“No, the grouch just woke from her trashcan.”
“What show?” Addie ignored my remark as she placed her cup on the table and leaned in, giving her undivided attention to Trevelin. She looked like she was about to devour him there on the spot for breakfast. I mean lunch. My stomach growled. I am so hungry.
Trevelin went into telling her about Randy and the show tomorrow night, and how he wanted me and her to perform before their set. I believe the high pitched squeal she released from her lungs about destroyed mine and Trevelin’s eardrums, and maybe the sleeping cavemen still sleeping in their bunks as well.
“Yes, yes, yes!” she screeched, jumping up and down in her seat, and clapping her hands with pure elation on her face.
Trevelin looked like his ears might start bleeding at any second, but it didn’t stop the humored smile that displayed on his lips. “Glad you’re so excited,” he laughed. “Let me get the dunderheads up and we will go grab something to eat.”
My stomach did flips at the mention of eating, and as he said it he touched his fingers to the back of my neck, softly skimming the tips of them over my skin. The feel of it assaulted my body with shock waves and chills. I hastily cursed for being so affected by him. I was aching in places that I didn’t know could ache. I couldn’t decide if I should punch him for being so darn sexy or myself for liking him for being so darn sexy.
He graced me with an over the top sexy smile, then stood to go wake the guys. I unknowingly watched his retreat until I could no longer see him.
“What the hell was that?” Addie quickly asked in a deep whisper with a frown that was soon followed by a mischievous grin.
“What was what?”
“He was totally feeling you up, Isabel Morgan. And you just stared at his ass until it was completely out of sight.”
“I was not. You’re seeing things.” I frowned at her like she’d lost her mind.
“Whatever. Keep telling yourself that, but when you finally experience that magic wand in his pants, you better tell me all about it. In grave detail.” The look she gave told me she wasn’t joking. She was serious, as in not kidding. The only thing I could offer her was an eye roll. “Like the other night at Bucks,” she went on. “Oh-my-greatness, Izzy, I was fucked into heaven. I swear his dick—”
“I do not want to hear about your one night hook up with some random guy.”
“Random?” She giggled. “Girl, where have you been? It wasn’t some random cock that almost split me in half—Jace Cox knows how to work his stuff,” she said in awe. “I’ll just say, not only can he sing and play stimulating music, but he also has the power of making my body do the same. His huge fuck-stick made me come in record time.”
I choked on my own saliva. Did I hear her right?
There was no way I could begin to hide the astonishment that registered on my face. But then again, who was I kidding? This was Addie. The girl loved to get down and dirty with hot men, and Jace highly classified as a hot man. I was just relieved it was Jace and not Trevelin. I couldn’t bring myself to understand why, but I think I would have been mortified if it were him.
“I thought you were leaving with that one guy you were molesting on the dance floor?”
“I was, but shortly after you left Jace came and found me. He told me I wasn’t leaving with some dick I just met and then threatened the poor guy.” Her smile said that this more than likely tickled her fancy. “It pissed me off at first that he was trying to tell me what to do. In return it caused us to argue the whole ride back to the ranch. On the way, Trevelin told me to sleep on the couch because he needed to talk to you.” She said the last part in a singsong voice with a wink. “Once we got home I stormed inside the house and Jace came chasing after me. Needless to say, we ended up in my room—the man has a massive dick,” she held up her hands indicating the size, “and one hell of a kinky side.” Her grin grew.
“Don’t want to know that.” I waved my hand in the air and looked away as the burn in my cheeks grew so hot I thought the flesh might actually disintegrate into ashes.
I would never be able to look at Jace the same way again. There was no need to say I wasn’t accustomed to her sexual talk about one of her one night accomplishments, but not about someone I was going to be seeing on a regular basis.
We talked a little longer about tomorrow night, and she insisted on telling me in detail about her and Jace’s night together as she put her makeup on. I could have done without the information and repeatedly told her that, but I guess in that particular moment she didn’t understand English. I might as well had been speaking in another language.
