  CHAPTER 8

  Antonia, Colin and Cecilia were having lunch in the dining room when Chelsea came in. She was furious with what happened at the restaurant. She went to her bedroom upstairs without greeting anyone of them. They all wondered what could have happened to her and why she went up without saying a word. Antonia said she might be angry because something bad might have occurred between her and Michael. Cecilia also said the same thing because of the way she dressed, like someone who went out on a date. Antonia said with an angry voice that why will Chelsea go out with Michael after all that had happened, and after all that Michael had done to her. Cecilia was amazed to hear that from her Mum, Antonia, she then decided to ask her why she said Chelsea should not move closer to Michael again. Antonia replied her and said she thinks Michael had something to do with Emily’s death. Cecilia replied and said, “I am very sure you know that Bobby went to the clambake that night. On that very day, Michael left the beach on time, while Emily was still at the clambake. I am very sure you know the whole story, but you were just trying to protect your side of it” Colin and Antonia were tense up at that moment, they never knew Cecilia knows much about the story. They warned her not to let anyone else knows that Bobby was at the clambake. They asked her to promise them that she won’t let anyone else knows about it, and she promised not tell anyone else. The three of them know that Bobby had a crush on Emily before the incident. Colin and Antonia want the matter to stay that way so that Bobby won’t fall under suspicion. They knew the letting people know that Bobby was at the clambake will bring nothing but trouble to the whole family. Bobby’ attitude is not the one to be trusted and they also know the way he behaves to Chelsea. They all decided to leave the whole issue like that so that people will still look at Michael as being suspicious. After they all finished their lunch, Cecilia packed the dishes to the kitchen. She started washing them when she got to the kitchen before she finds out what is wrong with Chelsea. Antonia decided to go to Chelsea’s room after the meal. She gently climbed the staircase when she was going to meet Chelsea. Colin wanted to follow her, but Antonia insisted she can handle it perfectly. Colin then decided to go to the living room in order to watch his favourite sport. Chelsea had already locked herself in, she had been crying heavily on her bed since she came in. What baffled her most was all about Georgina, she believed Michael could have done something with her and that is what gave her the confidence to talk about the two of the anyhow. She wanted all that that had happened between her and Michael to be over but surprisingly, Georgina came in again. She finds it very difficult to believe Michael again. Even if she believes the reason why he left without letting her know about it, will she believe him again about what Georgina had said? Even though Michael denied that but she still thinks there is an element of truth in that. Whenever these thoughts come to her head, she cries more. Michael happened to be the one she loves most. She had been into many relationships, but no one has ever handled her the way Michael had done. Michael is a matured man, he knows how to handle tough times and he respect women a lot. Chelsea was on her bed thinking and crying when she heard a knock on her door. At first, she never wanted to open the door but when she heard the voice of the person at the door she was confused. Antonia pleaded with her so that she can open the door and she also let her see reasons why she should let her in. Antonia let her know that a problem shared is a problem half solved. She continued by saying problems pertaining to man have to be shared so that she can share her experience with her. Chelsea was convinced by her Mum to open the door; she stood up from her bed and opened the door for her. Antonia was very scared when she saw her; she had never seen her in such mood. Chelsea had cried and her two eyes had swollen. Antonia grabbed her hands and led her to the bathroom so that she can wash off the tears on her face. After she had washed off her face, they went back to her room. Antonia gently sat her down and asked her what really happened and why she acted like that when she came back. As Chelsea was about to answer Antonia’s question, tears started dropping from her eyes. With the look on her face, she felt nothing but disappointment. Antonia could read that on her face, she asked her to calm down and explain herself. Antonia used her right hand to wipe off the tears on her face. Chelsea started explaining all that happened, she said “I was quarrelling with Bobby when Michael came in this morning. He asked me to go on a date with him and I used that to escape from Bobby. When we got there, we started taking and as usual