Kairo jumped out her skin when she came face to face with this woman.
“Hi, Kairo! You missed me bitch?”
“Oh, hell no bitch! I killed you, I watched you die right in front of me. How the fuck you show up here Nikki?” Kairo screamed, and Nikki let out a long, distorted laugh.
“You sure about that? Let me tell you, hell is one hot and lonely place without you. I came to see these adorable babies and to bring you to hell with me.” Nikki was standing in the exact same outfit she wore when Kairo killed her by accident in her house a while back.
“FUCK YOU! You not taking me no fucking where!” Kairo picked up the bedside lamp and began swinging it wildly into the air. She was not aware no one was really there except for Shepard and the medical staff that was on shift that night. They all heard Kairo’s screams and witnessed the crazy shit that was taking place. The curse was beginning to work, causing her to see people who were not really there or alive. “Die, bitch! You die again, bitch!” Kairo stabbed the pillow with the lamp base with so much force that the pillow busted, and feathers began escaping from the split. In her mind, she thought she was killing Nikki again for the second time. She could visually see blood splatter across the room from the beating of what she thought was Nikki’s face. Nikki was not dying fast enough, she just kept laughing each hit Kairo struck harder. “DIE!!”
Shepard tried to save her from embarrassing herself, using all his strength to gain Kairo’s attention, but she overpowered him. “KAIRO! WHO ARE YOU KILLING??” he screamed, finally being able to remove the lamp out her hand. She calmed down and stopped, looking back to find a room full of people including Shepard.
“What the fuck is y’all looking at? Don’t y’all see this bitch? She said she was going to drag me to hell with her.” Kairo huffed, out of breath.
“No, there is no one there!” Shepard said, reaching out to grab Kairo.
“Let me the fuck go,” she snapped, pushing his hands away. “You don’t see the looney bitch?” Kairo turned around and saw just the pillow filled with feathers flying around the room. That was the moment when she realized she was fucked up in the head. “What the fuck just happened?”
“You sure you alright?” one of the nurses asked out of concern.
“Is she alright?” He looked back at the woman who was dressed in blue scrubs asked. “Yes, she is fine. Can you all give her some privacy please!”
Shepard pushed all the nurses and doctors out the room and closed the door behind him. He was concerned about Kairo’s wellbeing. She was no longer in her right mind and he could tell something was wrong. He thought it was just hallucinations caused by the medications the doctor put in her IV, but it was something far more sinister than that. The curse the Voodoo queen casted earlier took effect quickly, and now the trouble was going to begin.
Knock! Knock!
After two knocks, the same doctor that granted Kairo permission to see the twins came in without consent and spoke. “I’m sorry, I was concerned that she was hurt.”
“Damn, do y’all wait until someone speaks? She is fine. If we needed you, we know to call you,” Shepard said, pushing the doctor out the room.
“But—but she was just right here!” Kairo said, stuttering over her words in disbelief that she was now looking crazy. She h
eld her hands up to her head and sat back down onto the hospital bed. “What the fuck is happening to me?”
“Don’t worry, it’s the medicine. I’m sure you are hallucinating, or the Voodoo queen cursed you. I wouldn’t trust her now that you two are at odds.”
“Did you know about the curse?”
“No, but I have served the Voodoo queen and her family for enough years to know when she pulled a curse on you. Look at me and tell me how old you think I am? I’m cursed too. All I ever wanted to do was rest, but she snatched that from me.”
Kairo was so disturbed she could not even look at Shepard in the eyes. She just got back into her bed and pulled the covers over her head. He walked closer and kissed Kairo on her forehead.
“It’s going to be alright. You been through a lot, you just need to rest.”
“Shepard, thank you.”
“You are welcome. It’s my pleasure to call you my friend,” Shepard said before leaving the room to sit outside. He knew deep down things were not going to be alright in the long run, especially if she was cursed. He witnessed too many people being checked into a mental institution by loved ones, all from this curse. The curse that would eventually make Kairo go mentally insane. Shepard cried silent tears for Kairo. He knew once the Voodoo queen cursed someone, there was nothing that could be done to reverse it.
The Fuck Wrong With You?
“Ahhh shit! Suck this dick sloppy,” Smoke said as he enjoyed getting sucked up by his wife of 15 years, Promise. He laid down in their king-size pillow-top bed, puffing on a wood, watching his nine-inch pole disappear down her throat. He couldn’t fully enjoy the sensation because all he could think about was how he was going to solve this murder.
“Got a lot on your mind?” Promise stopped sucking to ask. She knew something was on his mind because he was not cumming fast enough. Smoke looked down at her young face that was covered with her own saliva.
“Uh, yea, I’m sorry. It’s so much on my mind right now.”