Trevelin and the rest of the Knight Raiders finally emerged from the back of the bus, saving me from Addie.
“Who’s hungry for some tube steak?” Reed buzzed, throwing his large arm around my shoulders. Trevelin daggered him with a look, but Reed seemed to pay no mind. I didn’t care, because he mentioned steak and I was starving.
“What’s tube steak?” I questioned, wanting to know what kind of eating establishment they were taking us to. It sounded like something foreign.
Reed almost fell down the steps with laughter from my question, and if not for Trevelin catching me by the arm, I would have tumbled down with him without a hitch. “Sorry, Kitten. Didn’t mean to almost kill ya, but you’re fuckin’ hilarious. Don’t ask shit like that when I’m walking you down steps.”
“I wasn’t trying to be funny, Reed,” I said seriously.
He coughed, grabbed his chest, and sounded as if he was choking on his tongue. He clasped me around the waist and pulled me closer to him, still laughing. My breathing hitched and my skin started to crawl as I tried to squirm my way out of his grasp. The smell of his manly body wash or cologne filled my nose which was practically pressed against his shirt as he held onto me so tight.
“You just keep gettin’ hotter and hotter every time you purr that sweet mouth.” He grinned at me devilishly. I had the strong urge to punch him in the throat, but lost my chance when he damn near pressed his lips to my ear. “It’s a polite way of asking if you’d like to suck my dick,” he whispered suavely.
Without any further hesitation, I put his crude dreaming to an end. My knee instantly connected with his groin.
With a loud groan he slumped over while cupping his testicles.
“I’m not some cheap, skanky tramp you can contaminate with your STD’s, you disgusting dirt-bag.”
Trevelin and Bryson roared with laughter behind me. Jace had to hold onto the bus for support he was laughing so hard, and Addie was practically doing the same.
“Fuck!” Reed groaned in pain. “Shit, you little hellcat. You didn’t have to dismember my junk. I was just giving you an open invite. I’m clean. I swear.”
I was about to say something, but Trevelin stepped in front of me. With a cigarette in his mouth, he leaned down and patted Reed on his back. “This should teach you to keep your hands and foul mouth to yourself, huh?” he chuckled, a grin on his face that didn’t scream amused. He actually looked a little mad.
Reed didn’t protest, he simply coughed and grunted a few more times before he finally found his composure. When he was capable of walking again, we made our way toward a large, blacked out Navigator. Reed walked as far from me as possible, keeping his distance well away from my personal space, making me wish I would’ve practiced that trick days ago.
On the way to the parked SUV, I took in our surroundings. There were people milling about everywhere in the freezing cold. Every time I exhaled, it looked like I was smoking one of Trevelin’s cigarettes.
There were four semi-trucks with ‘Knight Raiders’ in large medieval font and their logo of a shield and dragon plastered on the sides. Things were being hauled off and carried inside the large arena. I felt as if we were walking our way through a busy ant hill. All the roadies hustled about, working just as hard as the little insects did.
As we approached the black vehicle, the front doors opened, and two very large
, burly black men stepped out. And when I say large I mean Clifford the Big Red Dog could be their puppy. The closer I got to them the more I shrank in size. Even Trevelin – guessing here – is around six-foot-two in height and one hundred and seventy pounds of lean muscle and he too grew smaller in comparison to these guys. Both their faces were bleak, and to say they weren’t intimidating looking would be an utter lie.
Trevelin took the last pull from his cigarette and tossed the butt to the ground, flashing me a big smile as the smoke exited around his lips. My lips automatically reacted, giving him a smile back that felt all kinds of wrong, but also felt all kinds of right.
Reed was able to make it to the Navigator, grumbling under his breath the entire short distance. The two large men stared at him, faces blank and unchanging. Within an instant the intimidating look that was on their faces disappeared and both commenced laughing. Heavy and hard.
“Shut up, you two,” Reed barked.
“Someone got dropped like they’re hot...dropped like they’re hot...What!” both men sang together, doing a funny twerking dance around Reed like they were spanking him.
