After our encounter in the airport in front of hundreds, it became pretty hectic. People started moving in closer, screaming Trevelin’s name, asking for autographs and pictures. That was when I found out that Big Mac and Double-D weren’t left behind, they simply were too out of shape to keep pace with Trevelin while he was running at the speed of a cheetah through the airport. They huddled us between them and hustled through the growing mass of people and out of the airport to the safety of an awaiting vehicle.
Trevelin hadn’t taken his hands off me once since we left, and his eyes hadn’t strayed for long periods of time either. Kinda like this was all unreal to him, as if he were to release me or look away for too long it would turn out to be his imagination playing tricks on him
“So, Addie ratted me out.” It wasn’t a question, I knew she did. I tilted my head from where it rested on his chest to look up at him.
“No,” he said softly, brushing my hair back from my face. “You had someone else besides me that didn’t want you to leave.”
I frowned, a little stunned that my Addie guessing skills were off kilter. “Who?”
Trevelin pointed to the big guy in the driver seat whose attention was focused hypnotically on the road. “He never left the airport,” Trevelin offered, skimming his hand up and down my arm in a soothing motion.
“Why?” I was just full of one syllable questions.
“Because he knows me, Country. The second you walked out of my room, you took half of me with you. I was so shocked by what you said, especially after seeing you with Ryker—”
“Trevelin, I never—”
“Let me get this out. I want you to know everything.”
“Sorry.”
“I was paralyzed, I couldn’t move, and I couldn’t believe that you had just poured your heart out to me, expressing those three words I have wanted to say to you for a long ass time. There has never been anyone to make me feel the way you do, Isabel.” The way he said my name gave me the chills. I loved hearing him call me Country, but when my actual name was crooned off his tongue, he made it sound hot and sexy, like he was speaking with a foreign accent.
“And for the life of me I couldn’t get my damn brain and mouth to work in unison. It didn’t take long after you left for my motor skills to start functioning again and I went looking for you. I called Addie, but she left her phone on the kitchen counter in the condo, so I went down to the front desk and Luke told me you left with Big Mac and that you seemed extremely upset. I never meant to make you cry, babe,” he whispered while brushing his fingers down my cheeks where my tears had once fallen, a sad smile trapped on his lips.
I placed my hand over his as he continued. “I called to see where he was and he told me he had just dropped you off at LAX and that he was waiting for me. He knew I would come after you. I couldn’t get to you fast enough and traffic was so bad that I thought I wasn’t going to make it. I couldn’t let you leave, Country. I know what I said to you at the bar and it was all a fucking lie. I was just hurt and was hoping that by hurting you in the process it would bring me some sort of comfort. But it didn’t, it only tore me apart further and made me feel even more like a worthless bastard. I want you to know that I am so sorry for everything I said...and didn’t say. You’re the rock to my star, babe, and I can’t continue to shine without you.”
He rested his forehead against mine, and I knew without a shadow of a doubt that I couldn’t possibly fall any more in love with him, not even if someone had a gun held to my head and told me to do so. “I love you, Trevelin Knight,” I whispered.
“Not as much as I love you, Isabel Morgan.”
Chapter Twenty
Trevelin
“I can walk, Hollywood. My legs are perfectly capable.” Country giggled when I scooped her into my arms. It felt like the ride back from the airport took a goddamn eternity. I was content with it though. I had my dream girl in my arms and she now knew how much she meant to me. The best damn part...she was now mine. Isabel Morgan agreed to be my girl. I was the luckiest fucker to grace the planet.
“Maybe, but I’m not giving you an opportunity to reconsider and put those sexy legs to work and run from me. We both know how capable they are.”
“Not a chance.” She placed her hand on the side of my unshaven face, rubbing it softly as I walked us toward the entrance.
“Maybe.” I smiled at her.
“You and that word maybe,” she laughed.
Greg, the doorman, opened the door for me. I quickly thanked him, moving toward the elevators. It was like I couldn’t get her to the twenty-third floor fast enough.
