It didn’t sit right in my gut.
Jordan and Marlo were a really cute couple.
I would really hate to learn Jordan was one of those athletes who slept around.
I tried to take my focus off of him, because if I let it linger there too long, I would probably start worrying about Caleb.
…and I knew without a doubt this man would never cheat on me, so the thought had no business being in this room.
“Hey, you two, I’ve gotta cut out.” I turned my head toward Jonny’s voice as he walked toward the group. Over his shoulder I could see a pissed off Jenna with her arms crossed over her pushed up chest.
I took a deep breath, not wanting her to ruin the night. Caleb’s arms tightened around me in a quick hug. Surely he was thinking the same thing.
“You sure?” Cael asked him.
Jonny nodded. “Yeah. Jen’s tired.”
She didn’t look tired to me.
“Why don’t you just bring her home and come back?” I asked, glancing over at Jenna again.
Jonny gave me that fake grin of his. “No can do, Sis.” He winked, as if that would make up for everything. “Congrats, Cael. You sure got lucky with this one.” He reached his hand out to formally shake his brother’s hand. Caleb released one arm from around me long enough to take it, shaking it with a squeeze of his hand.
“Seriously, though, you should come back after,” he said before wrapping his arm around me again.
Jonny shook his head. “Nah. It wouldn’t be good.” It was the first negative thing I ever heard from his mouth where Jenna was concerned.
“Alright, man. We’ll see you back in San Diego, then,” Caleb told him. Tonight, we were staying in a hotel and in the morning, we were driving to Door County to spend the week before flying back home to San Diego.
Jonny left and Winksi shook his head. “Wonder when he’s going to get that he screwed up with that one.”
I shook my head. “I don’t think he will,” I said sadly. In the year and some change I had known Jenna and Jonny, I knew that she brought that bright, amazing guy down. It made me incredibly sad.
Caleb bent down to press a kiss to the top of my head before shaking his head. “He’ll figure it out eventually.”
Chapter Nine
Caleb
Before Sydney and I left for the hotel, we took pictures with the Stanley Cup.
Damn straight I made sure it was my turn to carry the beast around during the wedding festivities.
Although I would say getting Sydney to marry me far outweighed lifting the Cup for the second year in a row.
Now we were at the hotel, our wedding clothes carefully draped over a chair as I started the whirlpool. Sydney yawned behind her hand and I grinned as I turned toward her.
“Tired?”
“It’s been a day,” she said, smiling sweetly up at me.
“That it has.” I reached for her hands and pulled her body flush against mine. My dick twitched at the feel of all her warm skin against mine.
“Thank you for marrying me, Sydney Marie Prescott.”
She shook her head, her smile still on her face. “There’s nothing to thank, Caleb.” She reached up and placed one of her tiny hands on my cheek. Already my scruff was growing back in. “I love you,” she whispered.
I leaned down to kiss her, walking her backward slowly toward the waiting warm, swirling water. I broke my lips from hers and with her small hand in mine, I helped her into the depth, following behind her.
There wasn’t a doubt in my mind I’d follow her anywhere.
I sat down and pulled her into my lap, brushing her hair off her shoulder so I could kiss the freckled skin there. We sat in the quiet for a long time, my lips on her skin in brief gentle kisses, her soft moans filtering through the room.
I let my hands wander up and down her sides, grinning against her shoulder whenever her stomach would clench because I hit one of her tickle spots. We’d have plenty of time to play later though, so I’d let her relax for now.
Well, play that way. I was fully intending on playing now, I thought as I brought one hand up to her chest, her pebbled nipple pushing into my palm. I slid my other hand up and down her thigh before dipping it inward, my thumb brushing over her most sensitive places.
She sighed heavily, rolling her head on my shoulder with a sleepy grin. I played with her then, my fingers tweaking her nipple while my other hand rubbed circles over her slowly. Flickering back and forth, rolling over and over.
She sighed again, shifting and spreading her legs. I dipped my fingers down to sink two fingers into her waiting heat.
“I love you, Chief,” I whispered into her ear as I started moving my fingers in and out of her slowly.
“I love you, Cael,” she whispered back. I continued to play, pulling back and letting her rest every time she got too close to the edge. I was drawing this one out.
When I finally let her go, there was no way it wasn’t the strongest orgasm she ever had.
After her body calmed, I helped her turn toward me, straddling my legs. My cock pulsed between us. I had to be in her.
“We didn’t use a condom earlier,” I told her. “But I want to start working on those red-head babies so I don’t care. Are you ok with that?” I brushed my fingers over her cheek, water lingering on the apples when my hands pulled back into her hair.
She didn’t say anything, instead lifting herself up and positioning me toward her core, sinking down before I could do anything other than put my hands on her hips.
Our sighs were in unison as she fitted our hips together, my cock completely seated inside her. She took my face in her hands in the way she’d been doing lately and smiled at me, pressing a kiss to my lips.
She pulled back but before she could start riding me, she said the words that made this day a thousand times better than it already was.
“We already did.”