“You’re supposed to protect me from shit like that and hot little hellcats like her.” Reed glared at me, chagrin openly tensing his handsome face as he sucked his lip ring between his teeth. I could tell poor Reed could dish the annoying antics but couldn’t receive them. What a baby.
“Looked like the girl wuz protectin’ herself...from you,” the bigger of the two men said with a very, and I mean very, deep tone. Even his voice was huge. It reverberated through my chest as he spoke.
“She wants this,” Reed snipped, bringing his gaze back to me. “She just can’t bring herself to act on it yet. Can ya, Kitten?”
I bit down so hard on my lip I almost tasted blood. I wanted to taste the blood, because I was one point five seconds away from strangling him. I was going to kill him before three months were up. If his security wasn’t there, I might have done it then.
“Look out, Reed. If looks could kill,” the other guy snorted.
“Leave her the fuck alone, dumbass.” Trevelin stepped in front of me, glaring hard at Reed.
“Hey, I was just fuckin’ kiddin’ around. That’s all,” he stressed. “Try to be nice and you get kneed in the fucking nuts for it. Women – to them you’re always a dick, no matter how politely you ask for a blowjob.”
“Can we just please go get something to eat?” I sighed, putting every bit of my frustration into it.
“Sure, but first let me introduce you and Addie to our head of security-slash-drivers.” Trevelin clasped my hand, pulling me closer to the two gigantic men as he waved for Addie, who was currently working her hands all over Jace. They seemed to be in their own little world and oblivious to everyone around them. “Keep snarling your nose like that and it’ll get stuck that way,” Trevelin whispered in my ear, as he tapped the end of my cold nose when he noticed my reaction toward the nasty make-out session going on in the parking lot behind the arena.
I rolled my eyes at him on the outside, but on the inside my body was begging for him to touch me again. Between all the conflicting emotions that were rioting inside me, threatening my pride, I profusely beat them back into their rightful place and steadily listened to Trevelin talk with that holy voice of his.
He introduced us to the two big men that had looked out for the Knight Raiders safety ever since they became famous. The larger one he said was Mac, head of security, but Trevelin insisted on us calling him Big Mac. Not because of his massive size, but because he loved McDonalds. I thought that was funny.
The other one was Doug Daniels, but the guys called him Double-D, for reasons in which I thought was because of his initials, but discovered it was because that was his favorite bra size. Typical man.
After the introductions were complete and the men knew Addie and I were the new tagalongs, we all piled our freezing butts into the SUV and went in search of something to eat. Thank heavens. I could seriously eat an entire cow about now.
I was surprised and somewhat envious at all the fans that were waiting out in the freezing cold, holding up signs as we passed through the gates of the closed off area where only personnel were allowed to be. All hoping they could catch a small glimpse of the guys.
Dozens of screaming fans, who mostly consisted of women, ran up to the windows, pressing their faces to the glass, trying desperately to sneak a peek of their favorite rock stars before Mac pulled out into traffic. The Knight Raiders never paid the frenzy any attention. To them, having people scream their names at the top of their lungs was normal. If Addie and I were going to launch our career and build a fan base, this frenzy, this craziness, was going to take some getting used to.
The restaurant we arrived at was supposed to be a low key diner; something subtle and quiet in hopes that the guys wouldn’t have to worry about being mauled while trying to eat a meal. At least that was what Double-D had thought anyways.
When we entered the diner it took all but five seconds for Trevelin and the boys to be recognized and were immediately swarmed by all the female employees. Big Mac warned them back, but the guys didn’t want to disappoint any of their loyal fans, so they signed a few autographs.
Addie and I were ignored as every worker gaped, gawked and flirted with the Raiders. I heard Jace call it Raid Mania.
Finally, after what felt like light-years, we were seated toward the back where it was a little more private. They were done scribbling their names on napkins or anything else mentionable to write on. One waitress even had Trevelin sign her over-sized chest. I thought it was extremely tactless, but didn’t give it too much thought considering at that point my sugar level had completely flat lined. If a gust of wind were to catch me there was no doubt I would take flight and sail away.
