by Juliette Fay
I’d also like to send out a posthumous prayer of thanks to the great George Burns, whose several autobiographies on his life in vaudeville with his beloved wife, Gracie Allen, provided a fascinating perspective. A true entertainer to the end, his were the most fun to read of the countless books I consumed on the subject.
As of this writing, my children, Quinn, Nick, Liam, and Brianna Fay, are ages thirteen to twenty-two, just like the Turner sisters. As I wrote, it was fun (and slightly anxiety producing) to imagine my four taking their talent and wit on the road. I am grateful for their love and inspiration, and for their finely honed ability to crack up their father and me. And I really don’t know how I would make my life work at all without the love, good humor, and co-parenting wisdom of my husband, Tom Fay.
Juliette Fay is the award-winning author of three previous novels: The Shortest Way Home, Deep Down True, and Shelter Me. She received a bachelor’s degree from Boston College and a master’s degree from Harvard University. Juliette lives in Massachusetts with her husband and four children. Her website is juliettefay.com.
