Surrounded By Knight Page 6

“Nope.” I popped the P for my own dramatic effect. “It just so happens you were running in front of me. Loved the view by the way,” I goad.

Jerking her arm away from my grasp, she replied, “Yeah right, and stop looking at my ass.”

“Not happening.” I made my words sound serious. “You know, I could’ve just let you face plant into that cow shit.” I pointed to the fresh heaping pile her face was destined for. She looked at it as if contemplating my words, then looked up at me. “Better be glad I was here.”

The wind had her long dark ponytail flowing around her face and her nose and cheeks were slightly reddened from the chill. “Bet you would have enjoyed that, huh?” she asked, just as bitterly as the cold wind.

“If I wanted to see your pretty little face covered in shit then I wouldn’t have just prevented it from happening. Instead I’d be standing here laughing my ass off.”

She tried to mask a laugh herself but failed miserably. “Jerk,” she spat, smacking me across the chest. Her fingers made contact with my nipple ring and I saw a flicker of light in her eyes as her tongue darted out to wet her lips. I couldn’t help but divert my attention to those lips – lips I so desperately wanted to sink my teeth into. I bet they tasted amazing.

Shut the fuck up, Trevelin. You’re torturing yourself.

“Race you back!” Country shouted, quickly ending the increasing desire that I felt building between us.

Her slender frame darted past me, laughing as she looked back to see if I was going to play her game.

Why the hell does she have to be so damn cute?

If anyone else were to talk to me the way she did, I would have knocked their head off. Of course not a female, but they would get a good piece of my mind. Not this one though. Her diversions and spunky attitude turned me on. Never had I wanted a girl this bad and it pissed me off that I even felt that way.

I put my legs to work, sprinting after her so I could catch up. It didn’t take long considering her short legs couldn’t carry her anywhere fast. “Do you always run in the mornings?” I asked when I reached her side.

“Yep, gotta stay in shape,” she huffed heavily. She seemed to be trying her dying best to pass me, but I wasn’t letting that happen. Every time she increased her speed, so did I.

I could stomp her ass if I wanted to, but at the position I was in I was visually blessed with the bouncing motion of her boobs. “Seems to be working,” I admitted honestly, admiring my view. She quickly glanced at me with an unsure smile, then focused back on the path. “Addie not run with you?”

“If Addie is ever up before eleven, hide. She is a major bitch before noon. What about you? You always run?”

“When I can. It helps strengthen my lungs and gives me more endurance for when I’m singing and moving around on stage.”

“It does, doesn’t it?” she panted as she gripped onto the wooden planks of the fence. Her question caught me off guard and I stared at her as she crossed over the fence. How would she know? She noticed my look of puzzlement and said, “I mean...I bet it does.” Jumping down, she brushed her hair out of her face then shot off like a bat out of hell towards her house before I could even make my way over the fence.

“You’re a cheater, Country!” I yelled while she jogged across the driveway.

“Only sore losers complain...Hollywood.” With those words she vanished inside.

I was speechless and stared gapingly like a fool where her ghostly image just was. What the hell did she mean? She acted as if she knew what it was like to sing and be on a stage.

When I got inside she was nowhere to be seen. A part of me was thankful for that while the other part missed her presence. I felt conflicted and it pissed me off.

It was still early and everyone else was still asleep. I maneuvered around the kitchen and fixed a cup of the coffee that Country had made before we went running. Possibly the best run of my life. Shorter than what I was used to, but invigorating to say the least. I’d only run the streets of a busy city or the crowded sands of a beach, and I have to say I could get use to this country running. No bicyclists. No other runners. No honking or car alarms blaring. No people yelling and screaming, and the best part—no one following me wanting to get an autograph or to take my picture. It was peaceful.

“You can take a shower in the downstairs bathroom. I’m sure you probably stink.” Country’s southern drawl kicked me out of my thoughts. Gliding by me, she headed for the coffeepot. A sweet flowery scent floated around my face as she walked by; leaving me in a cloud of drunkenness due to the intoxicating aroma I was bathed in.

