“Mmm, mmm, mmm, look at you. If I were into chicks, doll, you’d totally be my fluffy little peep.”
I glowered at him through the large mirror in front of me as Heather pulled a huge ass, round brush looking thing through my hair while holding a blow dryer to it, making the front take on a swooped back effect. This was my least favorite part before a show. I knew how to fix my own damn hair for fucks sake.
“Let’s not get carried away, Ross. You’re gay as fuck, so stop badgering my girl.”
Ross laughed, and I saw Country holding one in. “Listen to you,” he chirped, waving a finger at me. “Being all jealous of the gay guy and such. Very territorial I see.”
“Maybe,” I mused. That one little word broke Country’s barrier and she laughed, hard. I grinned like a fool, because I loved hearing that sound more than anything. It was a melody all on its own.
“It’s nice seeing you again too, Ross. You’re not going to dress him in a skimpy outfit like you did me, are you?” She looked at me teasingly. I remembered the little red set he’d put her in for the video and the world to see. I loved and hated it.
“Nope, but I’m sure you and I, along with the rest of the female population, will love it,” Ross told her as he unzipped the cover the clothes were hiding in.
“I hate it already.”
“Ah...come on,” I geared playfully. “You can’t hate anything I wear. I make it look too damn good. Oh wait, would you rather I perform in my birthday suit?”
She scowled. “Would you prefer I perform in my naked attire?”
“Only for me, baby.”
A short time later, I managed to stuff all my manly parts in the tight as hell leather pants Ross had handed me. My balls were screaming to kick his ass. “My nuts so hate you right now,” I complained, coming out of the small alcove I’d changed in. “There is no damn room left in these fucking pants.” Country burst into laughter, and I looked over at her while trying to squat, hoping to stretch some room into the tightly fitted fuckers. “What? Don’t believe me? Try to stick your pinky in here,” I grumbled, poking my pelvis out to her.
“Stop being a wuss. You sound like she did when she put on the lingerie for the video,” Ross bantered, handing me a white sleeveless shirt. I pulled it on, then the black leather jacket that was shoved in my face.
“A wuss? I’m being reasonable. My shit can’t breathe.” He only frowned as he laced numerous necklaces around my neck, then placed a few rings on my fingers and an array of bracelets onto my wrists.
“Look at you, Schnookums,” Reed whistled as he entered my dressing room. “That’s what sexy as fuck looks like.”
He looked a million times better than he did yesterday. He had holed up in his room, nursing one of the worst hangovers of his life. I felt he deserved it, but I also hated seeing my best friend miserable. He was definitely back to his norm today though.
“I’m going to go find Addie before the show starts,” Country spoke while she got off the couch and came to me, giving me a sweet kiss on the lips. Since the other night she had avoided Reed at all costs. I couldn’t say I blamed her.
“Okay, babe, but don’t go off too far. I want another one of those before the show starts.”
“I’ll see what I can do.” She smiled. A huge smile of my own left me cheeks aching.
“You look happy,” Reed pointed out.
“I am, unless you want to discuss these fucking pants. Then I’m not and neither are my balls.”
“Are you still complaining?” Ross asked rummaging through a rack of clothes then tossed Reed his wardrobe.
“That’s not complaining, Ross. That’s called bitchin’.” Reed chuckled, taking the clothes and strolling into the same alcove I’d changed in.
“Yeah, and you two are the only ones who do it. Bryson and Jace never say a word.”
“And you never dress them in circulation restricting pants either.”
“Schnookums, come rub my pussy, it hurts,” Reed whined in a hideous girly voice, yanking back the curtain where he rubbed his crotch openly. He was making fun of me for complaining about my pants, but he knew if it were him he’d be doing the same.
“Shut the fuck up, Reed.” He laughed, then made a face like I genuinely hurt his feelings before shutting the curtain to finish getting dressed.
“Well, that’s no way to talk to someone you love. If it had been Izzy you would’ve come a runnin’, no problem,” he told me as Jace and Bryson walked into the room—without tight ass leather pants, might I inform.
“And if the shoe were on the other foot?” I asked pointedly as he came out fully dressed in ripped jeans and a black sleeveless shirt that said This is what a Rock Star looks like.
“Ha...I’d be the reason her pussy was hurtin’.” Everyone in the room burst into laughter, even though two of them had just walked in on the conversation.
The door opened again and Kevin, our stage manager, poked his head in. “You’re up in five guys.”
A few second later we were walking to the stage. Ryker fucking Steele passed by us, and the urge to rip him in half was almost unbearable. The only thing that stopped me was the appeasing feeling I got from the purple bruise shadowing his eye and the focus I had on the beauty waiting just a few feet from the stage like I’d asked her to.
Her lips turned up at the ends. “You may not like the pants, Hollywood, but I kinda do.”
“Nice to know.” I winked, wrapping my arms around her tiny waist and pulled her flush against my body. The aroma of her flowery perfume invaded my nose as I sealed my lips to hers. She tasted as good as she smelled. My tongue slid against her soft lips and she opened up, giving me access to the rest of her tasty mouth. She kissed back with her own amount of force like she was starving for the kiss as much as I was.
