From behind him, I saw movement and I realized Mrs. Jessup was standing there holding Molly. I clapped a hand over my mouth and squealed. “Molly!” I pointed and realized Paxton was nodding.
“Okay. So maybe there’s one other person I’ll be sharing my life with. Molly is in fact my daughter. We’re kinda a package deal now. I’m in the process of having Harlow’s parental rights terminated and getting sole custody.” Paxton cupped my cheek. “And if you agree to marry me, I was hoping you’d also agree to adopt her and be Molly’s mom.”
Tears ran down my face. “She’s yours.”
“She’s ours,” he corrected. “Will you marry me?”
I nodded and spluttered, “Yes!”
Paxton pressed his lips to mine. “I love you. I’m so thrilled we’re building a life together.”
“Me too. I love you too.” I knew I wasn’t making sense. I was so emotional. Using the napkin from my lap, I swiped at the rivers running down my cheeks as he slipped the ring onto my finger. Our friends cheered when we stood and walked to reclaim Molly.
A thought came to mind as I folded her in my arms. “Is this the last delivery of the day?”
“Yes. It is.” He laughed as we held her for the first time in over a week.
“Best delivery ever,” I murmured as we hugged and held Molly between us.
“I can’t wait to take my girls home,” Paxton whispered against my hair.
“Now the place will feel like home,” I admitted.
