We were fast approaching New Years Eve, and I was not ready to let go of this little slice of happiness on the side of Scarfell Mountain. I didn’t want to face up to the fact that what I’d found with Noah was going to end. Eventually, I would have to pack up my stuff and go back to the city, to my well-paying job and my rent-controlled apartment.
I shut my eyes tight and willed all my adult responsibilities to disappear into the thin air, to melt away like the snow would come spring.
Noah stroked my hair out of face. “Nothing is stopping us from staying like this forever, you know?”
I lifted my head to gaze at him. “What do you mean?”
“Stay here. Stay here, in this cabin… with me.”
“I couldn’t—”
“Why not?”
I blinked, trying to comprehend those two little words. Why couldn’t I stay? What exactly was stopping me? My parents loved Noah, and although they would probably say that we were moving a bit too fast, they wouldn’t begrudge my happiness. And they both knew how much I loved coming here to Scarfell. It was probably one of the main reasons they moved heaven and earth to make it back here each year, to make me happy…
“Katie, I’m in this for the long haul, and I want you here, with me. Please say you’ll stay? I need you to stay. I don’t think I’d be able to last without you.”
My head was whirling with the possibility; I was sure I could easily transfer to another hospital, or pick up shifts at a nearby clinic. Or better yet, be the resident doctor right here on the mountain. A lumber mill would no doubt bring a few cuts and scrapes in from time to time… wouldn’t it?
Could I give up everything in my city life for Noah?
There was no doubting it, my mind was made up.
“Hell yes! Let’s do it!” I said and flung myself back into Noah’s arms, never to leave them again.

I totally wasn’t prepared. Not for her.
She got out of the car and my mind froze, but the rest of my body was on fire. Every cell was calling, urging me to get closer, to breathe her in.
This wasn’t going to end well, I thought.
My mom went running to her new husband while I stayed behind, partially hidden behind one of the large pillars on the porch. I watched her squirm and scrunch up her cute button nose as the two lovebirds sucked face. Something inside me told me I would do anything to lick that nose…
And those curves. Damn, she was an hourglass that could stop time itself. My cock twitched just at the sight of her.
Snap out of it, for fuck’s sake!
But my legs moved on their own accord, and before I knew it, I was calling her name. Her head turned to look at me, and her thick black curls swished over her shoulders.
The blue of her eyes matched the clear crystal hue of the sky above us. They sparkled at me, full of desire. My mouth watered; even from a few steps away I could smell her scent from between her legs, her excitement. Oh god, she was feeling it, too.
This had to be a cruel joke. This could not be my new stepsister. One I had to live with for at least a year? I would never make it. I would have to go live in a cave on the other side of the mountain, as far away from her as I could get!
Full of nervous energy, my mouth starting spilling nonsense, bragging like a privileged jerk.
Shut up, shut up. SHUT UP!
She must’ve thought I was an arrogant fool. I clamped my jaw down tight to prevent any further embarrassment and gave her an insane grin instead.
Oh, yes, let’s make her think I’m crazy idiot - ‘cause that’s so much better.
My mother thankfully came to my rescue and escorted Jess up to the lodge.
I watched them go, my eyes discretely fixed upon Jess’ delectable heart-shaped rump in those skin-tight indigo jeans, her hips swinging from side to side as she walked up the stairs.
Be still my throbbing cock…