Her wet hair cascaded in dark, wet waves down her shoulders which told me she had just taken a shower herself. Dressed in a pair of fitted jeans, a pink checkered button-down shirt and a different pair of cowgirl boots from yesterday, but still as sexy, the sight of her had my heart racing and my dick aching.

“You’re probably right,” I said, finishing my coffee. Getting up, I made my way across the kitchen to put my cup in the sink. As I approached the counter, Country was busy fixing her own cup, and I couldn’t help but observe the amount of sugar she dumped into it. “Damn, Country, you want a little coffee with your sugar?” I teased.

She gave a small snicker. “It’s the only way I can stand to drink it. The caffeine gives me that pep I need, but without all the sugar it’s just nasty.” She looked at me then quickly turned back to fixing her cup. “I have stuff to do, but make yourself at home...you’d probably do that anyways. See ya later.” She grabbed her cup and a coat off a hook by the door before she left.

After wandering around the house for a while, trying not to seem creepy by looking at all of the photos of her, Addie and other people who I was guessing were other family members, I decided to do just as she suggested and take a shower.

I made the water as cold as I could handle without completely freezing myself to death, but cold enough to kill the intense boner that didn’t seem to want to go away. When I was done washing my hair along with the rest of my body, I came to realize that the coldness of the water wasn’t serving its purpose and it wasn’t going to relinquish the painful build-up. I had no other choice but to tame it with another method.

Closing my eyes, I imagined the wet, stroking pressure around my hard dick was Country’s luscious, smart-ass lips. It wasn’t near as pleasing as what I assumed the real deal would be, but it had to do. At least until I could test drive the real thing.

Izzy had been gone all day, and that left Reed, Jace and I hanging out with Addie. The girl was as chatty as the moment I met her, and between her and Reed I thought my head was going to explode. They argued for the better part of two hours over which celebrity had the best pair of boobs. As of now it was a tossup between Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sofía Vergara.

I have come to believe that Reed had met his perfect match, but Addie seemed to be taking more of an interest to Jace. She tried to work her way around me, but I flat out told her I wasn’t interested. That felt weird. I’d never said that to a beautiful woman before in my life, not to mention I heard those same exact words last night come from the beautiful woman that I wanted to be interested.

What the hell was wrong with me? I don’t chase chicks, they chase me and I like it that way. There’s no thinking or strange emotions that go into pounding someone new each night. Why was I so fuckin’ caught up on this one particular girl? I’ve got to shag someone quick and get her out of my head.

Addie had already called her uncle. He’d stopped by earlier and got the keys to the bus and said he would haul it to his shop before Thanksgiving dinner.

Thanksgiving. I would be a damn liar if I said I wasn’t skeptical about this whole family holiday dinner thing. Another never for me was experiencing an actual family gathering. It’s kind of hard to when you grow up without any family. The closest things I had to family were the guys. Reed and Jace’s mom Kelly took me in when I was fifteen and has been the closes
t thing to a mother figure that I’ve ever experienced. Regardless of her small salary, she took care of me and treated me just like her own two dummies, and I had been thankful for that. But still, I had no idea what it was like to actually live the full family experience.

Those were all the thoughts that were coursing through my head after getting off the phone with Kelly, and telling her Happy Thanksgiving and why we weren’t there with her as Addie drove the short distance up the drive to her parent’s huge house. To say I felt like an intruder in another world would be highly understated.

I so fuckin’ did not want to be here.

I wanted to be back on familiar territory. Like on the bus or, as the guys and I called it, the Knight Slayer, on stage or at my home in Oregon.

All the unease seemed to escalate, causing my body to burn when the vehicle came to a stop and I caught an eyeful of Country’s dainty figure talking to some guy on the porch. They were laughing freely with one another, and she shoved him playfully on the shoulder when he said something that made her face light up in a way that made my heart pound at a frantic pace in my chest.

I’ll be damned, she has a boyfriend.