I was also still highly mad at Reed, but when he removed his leather jacket to take his seat I couldn’t stifle my laugh. He was wearing a black shirt with a white box on the front that said in bold red letters: WARNING: EXTREMELY HORNY AND EASILY EXCITED PROCEED WITH CAUTION. The shirt was very well-spoken. It said it all, and I believed that warning was something that needed to be tattooed to his forehead.
“You two excited about tomorrow?” Bryson asked, looking over the menu.
I didn’t know what I wanted. Everything on the menu sounded appetizing. Heck, at this point I was ready to eat off my own darn arm.
“Freakin’ thrilled,” Addie answered him excitedly.
Trevelin told the boys on the way here about his idea of us performing, and all of them agreed that they thought it was a great idea – all but Reed, who sat grumbling about his aching balls.
“You just need to remember this shit is no walk in the park. You have to give up your whole personal life. No more walking into a restaurant to eat in peace, as you just saw.” Jace looked up from his phone and motioned toward the gathering of waitresses who couldn’t seem to peel their lust filled eyes away from the Knight Raiders. “So it’s either the security of your own privacy or follow your dreams and have all your shit blasted all over the media.” He finished, glancing back down at his phone with a scowl on his face.
That was something that I had thought long and hard about, but music was my life. It always had been. It was bred and nurtured into me. Addie and I had always been put in all the talent shows, sung in the choir at church, and as we got older it was any bar or party that would let us sing. It was a risk I think we were willing to take.
The waitress came and took our orders. I was too hungry to think about the way she hung over each of the guys or the way she kept flipping her hair while sticking out her lips in what I assumed was a look she thought might attract one. Like some kind of secret mating call...for a duck perhaps. I didn’t care. All I wanted was food, and my stomach rumbled loudly in anticipation when she finally walked away to turn in our order.
Trevelin, who was seated beside me, looked down where the noise came from with an upturned grin. “Someone hungry?”
/> “Yes,” I huffed, a bit too desperately. Not to be overdramatic, but I was so famished I could feel myself wasting away.
Trevelin abruptly scooted his chair back from the table and got up. I watched as he went to the counter and leaned over it to tell the blonde on the other side something. She lightly swayed back and forth, smiling so hard at him that her face looked as if it was about to break. He said something to her and she covered her mouth suppressing a fit of giggles.
I lost my appetite.
We were here to eat and he was flirting with the staff behind the counter. Probably trying to score an easy lay for tonight, no doubt.
Reaching out she touched his arm and my skin began to burn while nausea rocked my stomach like a boat caught in a storm. I seriously hoped he wouldn’t bring her back to the bus. With that thought I quickly turned back around, crossing my arms, and focused in on the others conversation before I threw up what little stomach content I had left and desperately needed. Bryson was discussing the upcoming filming for the Love Potion video. He mentioned how Randy said it was going to be hot and steamy. I made note that it was one video I would be sure never to watch. I hated that song anyways.
Ever since Addie scrapped them off the side of the road I had Googled them restlessly. I thought since I knew nothing about them, and the fact that they were going to be staying in our house, that I should know a little something. Due to my internet stalking tendencies, I now knew that Trevelin’s favorite color was red, he hated smoking yet he did it anyways, he’s twenty-three and will turn twenty-four on February 14th.
I still laugh when I think about that. This hardcore rock god, that probably didn’t have a romantic bone in his body, was born on Valentine’s Day out of all the three-hundred and sixty-five days of the year.
I couldn’t find anything about where he’d grown up, other than him being from Chicago, but remembered how hard his upbringing was, so I really didn’t expect to either. I found out the basics on the other guys as well, and also found a few pictures I could have done without seeing. Women were like a change of socks to them. A new pair for each day of the week. Expect for Bryson, who appeared to be sweetly faithful to his fiancée.