“Kick some fanny,” she murmured against my lips, smacking my leather covered ass.
Her playfulness made me smile, but I spoke to her in a rigorous tone. “Don’t go anywhere. I want you to hear the last song.” It was a surprise I’d been working on for her and I was nervous as shit for her to hear it.
“Wouldn’t miss it.”
“Trev, come on, dude. You can fuck later,” Jace shouted.
Reluctantly, I placed a soft kiss to her forehead and swiveled on my heels to go entertain the thousands of fans that had come to the Staples Center to watch the last show.
The music began to beat through the darkness of the black stage. Lights flashed in the distance of the arena, giving us time to find our places. The lights danced around in a strobe light display until they finally landed on us, causing the audience to go ballistic, screaming and chanting our names. Their enthusiasm created an enormous grin on my face, as did all the signs wishing me a Happy Birthday. Loved my fans.
“WHAT THE FUCK IS UP, LOS ANGLES?” I screamed charging across the stage to rile them up even more. “You know what I say?” I asked and then held out the microphone for the crowd to answer.
“FUCK ‘EM ALL!” they called out in one big shout. That was my normal greeting to the fans and the guys cue to start the show.
Each song was sung, and in a few of the songs Reed, Jace and Bryson had their own solo parts with their instruments, or in Bryson or Jace’s case, parts where they sung with me.
This sold out show had a few more elaborate elements to the stage display than the rest. With more smoke, more flashing lights and more bursting fireballs at the front and back of the stage. Bill went all out on the last show, and I loved every damn part.
Near the end of the last song, the fans started chanting for an encore, not knowing we had a little trick up our sleeves. I blew them a kiss as I always did, and the set went silent with pitch blackness. Giving them a few minutes to wonder if we were going to give them what they were shouting for, I took the mic in the darkness as Jace slowly begun the riffs.
“You’re a special crowd, so I believe I will share with you a special song. It’s new. Never heard before and it’s dedicated to
my special girl. It’s called...Ode to an Angel.”
Reed drummed a soft beat while a blue light illuminated around me where I was seated on a stool center stage. I let the words seep easily through my lips like they were a part of my every breath.
You came on the scene
With an angels smile and a junkies dream
It wasn’t enough to turn this ripped page
Until you set me free from my dirty cage
These demons would sit and watch me bleed...
But you are the faith inside of me...
So close your eyes
Don’t say goodbye
As the past turns and goes
God only knows...
Oh, you’re my dream come to life
My angel...
My past was dark and scattered
Barely breathing, like a mirror I was shattered
These demons became my friends
I could feel them crawling beneath my skin
So blinded I could barely see...
Until you became the faith inside of me...
So don’t close your eyes
Don’t say goodbye
As the past turns and goes
God only knows...
You’re my dream come to life
My angel...my baby...
Oh...my angel...
You made my dreams become a reality
Without you I’d lose all sense of gravity
Those demons are in the past
Because I know with you, this love will forever last...
Occasionally I would glance over at the inspiration behind the words of the song to find her in a dead stare, watching me with glassy eyes. Lost in the lyrics, I poured my whole heart and soul into every single word. Wanting every person in this jammed arena to feel the intensity of the love I had for the beauty the song was about.
No sooner had the last word flowed from my vocals, cheers erupted, and a small body came crashing into mine. I couldn’t say how, but I caught her as she tightened her legs around my waist. It was a feeling like no other. To have her in my arms with those sweet lips pressed to mine. But to have her like this in front of thousands gave me a high and a sense of appeasement.
I had to admit, I was a jealous bastard, and I wanted every slimy fuck out there to know she was mine, yet the high I got wasn’t from wanting to possess her, it was from the love and compassion she had for me. That she loved me enough to throw herself at me in front of thousands—well, actually millions. This concert was being filmed to be aired on an HBO special. She knew this and yet still showed me her consuming love anyways.
“Trevelin...” she whispered in my ear. I pulled her back only to see sparkling tears trickle down her flawless cheeks.
I pray to fuck they’re happy tears. If not I’m screwed.
“What is it, baby?” I asked, brushing away dark strands of hair from her face.
“That was beautiful.”
“You’re beautiful.” I gave her my best smile, one that only she would ever see, for she was the only one to ever make me happy enough to smile to the point where it hurt.

I wanted to take Country straight back to the condo after the concert, but Tucker and Randy had insisted that I joined the guys at the after party that was being held at some nearby club. This was our last show of the tour and I needed to be present. Country said that I only wanted to take her home to get her naked. That was only half the truth. As much as I loved seeing her warm flesh exposed and bare for me to worship, it was my selfish, jealous propensity that wanted me to keep her to myself and away from all prying eyes.
But here we were, up in the VIP section of some high notch club while Big Mac, Double-D and a few other security guys stood guard. We were grabbed at, yanked on, and one chick even managed to throw her panties at us as we were escorted to where we were seated. These were all the things that I once admired about being a celebrity. But since I’d been with Country, her unknown guidance stirred me in a different direction. I’d honestly rather be at home snuggled on the couch, watching a movie with her, or better yet, making our own in the bedroom.