“It’s an awesome fuckin’ word,” I told her while I stepped inside and pressed the button to take us to my floor.
“I didn’t kiss him, Trevelin,” she said softly and out of the blue. The doors closed and I looked down at her, still cradled perfectly in my arms, right where she belonged. “He took me to this beautiful setup on the beach and told me he wanted to be with me and lay the rumors to rest. I freaked out because...well, because, it wasn’t you,” she confessed with a sad shrug. “So I ran. When I reached the building I stopped to catch my breath and he was right behind me. I started to tell him that I didn’t feel the same way, that I was in love with you, but he stopped me by kissing me.” She sounded apologetic, and her brief rundown of what happened caused me to feel even more relieved.
She didn’t kiss him.
He kissed her.
Then I remember seeing him look over at me when I came around the van that was blocking them from my view right before he kissed her. That fuck face did it because he saw me coming. I should’ve caved the slime ball’s head in.
Anger ticked across every nerve in my body. She was mine then and I didn’t even know it. I was also pissed at myself for all the wasted time that we could have had together if I would’ve just manned up, untucked my balls and told her how I felt.
“It doesn’t matter, babe. All that matters to me is that you’re with me. You are mine now. But I swear if he ever touches you again, I’ll kill him.” My voice started out soft, but as the thought of his hands and mouth on her cluttered my now sober brain, my tone became harsh. I felt her draw back in my arms.
It was unknown if the harshness in my voice caused her to recoil or if she wondered if I would actually do such a thing. And the truth was...I would. I wouldn’t stand to see another man touch what was mine. This was a new possessive feeling I’d never dealt with before, and when it came to Country there was a bucket load of new shit that pumped throughout my body.
“Only you, Hollywood,” she whispered, smoothing her soft fingertip over my brow, relaxing the frown I didn’t realize was there. The elevator pinged and she gently pulled out of my arms.
“Only me,” I repeated before kissing those beautiful full lips.
Taking her hand, I led her to the condo. I couldn’t wait any longer to get her in my room and show her just how fucking much I actually loved her. Hell, I couldn’t wait to announce to the whole world that she was finally mine. Letting everyone know that Isabel Morgan, the sweet Country Bliss, was officially taken...by me! “You do know that everything that happened tonight will be big news tomorrow, right? If not already.” I let her hand go as we reached the door and turned her to face me.
She nodded.
“I’m going to call Tucker first thing in the morning and have him do a press release saying you and I are together and tonight’s ordeal was because I didn’t want you going home.” I searched her face, looking for a sign that this was okay with her. “And that you and Ryker were only ever friends. I can’t have people still thinking you’re bopping back and forth between us. I want everyone to know that it’s just me and you, babe – just me and you.” I ran my fingers through her wavy hair, tilting her head back slightly so she was looking up at me.
Her eyes glowed the brightest shade of blue and her pink lips curved into the sweetest smile. “Just you and me, Trevelin,” she mirrored back. I breathed a relaxin
g breath and turned the handle to the condo, not able to withhold from getting my girl to my room any longer.
As the door parted, loud music blasted through the opening. I became apprehensive and a little reluctant to enter, knowing what I’d find. Country glanced at me before I walked through first to shelter her eyes from whatever disaster was waiting beyond the entrance.
Just as I thought, Reed was in the living room half dressed with all the furniture moved to the side, giving space for a makeshift dance floor. There were half naked chicks loitering everywhere, and one was even shirtless as she grinded her barely covered pussy against Reed’s leg.
Country tensed beside me as she appraised the scene of what you would find in some sex club. Girls piled on the couch in the corner making out, chicks practically fucking each other while dancing, and Reed close to finger banging the one humping his leg. It was a normal scene for us, and usually I’d be right there beside him with one around my waist or on the couch getting down and dirty.
I am one sick ass motherfucker. I’m ashamed that Country is beside me seeing what used to be me. The person I was before she walked into my life. This is the life she saved me from.