we ordered for food. He knew I was angry with him with the look on my face, he then decided to tell me the truth about why he left without letting know about it. We were talking about that when Georgina suddenly interrupted. She started talking about what she and Michael had done when I was not around. She told Michael I don’t belong here and that he should stop following me. Michael tried to deny that, but I felt there is an element of truth in that. I told you Georgina met me on the way when I was jogging in the morning when she started saying all sort of things about her and Michael. At the moment, I feel used” Chelsea explained with tears coming out of her eyes. “Hmm! I’ve told you earlier to keep your distant from Michael. He is a good man, but I think there is something wrong going on in their family. I will like you to please forget about him for the moment. And for Georgina, she was just trying to scare you away from Michael; her parents are one of the sponsors for Lawrence campaign. She has a huge crush on Michael, but I don’t want you to get hurt by her. Baby please, keep your distance as I’ve said earlier” Antonia replied with a wonderful word of advice. She doesn’t talk as someone who hates Michael; she knew deep down in her that Michael is innocent. “Thank you, Mum, for your words of advice. I know you have already told me to keep my distance, but I find it difficult to resist him. I will keep to my words and make sure nothing else comes between us” Chelsea replied. She then thanked her Mum for always being there for her. She stood up and gave her a hug. As they hugging each other, Cecilia entered. She was very happy to see a smile on Chelsea’s face. Cecilia told Chelsea that she had already served her food and she told her to come and have her lunch on time. Cecilia led the way to the dining room and they both followed her downstairs. They all moved out of Chelsea’s room after one another. When they got downstairs, Colin was very glad to see them. It’s been boring alone in the living room; he was not really enjoying the show he was watching on the TV. He moved closer to them and embraces Chelsea. He said he knows how it feels to have a problem in a relationship, he then advised her to be strong. Colin sounds like someone who has an idea of what’s going. Chelsea was astonished by what Colin had just said; she looked at him with a surprise on her face. Colin started smiling when he saw the look on Chelsea’s face. He told her to stop looking that way and that he knows about all that happened. Colin was just saying this to calm Chelsea, he has an idea of what happened to her, but he does not know the full detail about it. After talking for a while, Colin was glad to see her step daughter in such happy mood. He told to come and join him in the living room after her meal. Chelsea insisted and said, I will like to have the meal beside you in the living room. Everybody started laughing when they heard her reply, it sounds funny to them. Colin ordered Cecilia to get Chelsea’s food and bring it to the living room. Colin gently led the way to the living room with Chelsea’s hand on his shoulder. They both sat down beside each other when they got to the living room. Cecilia brought the food to Chelsea and they started talking about something else as Chelsea was eating her lunch.

  CHAPTER 9

  It was getting dark in the evening when Georgina decided to pay a visit to the killer in order to have the money the killer had promised her. Georgina had come back home after interrupting Michael and Chelsea at the restaurant, she had planned to do something worse than that to them again. She never wanted the two of them together and due to the fact that her parents are part of the sponsors of Lawrence campaign, she wanted to use that to get close to Michael. She knew Michael won’t want to Bobby her away because of what her parents are doing to their family. After gettin
g dressed up, she called the killer and asked where he was. The killer told her to come and meet her in a secluded place where people won’t see them or have an idea of what was going on between the two of them. Georgina dropped the call after speaking with the killer on the phone. She wanted to meet the killer at home again in order to force him on her. She was thinking of having sex with the killer again, she enjoyed what they had last and wanted another one since she has no sex partner not to talk of a boyfriend. Georgina was very rude and she lacks manners. Since her parents are rich, she thinks no one could live up to her. In Hatton, no one has ever dated her. She used to be a childhood friend with Michael but since Michael saw Chelsea, he realized the term “Beauty and Brain”. Chelsea is just an opposite of Georgina, she is pretty, well-behaved, intelligent, brilliant and she is very humble. After taking a walk for some minutes, Georgina finally got to where the killer told her to