Helen was somewhat disappointed that her moment with Marcus had been interrupted. But, it didn’t matter. What did matter was that the man who had captured her heart was back in her life. She would have plenty of chances to be alone with him in the future. For now, she would relish his presence beside her; listen to his voice, feeling closer to him than she had ever been…

Three Days Later
For the first time since the beginning of their relationship, Helen and Marcus were free to roam the world. And, they were going to make the best of it. Without much thought, they decided to return to Los Angeles, to the place where they had spent their first night together and one more night with her friends: Butterfly Beach.
Michelle, Gina, James and Rick were already there, waiting for them. As Helen and Marcus walked alongside each other though, she noticed one more, feminine figure. Her long, whiskey hair looked very familiar. It was Olivia.
The air was filled with cheers and pretentious screams, as their eyes met. The three friends began to sprint along the beach, whereas Gina and the men preferred a more relaxed pace. Helen’s heart was pounding in her chest, watching as her two friends got closer and closer. In a matter of seconds, she was lost in a tight group hug, as her ears were filled with their voices.
“It’s wonderful to see you again, guys!” She said, her own voice gone blissful.
“Welcome back, sweetheart.” Olivia uttered, rubbing her hand up and down her friend’s back.
“Great to have you back, baby.” Michelle spoke, squeezing her shoulder.
“Chicks…” Rick scoffed, pointing at them.
“Whatever…” Gina muttered under her breath. “It’s nice to see you, Shandaken girl.”
“You, too, Gina.” Helen smiled, easing out of her friend’s embrace, as the men exchanged cordial hugs with one another. “James…” She added, turning to Olivia’s husband. “I owe you a slap in the face.”
“Ooooh, that’s gonna hurt!” Rick laughed.
“A slap?” James squinted at her. “Why?”
“I’m just messing with you.” Helen said, as a broad smile spread across her face. “Thank you; for everything.”
“My pleasure,” James gave a satisfied nod.
“What do you think, Mr.?” Helen lowered her voice, as Marcus took a few, slow steps towards her. “Can we make this night as great as the last one?”
“You bet,” He whispered, pulling her into his embrace. “It’s going to be even better.”
Helen spoke no more. Resting her head on his chest, she savored his embrace, feeling blessed for finding true love. She had lost him once, but now that they were back together, she was going to do everything in her power to hold on to the man who had stolen her heart, one night in Barbados: Her very own, dark angel…