No wonder she had been resisting me. That’s the only logical explanation.

“Trevelin?” Addie peered over at me. She must have noticed me staring heavily at her sister. Peeling my eyes from the glowing angel on the porch, I looked at Addie. “You like her, don’t you?” she questioned quietly, her deep brown eyes searching mine.

“She’s cool.” I shrugged, playing it off. She only smiled and looked at me with an expression that said ‘yeah, right’ before she shook her head and got out of the vehicle.

I might like Country, but that was something I was having a hard enough time admitting to myself. There was no way in hell I would tell anyone else. Plus, it appeared she already had a boyfriend.

Of course she did. She’s perfect.

Well, I was just going to have to make the lucky fucker the most uncomfortable boyfriend on the face of the planet. What guy wouldn’t be squirming with jealousy if he knew a Knight Raider had slept holding his girl all night?

Bouncing confidently up the steps, I threw my arm around her tiny shoulders as I reached her side. “What’s up, Country?” I asked softly.

She stiffened under my arm, but I didn’t let it faze me. I just pulled her in closer, letting her flowery smell intoxicate me once again. Fucking flowers? Who knew that shit would make me sniff open air like a damn pansy? Not making it obvious, I inhaled deeply until I felt the sweet high she ravaged my body with.

“Having a conversation,” she stated bitterly. The bitterness in her voice and the scowl on her face only turned me on, pushing me further.

“Nice. I just wanted to let you know that last night, sleeping with you, was the best I’ve had in a while.” Pretty boy shift his weight as he uncomfortably raked a hand through his dark hair before he placed both hands in his pockets. My plan was working. “You’re adorable with slobber running down your face,” I gently traced the path on her chin where her drool had been, “and you make this cute squeaky noise with your nose—”

I was almost cut in half with the sharpness of her glare as I tapped the tip of her little button nose.

“Shut up, Trevelin.” Her words came out firmly through clenched teeth while her eyes darted back to pretty boy. I smiled, feeling successful when I noticed the blank stare on his face.

“Oh, sorry. Didn’t see ya, dude. I’m Trevelin Knight.” I held out my hand, trying not to look too menacing, but shit if I didn’t want the look to tell him he had something I was fighting desperately not to want.

“Yeah...yeah, man, I know who you are.” He shook my hand eagerly, his face lighting up.

Okay, either the guy is dumb or doesn’t give two shits and a fuck about who was sleeping with his girl.

If it was the other way around I would have decked the douche in the face by now. Preferably when he touched my girl.

“Trevelin, this is Dustin, my...cousin.” The emphasis on her last word said she wasn’t clueless as to what I was doing.

Pretty boy Dustin was her cousin.

Relief plowed wildly throughout my body. Did this mean she didn’t have a boyfriend? Addie seemed pretty certain to know that I liked her sister, so if Izzy wasn’t single she would’ve told me, right?

“You slept with him?” Dustin whispered loudly, leaning toward her. Shock, uncertainty, and a grin appeared on his face, and then he quickly glanced over at me. I was smiling so hard it hurt.

“God, no!” Country declared, a little too loudly for my liking. “We both slept on the same couch. You know how hard it is to sleep in a bed with Addie. Nothing happened.”

“Say no more.” He held up his hand. “I would rather sleep on a bed of nails than sleep in the same room as her,” he laughed. He fixated his glare on me. “I know who you are, man, and I love your music, but this is my little cousin here. If you hurt her, so help me—”

“Dustin, I told you they’re only here for the weekend. Nothing happened. Once your dad fixes their bus I’ll never see them again. Right, Trevelin?” She looked up at me, her eyes wide, showing off the sparkling blue hidden beneath her thick lashes.

Her words cut deep. Never see her again. I don’t know why, but that thought left me feeling sick to my stomach. Depressing and unusual emotions spewed out, poisoning my insides. My veins felt as if cyanide was rapidly flowing through them, preventing my blood cells from absorbing any oxygen.