Reed caught sight of me and pulled out the remote to the sound system from the back pocket of his jeans, turning the volume down to a more suitable level. This attracted the attention of the girls in the room, and in a matter of seconds all eyes were drawn to me. I could feel the sex-stabbing stares, and it made me extremely uncomfortable.
“There ya are, buddy,” Reed sighed. With those four words I could tell his ass was already drunk. The beer bottles and shot glasses littered everywhere also helped to tip off the suspicion. “Brought back a little entertainment to get your mind off Kitten,” he said. “An endless buffet. Hell, I got ya a new meal for each day of the week. Take your pick, the room’s full of willing pussy.” He waved his arm around the room to all the seductively smiling women. “This one here has the best fucking tits,” he growled, groping one of her boobs, making her giggle as she threw her head back. “You’re more of an ass man though, so...maybe that one fits your standards better.” He pointed to some dark haired girl in nothing but her bra and g-string with an ass that would put J. LO to shame.
It was one hell of an ass, and I hated that I even looked. Country was probably mortified by the sight of this and I wanted it all out. “Who’s your man?” he demanded proudly.
I ignored him. “Get them the fuck out, Reed,” I commanded sternly.
“What?” He recoiled slightly before he started walking toward me. It was then he saw Country standing behind me, sheltered from a vision that was too gruesome for such innocent eyes. I glanced at her, and the expression on her face entailed intense anxiety and solicitude. “Oh, hey, Kitten. Didn’t see ya there.” He smiled at her in a way that made me want to knock his eyeballs out the back of his head. “You’re more than welcome to join the fun. There’s always room for three...or four in my bed.”
He’s drunk, Trevelin, and he’s your best friend. He doesn’t mean it.
“I would have to be dead, you sick ass. And even then I would make sure I haunted and tormented you to the point you chopped off your own dick!” Country snapped at him before I had a chance to say anything. Her snappy attitude always created a smile on my face—apparently even in situations like these.
“Ooh, I love it when you talk dirty to me. Say dick again.”
“REED!” I warned with anger, right when I see a flash of white bouncing across the top landing. It caught our attention, and we all three looked to see Addie practically floating down the stairs in a white, tiny nurse outfit.
“Fuck me stupid,” Reed bantered as Addie hit the bottom step.
She caught us staring and lifted her brow along with a smile in a teasing fashion. “What? Jace needs some ice. You know, for the swelling. Don’t let me interrupt your freaky party.” She fiddled her fingers toward all the sexually amped females.
“Oh, you’re not,” Reed chuckled, scanning her body. “And I know what he wants that ice for. It’s definitely not for his broke ass foot. He wants it so he can shove it—”
“Shut the hell up, Reed!” Country yelled.
Her reaction enticed him to laugh. “Wanna make me, Kitten? Give me a little tongue action like you gave Ryker.”
That was all it took. I grabbed him and shoved him back against the door.
“What’s up, buddy?” He chuckled, finding me funny. “Ready to go play?”
“Go upstairs, babe,” I told Country, not taking my gaze from Reed. I felt her eye me skeptically, but finally she turned and headed for the stairs. Addie followed behind her with a glass full of ice. I wanted to laugh at the thought of her dressed in a slutty nurse costume as well as the intentional purpose for the ice, but Reed had me so pissed all I could manage was to grit my teeth.
“Bro, I got us some killer ass weed that will get you high as fuck, and more than a few bitches to cure your problem.” He smiled, giving me a gentle slap on my cheek.
“My problem right now is you. What the fuck, Reed? You are lucky I don’t make it where you have severe dental problems and need to visit a fucking dentist tomorrow.”
He frowned, pushing me back from him. “Just trying to help a brother out,” he lashed. “I saw your face when you saw Kitten swapping spit with douche-for-brains. Girl’s an inner slut, Trev, fucking you one minute then mouth banging him the next.”
Holding my breath along with every ounce of willpower I had, I walked around in a circle, rubbing the burning anger out of my face. I had to bite down hard on my bottom lip to prevent me from beating the hell out of my best friend who had never pissed me off like this before.