“It’s like Baskin Robins up in this motherfucker, and I want to taste all thirty-one flavors,” Reed said, scanning the club wistfully, and eyeballing every girl within his range of sight.
“What do you do, pop Viagra like its candy from a PEZ dispenser?” Country asked, frowning with distaste. Bryson almost choked on his swig of beer, causing Jade to pound him in the back. My girl was too fucking cute.
Reed’s face lit up. He and Izzy were two people you made sure not to randomly stick into a room together, and Reed was still coming to terms that she was my girl and I was no longer his partner in crime. The look on his face was one I’d seen before, and it was the look of pure joy. He loved Country’s witty remarks; however, he’d never openly admit it.
“Kitten.” He leaned closer to her. “This dick doesn’t need some magic pill to last four hours. All it takes is my pure swag.”
It was my turn to choke on my beer.
“More like pure gag,” she uttered. “You could seriously be a little classier.”
Reed scowled. “Like date? Fuck that! I don’t wine and dine...I bump and grind.”
“You are so disgusting,” she declared in the utmost sincere way.
“I’m not disgusting, more like...robusting.”
“That’s not even a word, you idiot. But I imagine your picture is used for descriptive purposes in the dictionary for the other one.” She was in a heady stare with Reed while Addie, seated on the other side of Reed, had a case of uncontrollable snickers.
“Ouch, Kitten.” He grabbed at his chest. “I think someone’s Aunt Flow has come for her monthly visit.”
“See? Disgusting! Try being more of a gentleman, why don’t ya?”
“What are you talking about? I am a fuckin’ gentleman. I always make sure the ladies come first,” Reed smirked coyly, then his eyes widened as he caught sight of something over Country’s shoulder and a mischievous grin perked on his lips. “See that girl?” he motioned with his chin.
Looking over her shoulder, Country hesitantly said, “Yes.”
“Well, tonight she’s gettin’ bowling balled.” I shook my head, placing a hand over my face. I’d heard this shit before. “Two in the pink and one in the stink, I always say. How’s that for being a disgusting gentleman?” With waggling brows and a satisfied look that he had the last word, Reed got up and chased after the girl with Tom—the other security guard—following closely behind him.
“He just made me throw up a little in my mouth.”
“That’s Reed,” Bryson chimed, holding up his beer before putting the bottle to his mouth.
“Want another drink?” I asked to distract her mind from the image Reed left behind.
She looked at her almost empty Sea Breeze. “Sure. I could use another one after that.”
I waved over the waitress and pulled Country closer to me as the barely dressed server groped me with her eyes, something I’d gotten used to but now was somewhat uncomfortable with. I’m a taken man who only wanted Country’s beaming eyes to lavish me with lust.
After taking our order with a huge flirty smile, she left to get our drinks. I didn’t miss how Country ignored her and all the other women who continuously rivaled for my attention, and I admired her strength.
I couldn’t do it.
No way in hell.
I gave her points for her poise.
“Wanna dance while we wait for our drinks?” She looked at me, blue eyes filled with enthusiasm.
No! No way.
There was no way I wanted to take her on the dance floor where every man in here could get a full on view of her in her short purple dress that showed off her perfectly lean running legs. The tight material clung to her skin, leaving every gracious curve in plain sight. But it was hard to tell that face no.
“Sure. Let’s go.” I clutched her hand within mi
ne and prayed that every dick in here kept their eyes and limbs to themselves. Big Mac shook his head knowingly, giving me a look as he fell in behind us on our way to the dance floor. Ushers song OMG was blaring through the speakers as the DJ mixed it up on his turntable.
Country started grinding her sweet little body against mine. Her ass pressed against my pelvis as she swayed her hips back and forth in the sexiest manner. I’d become very familiar with what those hips were capable of, and it was arousing and making me hard thinking about it.
Running my hands down her body, I moved my hips along with hers, noting that if we were naked, I swear to God I’d be fucking her in front of everyone. The girl knew how to move. It brought back a fleet of memories of her giving me that teasing dance that horrible night at Buck’s. One fucking night I wished I could erase. Not her sexy dance number, but the mistakes before that that caused her to sing Womanizer to me.
She had since overlooked the mess I was and opened her world and heart to me. There was no a way to describe how that made me feel, but I keenly realized with all my heart that it was a feeling I never wanted to go away. I’d never felt wanted, even though I knew I was by tons of fans. It just wasn’t the want I needed. Now I felt it and it brought light back to my soul. A home to my emotions and a security knowing I finally had someone and she loved me. Something else I’d never felt before...love.
“Do you know how fucking much I love you?” I whispered in her ear, flattening my hand across her lower stomach.
She leaned her head back, resting it against my chest as she tossed her arm back, effectively hooking it around the back of my neck. Her head was tilted and her beautiful, innocent face looked up at mine.
“Just a little,” she teased with a smile that caused her dimple to sink.
“More like a whole damn lot.”
“What’s the number count on that?” She giggled.
“There isn’t one. It’s endless.”