meet. She was surprised when she found out that the killer has not come. She was about to call the killer on the phone when the killer approached her from behind and tapped her on her shoulder from behind when the killer got near her. She was scared for being touched from behind in the dark. She quickly looked back to see who just touched her, but when she saw the killer, her mind came at rest. The killer grabbed her hand and took her to the inner part of the place they were. The place was very dark and no one could actually know if people are there or not. The killer then asked her why she called. The question looks strange to Georgina, she replied him with curious tone and said, “I need the money you promised me and I have some more information to give about Michael and Chelsea”. The killer replied her said; I just want to confirm maybe you don’t have any other thing in your mind. The money is here with me but at first, I need to hear the information you want to tell me. Alright, “I just want to tell you that you should be careful these days. Michael and Chelsea are now getting closer; I need you to be very careful of what you do and how you move” Georgina responded. “I’m always careful” “I will make sure my job is neat this time around” The killer replied. The killer had already planned for Georgina. The killer knows that the presence of Georgina in Hatton will be a very big problem. The killer then planned to kidnap her and take her away from Hatton, but that won’t really work because whenever she has the chance to come back to Hatton, she will surely blow things up. The killer then thought of something else, the killer thought of killing her, but the killer doesn’t know how to go about it. Injecting her with a paralyzing drug will be better so that people will think Georgina is a drug, addict. The killer then planned to inject her with the drug. The killer brought the injection along when coming to the secluded part. Before Georgina could start asking for money, the killer gently stabbed Georgina in the neck with an injection of a paralyzing drug and the killer used the left hand to cover her mouth so that she scream while she was groaning in pain. After injecting her with the paralyzing drug, Georgina fell to the ground and she was unable to move. After noticing she was unable to move, the killer then injected heroin into her arm. The killer injected a fatal amount into her arm so that it will look like Georgina had overdosed. The killer left her body on the ground and ran away. The killer knows no one knows about their relationship and no one also knows about their presence in the secluded place. The killer left with no worries. Georgina’s body was lying on the ground in the secluded place, where people are rumoured to go to do drugs in private.

  CHAPTER 10

  The next morning in the Doherty’s house, Chelsea was still brooding about Michael. She woke up early in the morning thinking of why he did that to her, she wondered why Michael acted that way, to the extent of going out Georgina. Chelsea was thinking about this when she heard a knock on her door, she looked amazed, and she wondered who the person could be. She thought of her Mum, but she knew they have already talked about it yesterday. It was very early in the morning which was why she wondered who was knocking her door so early. She stood up from where she was sitting and moved to the door, before opening the door, she asked with a soft voice, who is that? Cecilia gently replied her with a cool voice, “I am the one, and I know you would have woken up early”. Chelsea was pleased to hear Cecilia’s voice that morning; she quickly opened the door and told her to come in. Cecilia entered and sat down on the chair beside Chelsea’s bed. She said to her, “I just came to check on you if all is well and I hope you had a great night rest?” “Thank you for being so caring, I really appreciate it. To be sincere with you, I was unable to sleep like I used to, everything was just coming to my mind. At this moment, I am confused and I don’t know what to do. I feel weak and it’s just like the world is coming to an end for me” Chelsea explained herself. “No! I don’t want you to think that way, I know everything is going to be alright, but you just need to be patient for now. I know the truth will soon be revealed and I am very sure Michael is an innocent on this” Cecilia replied. “So, do you mean Michael is loyal to me?” Asked, Chelsea “Yes, he is. Whenever I look at his face when he comes here, he doesn’t look like someone who is thinking of something or someone else. He always focuses his attention to you and I am sure he doesn’t have anything to do with Georgina as she had claimed” Cecilia explained Chelsea started chuckling and said. “You have actually been looking at him whenever he comes here, I hope you don’t have a crush on him” Chelsea replied. Cecilia replied with a smile and said, “Michael is an