“Reed, man, you need to shut the fuck up before I do something I’ll regret tomorrow when your stupid ass wakes up.” I looked back at him. “We’re together now. She didn’t mouth bang Ryker. He took advantage and forced the kiss on her when he saw me approaching. Hell, I don’t even know why I’m telling you this. You’re too stoned and plastered to even comprehend.”
“No, I understand fuckin’ fine,” he laughed, stumbling a little when he backed away from the door I’d shoved him against. “My partner in crime has turned into a heartfelt bastard like the rest of these fucking pussies around here. Jace and Addie have been playing doctor all goddamn night; Bryson has been with Jade, no shocker there. And now your dick is tucked away into your asshole, causing you a major case of pussyitous. Symptoms; to chase some chick that is way out of our league,” he barked, pointing in the direction of Izzy. “The Trevelin Knight that started this fucking band, my best friend, would be over there banging the bottom out of one of those hot girl’s asses right about now. Not settling for some little finicky babe that’s been playing him like a damn yoyo. That’s not you and you know it. You’ve changed, Trev.” He eyed me like he didn’t know the person standing before him.
His rant told me everything. He was afraid. Afraid that I wasn’t going to be the same guy that I’d always been. And he was right, I wasn’t. Country had changed me, making me a better man. I wanted to be a better man for her. At the same time it hurt that Reed thought I’d changed so much that he didn’t know who I was. I’d always be his best friend. Nothing could ever change that.
“Reed, I’m the same guy I’ve always been, I just...I fell in love. I can’t help it.” I shrugged, raking a hand through my hair. “I’m still your bro, your Trev-dog, your Schnookums,” I laughed at the stupid name he’d taunted me with since we were kids. “Just now, I have a girl that makes me happy, who I want to spend forever with. Look at it this way – you’ll have more girls that will be chasing after your dick now because mine’s taken.”
His deadpan look turned into a pleased one as a hint of a smile slowly started working across his face. “That’s true,” he agreed. “I can’t believe Trevelin Knight is in fucking love. Who would’ve thought?”
“Yeah.” I shrugged again. “Dreams change, dude. You’ll see one day.”
&n
bsp; “What the fuck ever! The women love Reed Cox, not the other way around. And I have plenty of cock to supply their needs. I’ll see one day...?” he repeated distastefully.
“I thought the same thing,” I tested him, voice serious. “I wanna get to my girl. Please chose one chick and make the other hookers get the fuck out. I don’t want Country feeling uncomfortable.” I looked around the room at the mingling female orgy. Some girls were watching me and Reed, waiting for us to come join them while others were too busy doing other things that I normally would be enjoying at this very second.
“Yeah.” He nodded. I turned to head for my waiting beauty upstairs when Reed said, “No hard feelings...for what I said to Kitten?”
“We’re cool, man.” He was my best friend, my brother, the only family I’d ever had. I couldn’t be mad at him and couldn’t allow tension to come between us. He smiled and then headed for his awaiting party. I scoured the stairs two at a time, hoping he listened and sent all of them back to wherever he found them.
Nearing my door, my heart strummed wildly in my chest. I was fixing to get to officially make love to Country, and Mr. Happy was already happy at the idea. When I opened the door, I was confronted with her sitting on the edge of the bed with worry stifling the room. The all out sex chronicles happening below us was not something I wanted her to ever witness. I didn’t want her to see how I used to be, what I would stoop to just to feel wanted. I still couldn’t wrap my mind around the fact that I was wanted, and wanted by the most beautiful thing I’d ever laid my eyes on. I finally must have done something right in my life to be rewarded with an angel like her.
Thank you, Jesus!
“Hey, beautiful,” I serenaded happily, shutting and locking the door behind me. Her head lifted and I watched her scan my face, searching for any evidence of what she called a slut stain, I assume. “Only you,” I repeated her words from the elevator, setting her wary mind at ease.