Swallowing my pride and the fact that I only had three more days with her, I finally answered her question. “Yep, it’ll be like we were never here,” I shrugged, trying to sound pleased by the idea.

I was, to some extent, ready to get back to the everyday grind. Then the thought of leaving her and never seeing her again was an impending truth that I was going to be tortured with.

She smiled weakly, and I couldn’t even begin to offer one back.

“Doubt that, dude, y’all are famous. This Thanksgiving will go down in the Morgan family history. Let’s get inside, I’m ‘bout to freeze my ass off.” Dustin wrapped his coat tighter around his body then headed for the door.

Country did that quick head snapping thing toward me that I was becoming very familiar with. Her lips were pursed and her clear eyes were now hooded by her cutely executed scowl with that damn cute ass dimple winking at me.

“I know what you were doing. I’m not stupid, contrary to what you may think. I don’t even know why you would act like we had sex – oh, wait, yeah I do. Because you’re a famous, arrogant, rude rock star, and you get everything you want, right?” she fumed, shifting her head to the side with her hands placed firmly on her hips.

  Hottest thing I’d ever seen.

I tried not to, but the spirit she had was so fuckin’ hot that the smile I was desperately trying to contain broke free, causing her to huff expressively.

“Well, not me!” She went on. “You can Knight Raid around in any girl’s panties you want, dammit, but not in mine. You got that? I’m not that kinda girl. So sorry.” It was stated with attitude.

I was revved up and wanting nothing more than to shut that smart ass mouth of hers with my own, but I opted to continue to irritate her instead. “Okay, that’s cool, but what about a fifteen minute frolic? That should hold me over.” It sounded like a joke, though I was actually as serious as a crackheads prized bag of collected cans.

She didn’t find it as funny as I did as she made the cutest damn annoyed face, huffed in frustration again and stomped away. This girl was going to kill me from the inside out, and I’d only known her for two damn days.

  ♪♫♪♫♪♫

I had met most of her family, and they were beyond kind and generous. I found myself, for a brief moment, jealous of the amazing family she had been blessed with. I always wondered what it would’ve been like to grow up with one parent, but to be here and see her parent’s happily together, holding and loving on one another, ma
de me crave the attention and love from both. I wasn’t that lucky though. Instead I got bounced from shit-hole to shit-hole until Kelly took me in. After that I had somewhat of a family life with Reed and Jace, but it had never felt real. Not like this.

“The bus needs a new water pump. I’ll order it tomorrow and should have her up and running for you boys by Sunday,” Marvin explained to me and Reed. I tried to pay attention as he continued to talk to us, but my concentration had bottomed out and kept involuntarily diverting itself into the next room, and focusing on Country where she was talking and laughing with some of her family.

The thought of leaving her had my mind doing wacked-out shit. Hearing her say ‘once their bus is fixed I’ll never see them again’ was a hard blow straight to the gut. Like a direct hit from Hulk Hogan himself.

The thing was – I hated watching her. I hated hearing her delicate laugh. And I fucking hated that adorable scrunchy face she made when she found something to be funny. But at the same damn time I loved it, all of it. I couldn’t come close to explaining why, and in the end that was why I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her. I was a moth compelled by the dancing flame with no power over my compulsion; destined and fated to the scorching inferno.

She seemed so bright and cheerful as she laughed with her family. I found myself wanting her to feel that way with me. Her smile was wide and happy, but it quickly diminished when she glanced up to see me watching her. Two of the girls she’d been talking with turned in the direction she was looking to see who caught her attention. They eyed me with wide, knowledgeable expressions, and both began to giggle when they turned back to Country.

“Thanks, man,” I heard Reed’s voice say, then the footsteps of Marvin walking away. “Why don’t you tap that already, bro?” Reed’s arm came around my shoulders, joining in my undeterred staring at Country. Her attention was now focused back on what appeared to be an intense conversation with her cousins.

“It’s not like that with her, dude. I’ve laid out my top of the line shit and she is still unfazed.”