adorable man, he looks matured and he knows how to handle things. Sometimes, I just wish he is mine but I know that is not possible because you deserve to have him and he deserves you too”. “Really! I found it very difficult to believe you. You have actually been admiring him without letting me know” Chelsea replied with an amazing tone. “I know he is a good man and he is fun to be with, I can’t just imagine myself losing him to someone else, particularly, Georgina. That is just my fear about the whole issue” Chelsea continued “We can continue the discussion outside. I will be very glad if you could join me for a bike ride, the day is getting brighter and I think you have other things to do” Cecilia asked her for a bike ride. “Yes, I will join you but we won’t move close to the Olsen’s estate, I don’t want to see him for now” “Alright, I agree with that. Get ready and meet me outside” Cecilia quickly rushed to the roof of the house to get the bike which they will ride; she then went to her room and put on her jogging kit. Before she got outside, Chelsea had already finished dressing up. Cecilia met her outside waiting for the bike. Chelsea looked less worried and Cecilia was happy about that. Cecilia gave her a bike and they started riding from the front of their house. They continued with their discussion as they were riding on the bike as Cecilia as said. They continued talking about Michael while they were riding. They never thought of changing the topic because the two of them enjoyed talking about him. To their greatest surprise, as they were riding along the path they met Michael and Mathew on their way, even though they steer clear of the Olsen’s estate. It was a great surprise to them because they never thought of him jogging in that very morning. Mathew and Michael decided to jog for a while too as Cecilia and Chelsea had done. Michael was down, thinking about Chelsea when Mathew talked him out and asked him to join him on a light jogging. Mathew and Michael were surprised too to see Chelsea and Cecilia. When Chelsea saw Michael and Mathew approaching them, she stopped talking and at the same time she changed her look. She frowned her face all of the sudden. Cecilia, on the other hand, was very glad to see the two of them. Before they got close to them, Cecilia had stopped riding. She came down from her bike and moved closer to Mathew, she greeted her and before Chelsea could stop her, she started talking to Mathew into going for ice cream, leaving Chelsea and Michael alone. Chelsea continued biking away from Michael, but he Michael quickly rushed to her and grabbed her hand as she was riding. Michael begged her to stop the bike and she gently held the break to the bike. Chelsea was looking away from him when she stopped the bike and Michael insisted she should listen to her. Michael started talking to her and said, “I don’t have anything to do
with her and I have never done anything with her. I am still so much interested in you and I will like you to please give me the chance to proof the love I have for you” “I don’t really have any problem with you and Georgina; I know she was just trying to Bobby me away from you. But the only question I have been that, why did you leave and never tried to get in touch. I know there is something more to what you told me at the restaurant and I want to hear it from you” Chelsea replied. Michael was very glad to hear that Chelsea was not upset with what Georgina said. He felt reluctant to let her know the truth about his disappearance. When Chelsea noticed Michael doesn’t want to give an answer to the question she asked, she started riding away from him. When Michael saw her leaving, he quickly rushed to her and he blurts out that he did it for Mathew’s sake. He explained further and said, “The night of Emily’s death, Mathew was there and he got drunk. He did drugs and he has no memory of where he was or what he was doing. He had bruises and scratches all over him like he had been in a fight. He doesn’t even recognize anyone again; we had to carry him home that night before people start being suspicious of what was going on. That was what I was battling with when you were looking for me that night. I was devastated that very night. When we heard of Emily’s death the next day, we were shocked. We have to go into cover-up mode, my Dad then decided to make me bear the brunt of suspicion because Mathew has already had several run-ins with the police. I never wanted to take up the decision, but I just have to do it because of the love I have for Mathew. That was why I left without letting you know about it, I am very sorry once again” Michael explained the full detail to Chelsea. Chelsea was stunned by the revelation; she was shivering on the spot she was standing. She couldn’t believe all that happened at the night on the clambake. She wondered out loud if Mathew could have killed Emily. She replied and said,
